The Zombie Queen's Second Chance

An hour later, inside the student's apartment, sat down Chu Lixue together with her daughter and Mu Ruqin. Su Chang, Hu Wei and Ren Ming sat on the opposite site of the table.

Mu Ruqin could already get out of bed. While she was still injured and felt some pain while moving, it wasn't as bad as before. As long as she moved slowly and made sure to be careful she could move by herself.

"This taste, this size… It's so much better than our usual food!" Each meal had a full portion. Since the work was all physical, the students were deeply grateful.

Su Chang stared with wide eyes, stars forming inside them, at the big plate full of vegetables and some meat. "This is a really big portion size!"

"Are you sure we can have it?", asked Ren Ming, slightly ashamed. Meet after all is currently considered as luxurious product, even if it was only meet from a chicken.

Chu Lixue answered with a smile. "It's alright, treat it as a welcome gift from us."

"How did you even managed to get meat? Nobody would sell that even if you wanted to buy some..."

"Today at work because of some circumstances we had to help out the soldiers with fighting zombies. Since it's not really in our job description, and we even saved quite a few soldiers, they gave it to us as a gift in order to thank us for the help."

"They gave you so much? Truly nice, I wish my job was so good as well...", dreamed Hu Wei.

Chu Lixue smiled slightly and shook her head. It's true that they've got some meat as compensation for today, but they wouldn't get too much of it. When the soldier distributing the reward saw Chu Lili, he hesitated for a moment and somehow, we ended up with over double the amount of meet compared to the portions other people got.

Thinking about it, Chu Lixue tilted her head and looked at her little princess with a smile. Turned out the soldier distributing the food almost died today. Right before the zombies got to him, Lili saw his bad situation and used her ability to help him. Seems like he felt grateful enough to distribute a little more of the reward for them.

The meal was eaten, each person had their feal. Food was a limited supply in the Apocalypse, don't even talk about having some left-overs, Chubby could probably eat another plate of food.

"I used the bones to make some chicken soup. We can eat it later in the evening.", said Chu Lixue.

"You know how to cook?" Su Chang couldn't contain himself anymore and asked the question that bothered him for some time. Both Chu Lixue and Mu Ruqin looked like ladies from a rich household, not likely to have the ability to cook.

They already looked beautiful before the Apocalypse, and now thanks to their abilities strengthening and refining their bodies, their skin looked much smoother than before. If someone told Chubby that they were models before the Apocalypse, he would totally believe them.

"Ah, fortunately I learned some things here and there after moving here. After all, the food that you can buy from the government tastes pretty bad. I didn't really enjoy eating it, and I was afraid Lili wouldn't want to eat normal vegetables, even more these mutated ones."

Mu Ruqin finally opened her mouth for the first time this evening. "Really good, I guess we should all learn to cook from now on."

"I can boil eggs." Ren Ming looked around and asked, "Can you guys cook anything at all? We're on our own now after all..."

Su Chang quickly added, "I can eat these eggs!"

"I can probably cook some simple dishes, also instant noodles are pretty easy to cook, so yeah..." Hu Wei said, sinking into his thoughts about their future.

"I don't mind eating instant noodles!"

"I can only make scrambled eggs, I usually eat them with some bacon or tomatoes, but I guess it's not really possible to get any now..." Mu Ruqin sadly said. She truly liked her food.

"I will totally not mind eating scrambled…"

Su Chang didn't even manage to finish his sentence. Chu Lixue quickly covered Lili's eyes, and when Chu Lili could see light again Chubby was already siting in a corner, with a sully mood and a violet shade showing under his left eye.

Chu Lixue smiled, stroked Lili's head and said. "I learned some basic cooking technics. Boiling, frying or steaming dishes is pretty easy honestly."

Ren Ming couldn't help but be a little envious, but after thinking for a moment she still ended up saying, "Sister Lixue, you are really virtuous!"

She called her 'Sister Lixue' for the first time. She couldn't help but think, perhaps once she sucks up a little to her, she'll manage to convince her to teach her how to cook a little too! It's truly too shameful to only know how to boil eggs.

Chu Lixue didn't have a big reaction to that. They were all similar in age and their personalities clicked with each other pretty fast. While nobody said anything yet, it was becoming obvious that they were slowly forming a group.

Since she wanted to recruit them anyway, Chu Lixue simply decided to let nature take its course. At the very least, she wouldn't feel guilty in the future.
