Amongst the Stars, Out in the Ocean, There's You

"Missus Lu, are you sure you want to do this?" Jiang Huiru asked, refusing to resign.

Listening to the fight between the two, Ye Fei did not truly understand. She couldn't accept or understand why her grandmother was fighting against her stepmother.

She quickened her steps, wanting to stop them. But by the time she reached the top of the staircase, her stepmother suddenly opened the door.

Her grandma stormed out with much anger on her face. Her stepmother, wearing a dark green dress, followed her closely. There was a look of haste on her face.

"Fei Fei, we are leaving!" Her grandma walked over to her using her cane. Without pausing, she tried to drag her downstairs.

Ye Fei turned her body from the force. But at that moment, she clearly saw Jiang Huiru extend out her hands.

Her hands have been well taken care of. Her delicate and well-manicured painted nails have never experienced any work. This hand, the hand that was wearing her mother's ancestor's heirloom, an emerald gem ring, forcefully pushed her grandma from the back.

BANG!

Ye Fei only remembers how her grandma subconsciously let go of her hand. Then, her grandma rolled down the stairs before slamming into the ground. Next, a pool of blood formed from behind her head, slowly merging with the bright red carpet.

Her entire being was stunned. Redness was all she could see.

She looked back in disbelief, but her stepmother was long gone.

She was in shock and her entire body began to tremble. She ran up the stairs anxiously, losing a crystal shoe in the process. She remembered how her boyfriend was in her room. Crazily pushing open the door, she ran inside.

"Ming Wei, my grandma-"

She froze where she stood dumbfoundedly. Looking at her light pink princess bed, she found her boyfriend, whom she grew up with, in bed with her sweet and beautiful best friend.

She even forgot to cry. Two streaks of tears merely rolled down her cheeks. She turned around abruptly and step by step she left. She felt like the world had gone crazy!

No, maybe this is just a dream. A nightmare. One she will eventually wake up from!

In her bewilderment, she ran out of the mansion, bare feet. But the image of her stepmother's extended arm, her grandma's wide-open eyes, her boyfriend tangled together with her best friend, all those repetitively flashed across her eyes.

She covered her mouth with one hand and she shivered uncontrollably. Holding onto her remaining crystal shoe, her tears fell like a pearl necklace with a broken string. She didn't even know who to run to.

With her feet bare, she stepped onto the roads full of rocks. Her feet hurt – a constant reminder that none of this is a dream.

The tiara on her head was now tilted and messy. Like a deserter who had abandoned her shield and armor, she should've realized right there and then that her 18th years was destined to be a joke.

She didn't know how long she walked like this when a pair of hands from behind grabbed onto her. A strange-smelling handkerchief tightly covered her nose and mouth.

When she awakened, she was lying on top of a soft and giant bed. She felt a shock of happiness, as she thought everything that happened was merely a nightmare.

However, when she looked over, she saw a strange man lying beside her, forcing her to once again cover her mouth with her hand. Her entire being trembled and tears fell.

Before she could react, a strange woman brought in a group of people and rushed into the room. They slapped her a few times mercilessly. The swelling pain made her understand the reality can always be worse than your imagination!

"What is your relationship with Secretary Zhang?" The police inquired impatiently.

She looked over to the strange man sleeping beside her and had absolutely no idea what went on or who could help her. She merely shook her head, flustered. She shook her head as if she had gone crazy.

"You are now a suspect for committing adultery with a government official. Please come with us as we conduct our investigation."
