Chapter 7 - PROPER REASON....

"I'll lay everything bȧrė in front of her, what to accept and what not to accept will be her decision. No matter what she chooses, I'll support her." De Xi said as she looked at the beautifully trimmed branches of Olive trees.

"What if she blamed you?" Mu Cong asked the most stupid question he would ever ask in his complete life.

Everyone around them knew very well that for Little Princess whatever her Mother does will always be right, doubting her mother will be the last thing she might do, let alone blaming her.

"I'll accept and support her no matter what it is, even if she blames me I'll accept it without any qualms." De Xi said calmly as she started walking towards the bamboo settee placed under a large Oak tree.

"Are you sure you don't want to tell her immediately? Telling her after everyone is here might be a lot of pressure on her." Mu Cong said as concern and worry reflected clearly in his grey orbs.

"I trust her, she can handle such kind of pressure better than others." De Xi replied calmly, with a straight, expressionless face.

"Little Princess is indeed different from other kids of her age, but that does not mean we will not treat her as one." Mu Cong said as he frowned in disagreement.

"Don't know when, but at some point in time, I started treating her like someone equivalent to me. She understood me so well I never realized that she was a small child as well." De Xi said as she sighed in defeat and ċȧrėssed the Juliet rose, which was in full bloom.

Mu Cong remained quiet as he could clearly see the internal conflict De Xi was battling. He knew the decision De Xi made was definitely the most difficult one she made throughout her life, but still could not understand her attitude towards Little Princess.

"To be exact, I'm afraid. Afraid of letting her down, afraid of failing her, afraid of failing her trust in me." De Xi sighed heavily as she buried her head inside her palms.

He knew one thing for sure; that De Xi trusted herself and her capability more than anything in this world, but seeing her afraid like this truly amazed and shocked him at the same time.

"Eva that day will never come in this lifetime, so don't worry." Mu Cong responded in a calm and confident tone.

"I hope it never does, I don't want to let her down. She always stood by me and supported me whenever I needed it, I don't want to repay her by failing her." De Xi said as she sighed in defeat, as she slumped back in her seat.

"Did you talk to Mei?" De Xi asked softly, slowly regaining her composure.

"I talked to her last night. She was also surprised that Chang and Biyu wanted to get married suddenly but then felt that maybe they were finally tired of being engaged for so many years and now they want to take the next step." Mu Cong chuckled softly.

"I agree with her as well, but it is just too abrupt that I'm not completely convinced by it." De Xi said as she sighed once again, earning a chuckle from Mu Cong.

"I'm afraid that by sighing so much you might bring the heavens down on the earth." Mu Cong chuckled softly in amusement.

"What can I do when both of these brothers of mine are so slow and confusing people. I can only sigh to show my frustrations to the heavens." De Xi said calmly in a remorseful tone.

She chuckled in amusement when Mu Cong glared daggers at her and scoffed in annoyance.

"You better not let me find something on you, because the day I do, you are done for." Mu Cong warned De Xi in a haughty tone before the duo burst out in fits of laughter.

"But why is this brat not even telling us the proper reason?" Mu Cong fumed in rage as he glared at the Olive tree in front of him.

"Maybe he is yet to find the right time and opportunity." De Xi reasoned on behalf of Mu Chang, with a casual shrug.

"I really hope he would share his concerns with me, I'm sure I'll be of wonderful help with his relationship issues." Mu Cong boasted as he smirked in satisfaction when he saw De Xi look at him disgruntled.

"Why don't you try solving your long-distance issue first and then talk about being an expert relationship adviser." De Xi said as she glared at Mu Cong coldly.

"Just a few more months and Ah Mei will be back at my side, then see how I fulfill Little Princess's request of additional playmates." Mu Cong grinned at the thought of his wife.

"You better respect my cousin's boundaries. If you cross them, I won't hesitate to make you sterile." De Xi said coldly as she walked away from Mu Cong.

It shook Mu Cong to the core when he heard De Xi's threat.

He of all people knew very well that she was more than capable of fulfilling her promise without batting an eye.

Meanwhile, De Xi was already crossing the river, when a thought crossed her mind. She nodded her head in agreement with herself and quickly made a call by the time Mu Cong caught up to her.

"Eva make sure to not scare me like that again till the wedding ends or else I might do into a shock and miss Chang's wedding." Mu Cong said solemnly as he placed a hand on his heart.

"I'll remember it." De Xi said seriously.

After a brief pause, they both started laughing at their antics and helplessly nodded their heads in disbelief as they proceeded back towards the living room.

They returned to find Mu Chang being interrogated by his parents seriously and the former sweating profusely.
