Amongst the Stars, Out in the Ocean, There's You

All this familiarity reminded Ye Fei of everything from her past.

She lost her mother at the age of three. Her father very quickly married a proper lady from an aristocratic family, who ended up being her stepmother – Jiang Huiru.

While the Jiang family is not rich. This woman was young and beautiful. Since a young age, her name had become well-known throughout the city. Perhaps she just had all the necessary tricks up her sleeves, Ye Fei's father gave up on the daughters of many wealthy families and ended up marrying her.

After Jian Huiru married into the Ye family, she treated Ye Fei with nothing but thoughtfulness and very much spoiled her. Not only did she take care of the Ye Fei's daily necessities, but she also patiently educated her, shaped her perspective, read her stories, and played games with her.

Ye Fei, who was only three at the time, very quickly discovered comfort after losing her mother. She naively treated this woman as her real mother.

Before a year was up, her stepmother Jiang Huiru gave birth to a baby girl, named Ye Ya. The next year, another baby girl was born, named Ye Ning.

Because the family was missing a son to take over the family business, Ye Ning was sent abroad when she turned one. She then proceeded to stay by her grandpa's side, leaving the giant Ye family villa to become Ye Ya and Ye Fei's playground.

Back then, to her, the little Ye Ya was just like an intelligent and well-behaved doll – extremely adorable.

That plus her stepmother's intentional scolding, Ye Fei couldn't help but spoil her, letting her win, and taking care of her. Again and again, she gave her little sister all of her favorite toys and gifts. Even after Ye Ya had grown up, as long as she asked, no matter how much Ye Fei liked something, she would willingly give it away to Ye Ya as a gift.

Sadly, her friendliness was not repaid. Instead, it aided in their greed.

Back then, she didn't understand that not everyone can afford hundreds of thousands of jade bracelets and millions of dollars worth of crystals are more than enough to make people red-eyed. Her naivete had attributed to her tragedy later.

When she turned 18, it was time to inherit her mother's will and also the best age of her life. The reality, however, was that her eighteenth year would be when her nightmare began.

"Fei Fei, where is Ming Wei? Tell him to come down and help his father greet the guests," her father had asked her kindly.

"Ming Wei accidentally spilled something on his shirt. He's changing in my room. Let me go check on him."

She was wearing a white princess dress and had on her head a crystal tiara her father had specially made in Austria. She walked into the house to tell her childhood friend and now her boyfriend, to hurry up. She wanted to call him to help her father greet the guests.

Her crystal shoes stepped onto the red carpet as if it was already destiny that she was a princess who will soon lose a crystal shoe.

She held onto the railings and when she was halfway up the stairs, she heard intense fighting from her stepmother's room.

"Miss Lu, your decision is far too hasty! Fei Fei is still young. For you to announce that now is the time for her to take over the inheritance, it will garner much aggression from others. Have you ever considered Fei Fei's safety!" Her stepmother explained with an anxious tone.

"Hmmph, Jiang Huiru, Fei Fei is young and doesn't know much, but that doesn't mean I am blind! All these years, you have been forcibly seizing Fei Fei's wealth. All those countless tricks never escaped me! You are not at all worried about Fei Fei's safety. You are simply too afraid to bring out the wealth in case she gets in your way of getting rich!"

"Missus Lu, I have treated Fei Fei like she is my own daughter. Why would my mind be on her assets? You are hurting me with all the things you are saying!"

"Enough! Stop faking it before me. All these years, you have used my daughter's inheritance for your own benefit numerous times. Now that Fei Fei is an adult, stop being delusional and still think you can touch what belongs to her. The Lu family is not to be taken advantage of!"

The elderly woman was determined and full of fury. The cane in her hand continuously slammed into the ground.
