Under Her Cursed Scythe

30 5 Days Before Halloween PART G

"No, no, no, no... Don't tell me that's what you have been planning to do all along... to help him to test whether his absurd and unrealistic theories are valid or not. I have no time for his nonsense!" Victoria cut the boy off mid-sentence. "Your only mission, this time, is to restrain this Witch's powers and to trap her, and you have already done your job. I know this is not the task you've asked for and you are trying to prove yourself useful but you don't have to. You are an expert in daemons not in Witches and Warlocks... Agent 419 here is! So please find a place, out of the war zone. Sit there and wait for us to deal with this Witch, alright?"

After saying that, she took off the necklace that was hanging on her neck and stared at it for a second or two after which the tiny pendant enlarged and uncurled itself to its full length, forming what it seemed to be a silver Oneida Kestrel compound bow among her palm. She then pointed it towards Alivia and menaced, "You! Don't waste our time. We know you have the ring so give us the ring right now, else, I will have to torture it out of you, slowly and painfully."

'Torture? With just that?' Alivia figured when she noticed that there was neither an arrow on the bow rest nor a quiver behind Victoria's back. One of the corners of her mouth slightly raised and her pupils looked straight and boldly into Victoria's.

In noticing the fearless and mocking expression on Alivia's face, Victoria flicked one glance at her bow and slid her fingers across it which, simultaneously, produced sounds that sounded like she was sweeping her fingers across a piano keyboard. Once she detached her fingers, a yellow flaming arrow miraculously appeared on the arrow rest of her bow. She drew on to her bow and pointed the arrow at Alivia who was taken aback by this sudden change.

"You don't want to underestimate me, Witch!" Victoria claimed. "You are only immune to magic from the Left-hand path but not from magic of the Right. I can eliminate you as easy as letting my fingers loose so I will only say this once... Hand. Us. The. Ring, or you die slowly and painfully!"

The tip of the arrow kissed Alivia's chest and although her skin was shielded by two layers of her clothing, she could feel it getting tighter and tighter while moisture was being sucked out bit by bit by the boiling heat.

"Wait, Victoria!" the boy in the white cloak interfered again. He pushed Alivia backward a bit, placing himself in between her and Victoria's arrow.

"What now?" Victoria asked in a vexed tone as she loosened her grip on the arrow.

"The Silver didn't affect her." he stated.

"That means the daemon is not... or at least has not infested on her. You know I'm an expert in daemon-related matters, right? With just that result and based on what Agent 419 has said about those pair of yellow eyes appearing and vanishing quickly, I can tell you, even if a daemon is involved with her, it is not infested on her. Because when a daemon infests on a human, it doesn't appear occasionally or disappear. It stays in that person's body 24/7, or else their spirits will 'evaporate' under the sun, killing themselves or part of their souls."

"Infest on 'her' or not does not make 'her' less of a 'Witch' because even if you exclude Agent 419's analysis on 'her' aura, the fact that 'she' bears the Reaper's ring and has-"

"You don't get it. My point is even if she's a Witch, we can still-"

"No, this stops right here, right now!" Victoria scolded. "I have no time to waste when we are that close in retrieving the ring!" The composed and tolerant tone in her voice was lost at that instant.

"But I just-" Victoria's hand went to her forehead, losing all her patience. "Alright," she sounded after a short pause. "Since we have sooooo much time to waste...why don't we just hold a Witch trial right now?" she uttered, putting on a sarcastic tone. "Right? A Witch trial will be the best way to spend all our precious minutes!"
