Chapter 53: Tang Li, Why Don’t You Go to Hell?

Wu Xuehan was intrigued. “Is he an old man?”

Tang Li felt helpless when she remembered how Song Boyan had burst into laughter. He laughed after she retorted to him as he was holding the towel in his hand. Although it was a faint feeling, it still deeply engraved onto her mind.

It was the first time that she was not condemned because of her birth and identity.

At least he did not show it to her face.

Suddenly, Wu Xuehan said to her in a low voice, “Ah Li, actually you can go and act in that opera.”

Tang Li was speechless.

“That’s true, given how successful you were when you went for that audition. It should be no problem if you want to act in an opera.” Then, Wu Xuehan lowered her voice again. “Although I know that we shouldn’t make it worse for Yu Sui as she is still in great trouble now. But, everyone stands a fair chance, isn’t it?”

Tang Li closed her textbook. “I don’t have the right to choose her. The teachers might have chosen a candidate by now.”

The next day, what Tang Li had said came true.

The teacher who was responsible for the opera had chosen Jiang Yining to act as Hermia.

Yu Sui’s family had gotten her out of the police station the night before.

She was outraged when she returned to the college in the morning and knew that her role in the opera had been snatched away from her. She had harshly thrown the scripts onto the bed and rushed to argue with Tang Li in the hostel at Mountain Qi even though Jiang Yining had tried to stop her.

Tang Li was having breakfast with Wu Xuehan when Yu Sui had overturned Tang Li’s porridge the minute she barged into the hostel.

Wu Xuehan was so scared that she did not know what else to do.

Yu Sui was furious. She pointed at Tang Li and gritted her teeth. “Tang Li, why don’t you go to hell? How dare you slander me and say that I’m the one who has created the rumors about you on the internet! You just want to snatch my role away! Do you think that you’ll succeed? You’re just jealous of my Hermia when you couldn’t get the role of Ying Xuan’er! I’m telling you now. I don’t care what role you want! To me, you don’t even have the right to act as a beggar!”

Tang Li was not angry even though the porridge covered her body.

Tang Li nodded when Yu Sui had done scolding her. “You’re right. That’s why I didn’t get the role.”

Jiang Yining grabbed onto Yu Sui and advised her. “Suisui, let’s go back now. Don’t do anything you’ll regret here.”

Tang Li smiled slightly when she saw that Jiang Yining wanted to lead Yu Sui away. She said to Yu Sui, “You said that I have slandered you. But, I have moved out here and I didn’t get a chance to touch either your phone or laptop. How was I supposed to be able to plot against you?”

Yu Sui was stunned when she heard that.

Then, Tang Li turned to look at Jiang Yining. “Yining, you’re always by Yu Sui’s side. Sometimes, she asks you to take care of her belongings. Have you seen me touching her phone these past few days?”

Jiang Yining seemed hesitant. “This… I didn’t notice that either.”

Her ambiguous answer was filled with flaws. People might suspect her.

After that, Jiang Yining turned to hold Yu Sui’s hand. “Suisui, there might be some misunderstandings here. I believe that Tang Li would never harm her own classmates no matter how much she likes acting.”

“I believe that you won’t do such a thing. But, I don’t trust her.” Yu Sui pointed at Tang Li again. “A poor person like her who has a low status in society would surely dream of achieving higher status in life. Surely, she knows all kinds of tricks and schemes. She lives like a cockroach and acts cowardly. But, in fact, she is much more wicked than everybody!”

Wu Xuehan who was standing next to them could not help but say, “Yu Sui, Ah Li is nothing like what you say she is…”

“Get lost!” Yu Sui grabbed a textbook from the desk and threw it at Wu Xuehan. “You’re just a country girl! Don’t you dare to speak here!”

Wu Xuehan’s little arm soon became swollen after the textbook hit her.

Tang Li took hold of her hand and looked at it carefully. After making sure that Wu Xuehan was fine, she suddenly turned to smile softly at Jiang Yining. “You said that you wanted to do justice to me by taking revenge on that idiot. But, you didn’t tell me that you would bring her here and show her off after you have succeeded.”
