A Twilight Promise

Afternoon, Rin called Yuuki, telling her that she will meet her with Fumi. After hanging up the call, she looked around her room. There is a stack of paper on the table in front of her. While there are also a lot of paper scrapped and thrown on the floor.

She sighed. "So this happens when I was focusing writing huh?" She said. She started cleaning her room. She then took a shower. She goes back to her table and grabbed a piece of paper Fumi gave her. It's a very short summary of the story they wanted her to write.

"It better be a good one." She told herself. She looked outside the window. "Ah, it's already evening. I should prepare dinner now..." She said then hurries out from her room.

The next day, she called Fumi to meet at a cafe nearby the campus. "Fumi, what kind of person is this Yuuki person?" Rin asked. Fumi gulps down her drink and then shows a rather sad expression. "Huh, anything happened? Did I said something that I shouldn't?" Rin gasped.

"Nothing, I think you will understand if you meet her later." Fumi said with a little grin. Fumi and Rin then travelled to the hospital, visiting Yuuki and her drama club. Yuuki appeared in the hallways, welcoming them. Rin was shocked to see that the girl is not an ordinary high school girl, but a patient in a hospital.

"So Yuuki is it? About the play, which school's drama club you're in?" Rin asked. "No, our drama club is from this hospital. We're all patients from here." Yuuki replied. Rin is shocked, Fumi then explained their situation to her.

"A chronic illness huh? Very well, let's get into practice." Rin said. Yuuki called over the members. They begin their practice for the play. Ryujii read the script. "A demon king who launched a war with a human kingdom, and kidnapped a human princess. The princess was treated nicely by the demons. On a battle against humans, the demon king died, the princess is rescued and married a prince, the end."

Ryujii is dumbfounded. "What the heck is this?" He exclaimed. Yuuki and the others took over and read along. All of them burst into laughter. Rin suddenly hit their heads with a rolled up paper. "It was you people who are going to act according to my script, just decide who you want to be, and just deal with it!" She shouted in the room.

They finally reluctantly decided their roles, Yuuki plays the princess, Ryujii plays the demon king, Haruto plays the prince. Aki, Fuyuko and Miku play the demon underlings. While the others will become civilians.

Yuuki saw it too, and Ryujii's hand signal. She winked and delivered a cute message back to Ryujii. Both of them are of course in love of each other, but none of them spoke about it at all. She then gathered everyone, Rin as well is invited to follow them. "Are you trying to run away? It's still early to stop the practice." She said.

Yuuki frowned and drags her along. The whole club plus Fumi went up to the rooftop. Rin struggles along the way. "Why do you drag me here? Are you trying to push me down there?!" Rin was terrified. The group paused for a moment and then laughs together.

Yuuki gently turns Rin's head to the sunset. Rin did not understand the meaning of this, but she looked at the sunset as well. Everyone there actually knew what they were doing, they enjoyed the view silently.

The winds passed by, the girls' hair swayed along the wind, so as their clothes. It was cool, as autumn is coming, the yellowish sky slowly darkens, streetlights lit up the streets. It's finally twilight. Everyone is frozen in awe, enjoying the twilight. Rin was struck with an inspiration.

After watching the twilight, she retrieved the script and said that she will return with a better script than this. And then she dashes off. "Rin seems to worry about your condition, so she tries to make the practice faster so that the play can happen earlier. Not to mention she wrote a lot of drafts for today, it could be that she couldn't think of anything relevant with the ideas you gave her. She seems energised a bit, I'm happy for her." Fumi sighs and then follows her.

"Twilight huh? What a great idea!" Rin thought. She then returned home and wrote another script. This time, she scrapped zero papers. It seems like she is very satisfied with the new script. She fell asleep with great expectations for showing Yuuki the new script.
