Chapter 52: He Interferes Too Much with Her Affairs

Back then, Yu Sui was a waiter at the hotel.

Yu Sui broke into a smile when she saw Tang Li. She addressed her as Mrs. Han respectfully. It seemed like she wanted to act in her favor for fear that Tang Li would bully her and make her lose her job.

Later, she heard some news from the other female guests who sat at the same dining table with her.

One of the news was about Yu Sui’s dad, Yu Guofeng.

Yu Guofeng held a high post in a certain company. At the beginning of the year, he was caught and found guilty of embezzling public funds for gambling. He was then imprisoned. At the same time, he was found guilty of another crime other than having a large gambling debt. He had cheated on his wife and he even had two lovers out there who were dependent on him. What was more shocking was that those two lovers were mother and daughter.

Both mother and daughter were with the same man. That kind of love affair soon became the hottest gossip in the entire nation.

Moreover, Yu Guofeng’s love affair was discussed and spread by the people who knew him.

It was then, Yu Guofeng realized that he could not conceal his crimes anymore. So, he had arranged for both of his lovers to immigrate to Canada. He sent them overseas and bought a villa for them there.

By the time he was caught by the police, what he had left for Yu Sui and her mother was nothing but a debt of thirty million dollars.

Their house was auctioned off by the bank.

It was the only thing left that was valuable to them.

Moreover, one of Yu Guofeng’s lovers was his daughter’s classmate.

By then, Tang Li’s relationship with Han Jifeng as husband and wife had reached the freezing point. They seemed to be cold and distant toward each other even when they were out in the public together. So, she would never ask him anything about the Yu family even though she was curious about it.

At 8 p.m., a message was forwarded to every student from the acting course.

The art college would be holding an annual welcome party for the new students at the end of October.

After taking full consideration of what had happened in the morning, the dean decided to remove Yu Sui from acting as the main heroine for the opera. The four classes of the second year of the acting course were asked to hold a meeting to choose another student to act in the opera.

Wu Xuehan raised her opinion after she read the message, “I remember that there is only one girl who has had professional dance training, that is Yining.”

Tang Li recalled someone else when Wu Xuehan had mentioned Jiang Yining.

It was the second semester of the first year.

On that particular day, she had returned to the hostel from the library at night. When she passed by a small grove at Garden Bei, she had bumped into Jiang Yining hugging a guy who was wearing a pair of spectacles.

Later on, the students from the acting course and directing course had attended the same lecture, linear algebra.

It was then when she got to know that the guy was Yuan Jin.

However, Jiang Yining had always claimed that she had never had a love affair in all the three years that they were staying together at the same hostel in her former life. Moreover, Tang Li was a peculiar presence in the college at that time. Surely, she would not blurt it out.

Tang Li soon recalled something else.

Her memory seemed to be a little weak. She had no choice but to ask Wu Xuehan, “Regarding our results from the end-of-term exam last semester, who is right behind me in our ranking?”

Wu Xuehan tried to recall. “I think it was Yining.”

No wonder…

Tang Li finally understood something. She chuckled softly.

“The best students of our course share the same hostel with me. But, I didn’t score well in Further Mathematics. Otherwise, I would have been able to get the scholarship like you.” Wu Xuehan sounded like she was jealous of them. Suddenly, she realized something. She turned and looked at Tang Li before apologizing to her softly, “Ah Li, I’m sorry. I forgot that you…”

Wu Xuehan did not manage to finish her sentence as she was afraid that Tang Li might feel sad about it.

The name list for the scholarship for the semester had been announced last Thursday.

Tang Li’s name was not on the list.

Now, the first recipient of the scholarship belonged to Jiang Yining.

Tang Li smiled softly when she saw Wu Xuehan’s worried look. “I’m not in need of money now. I won’t be too poor even if I’m not entitled to get the scholarship.”

“Do you have money for your daily expenses?” Wu Xuehan was still worried.

Tang Li replied that she had. Then, she smiled. “I met a philanthropist a while back.”

She paused for a while. Then, she continued, “Just that, that philanthropist interferes too much with my affairs.”
