Lucky Star

Chapter 8 - PROMISE....

"Did we interrupt something?" De Xi quickly became Mu Chang's savior as she knew that anymore and Mu Chang might get a great fright.

"Nothing important, well are you done with your call, did something happen?" Mother Mu asked De Xi fondly as she pulled her to sit beside her.

"It was Jiu just reporting things to me, nothing special." De Xi said as she sat down beside Mother Mu.

"You brat, it is good that I found you here itself." a boisterous voice boomed throughout the living room from near the glass wall, acting at the partition between the entrance and the living room.

"G-Grandpa" Mu Chang went pale when he heard the voice. He looked towards De Xi with wide eyes, desperately begging for help.

"Don't scare my sweetheart." a woman in her late fifties chided the man, as she smiled warmly towards Mu Chang, Mu Cong, and De Xi.

"Grandpa, Grandma" Mu Cong, and De Xi greeted the Matriarch and Patriarch of the Mu Family in a warm and respectful tone.

"Grandma, here you are, I missed you so much." Mu Chang immediately rushed to his grandmother and hugged her longingly.

"Ouch!!... Grandpa, why did you hit me, Grandma, look at Grandpa bullying me right in front of you." Mu Chang complained in a wronged tone as he looked at his grandmother with a cute pout.

"You old geezer, how dare you to hit my precious grandson, for the next one week you are sleeping in the guestroom alone." Grandma Mu berate Grandpa Mu angrily as she pulled Mu Chang behind her protectively.

"Darling, because you spoil him like this, that is why he had the audacity to ɨmprėġnȧtė Biyu'er and hide it from us." Grandpa Mu said in a warm and soft tone.

"Who said I ɨmprėġnȧtėd Biyu? She is not pregnant. Who in the world gave you all this false information?" Mu Chang was frustrated and annoyed with everyone asking him the same thing.

"Till you tell us a reason which is believable, we will just ȧssume the most common facts." De Xi said calmly, with an expressionless face.

"But why does it have to be her being pregnant? It can something else, maybe jealousy or insecurities..." Mu Chang was annoyed by how persistent his family was about his love being pregnant.

"You did not start dating today, you are in a relationship for over eight years, do you realize how lame it sounds to say that you are now facing jealousy and insecurities?" Mu Cong asked in disbelief and annoyance.

Mu Chang sighed heavily. He looked towards his grandparents, parents, and older brother, all of them looking at him in distrust.

He then looked towards De Xi who was the only one who looked at him calmly, but there was a slight hint of amusement in her eyes as if she already knew what exactly was the reason amusing her to the extent.

"Will it be fine if I tell the real reason to just Lina?" Mu Chang asked in a sulky tone.

"Sure, why not?" Grandpa Mu agreed without any delay.

Others nodded their head in agreement as well, whereas De Xi raised her brows in amusement and surprise.

"Lina, do you agree?" Mu Chang asked hesitantly, but he was pleading with her wordlessly with his puppy eyes.

"Everyone agrees, why won't I?" De Xi commented casually as she started walking towards the East Patio, situated exactly opposite the river and the Olive-Oak garden.

Mu Cong immediately followed her without further delay, looking at their departing figures Grandma Mu sighed softly in helplessness.

"Grandma, trust me, Chang and Biyu are indeed playful and rash in their actions but are also mȧturė and responsible. If it is like what we are guessing, then they are not people to hide it." Mu Cong ȧssured his worried grandmother.

"I know don't worry, though I wavered for a moment, I still trust Chang and Biyu'er, they won't lie to us." Grandma Mu said as she smiled reassuringly towards Mu Cong.

"Even if they do lie to us, they would never lie to Xi'er. For them, Xi'er is like that kind of goddess who will solve all their problems the moment they tell her." Grandpa Mu said as he scoffed lightly, but delight clear in his eyes.

"I agree with you completely, Father." Mother Mu said as she smiled helplessly.

Everyone who was close to Mu Chang and Su Biyu knew how much they trusted and believe in De Xi, that if the latter asks for, they might not even hesitate to give their lives to her and this always brought delight and warmth to Mother Mu.

Though De Xi was not her biological daughter, she still cherished her as one.

In the past seven years, they were so close to each other that Mother Mu doubted if she would be so close to her own daughter.

"Old Master, Old Madam, the lunch is served please come to the dining area." Head Butler Melan entered the living room and respectfully invited the elder ones in the living indirectly requesting everyone to go to the dining area.

"Xi'er and Chang are in the East Patio. If they don't come out in another fifteen minutes, then call for them, we will wait for them in the dining area." Grandma Mu calmly but politely instructed Head Butler Melan and started towards the dining area, followed by others.

"Yes Old Madam, I shall do the same." Head Butler Melan took note of the order and stayed back in the living while she quickly informed the servants stationed near the living room of all the further instructions to be passed on.

Shortly after the elders along with Mu Cong left for the dining area, De Xi and Mu Chang were done with their talk and returned to the living room to find only Head Butler Melan waiting for them.

"Where are others Aunt Melan?" Mu Chang asked as he looked around.

"Everyone is waiting for you and Young Miss in the dining area for lunch.." Head Butler Melan informed them respectfully with a small, warm smile.
