The Zombie Queen's Second Chance

"It's slowly getting darker. What should we do?"

"What should we do? Of course, we're going to sleep inside the cars. What else do you expect us to do Chubby?" Ren Ming couldn't help but scold him.

After learning that they would also need to wait for 12 hours before going back inside the base, they simply found a free spot near the base and parked their cars.

"Do you guys think you could stay awake until morning?" Chu Lixue asked standing with her sleeping daughter in her hands. Her voice was a little shaky, and it was easy to tell she was tired.

Hu Wei looked around at the reactions from other people. "Probably not, right...?"

"If I forced myself, then I probably would manage, but it would be hard." Zhao Yun's face clearly told everyone that he wasn't optimistic about this idea.

"Yeah, I don't think so..."

"I'm already sleepy..."

"I'd most likely fall asleep in the middle of the night as well..."

Seeing their reactions, Chu Lixue decided to move on. Thinking a little about what to do, soon an idea came to her mind.

"Let's try to find a better place to stay during the night. We're a little too much in the open space staying here. Once we find a good spot, we can split up."

After taking a few sips of water, Chu Lixue continued, "At least 2 or 3 people, half of us would be the best, should stay awake and watch out for any dangers. The rest of us will go to sleep inside the trucks. After 4-5 hours, the groups will swap and the rest of us would stay on watch for the rest of the 12 hours period."

Mu Ruqin felt that there wasn't any better solution. "Alright, let's do it. Even through we're pretty close to the base, it's still better to be prepared in case something happens."

Hearing them, the rest of the group simply packed up and moved back into the trucks. After driving around the neighborhood for another ten minutes, they soon found a pretty good spot. The building behind them was curving itself, and its entrances seemed to be sealed off.

It wasn't a perfectly safe place, but at the very least nobody could come behind them. Also, from that place they had a pretty good view on the other groups near them, also waiting for their test period to go by.

"We will stay here for the night." Chu Lixue said.

Su Chang, whose eyes were almost closed by this time, finally remembered an important point. "So, how do we decide who's going to stay on night watch first?"

While he asked who's going to stay up, looking at him, the rest of the group could almost see him screaming 'I'm going to sleep right now!'.

Ren Ming couldn't hold herself back. A little smirk could be seen on her face, as she innocently said, "How about letting us women go to sleep first?"

"What? No, I also want to sleep!" Su Chang almost exploded in anger. However, hearing the silence around him he finally noticed that something was wrong. Soon, everyone couldn't hold it back anymore and they burst out laughing.

"Alright, let's not bully Chubby anymore."

"So, how do we choose who gets to sleep first? Anyone feels good enough to stay awake and watch out for us?", Chu Lixue asked.

"I guess I can do it." Zhao Yun said.

Hu Wei looked around, and seeing that nobody else was raising their voice, he slowly moved up his hand.

"So, Zhao Yun and Hu Wei. We need at least 1 more person."

After thinking for a little, Lin Qiao slowly stood up. "I'm going to stay with them."

Just as Zhao Yun was about to rebuke her, Lin Qiao continued her thoughts. "Because of the accident I didn't really work as hard as the rest of the group, so I'm not as tired. I should be fine staying awake for now..."

Seeing that Zhao Yun was still not convinced and had a dark face, she tiptoed next to him and whispered to his ear, "I'm going to have to be on the watch anyway, if not now then after a few hours. This way, at the very least we can stay together."

Since Zhao Yun still hadn't answered him, she thought that he was still against her idea, so she stole a quick kiss on his mouth and continued. "I'm scared of being alone, alright? I feel safer with you..."

"Alright, but only this time."

The rest of the group however, could clearly see what Lin Qiao didn't. During the whole time she couldn't see his face, a slight smile could be visible on Zhao Yun's face.

"You guys, can you stop this public display of affection for now?!"

"Exactly, let us single dogs have a life..."

Ren Ming didn't hide her smirk as she said, "If you guys want to show affection to each other, wait for your turn to sleep. We can make some place for you inside one of the trucks. Their soundproofing is pretty good...."

Lin Qiao couldn't handle them anymore and quickly hid her face in Zhao Yun's chest. After the group finished talking, they split into the previously mentioned 2 groups. Leaving Hu Wei, Zhao Yun and Lin Qiao, the rest of them made their way back to the cars and went to sleep.
