When I growup

Chapter 4:would I drink?

"Miss Jah, can you please move from this seat?"

I sat near the window, I am a cautious child. Even though I am merely six with a small stature, I can jump in case of any danger and run away or I can hide quickly. To me, this seat is simply perfect, especially with so many cannon fodders directly between me and the danger that could potentially enter through the door. Even though the classroom is large each child had their own desk, the room had two bathrooms one for male and female, it still looked--at least, like a classroom.

What was even better for someone who is only close to siblings but distant to strangers, each desk was placed three meters from the other adding to the fact that twenty children are in this classroom it can tell about the structure of the classroom.

"Miss Jah! I am speaking to you!"

The girl raised her voice a pitch higher, my face did not betray my mind.

I was zen inside chanting 'old ladies do not bow down to the level of a child,'

En,they do not, so I will lean lazily on my left hand while gazing outside at the beautiful bright red peach blossom trees.

"Such a rude child refusing to speak when addressed,"

"Her family must be quite poor to have a child-like her,"

"Look at her, why would they transfer someone who looks so strange to our school?"

"Miss Mai, please leave student Jah, she was here first and had--ah!"

'Pa!' The sound rang in my ears, a normal person might have stood quickly to help the girl who tried to defend her but...I don't need defending.

This one will never take a loss, never in her last life and none in this.

Look how hard life was back then, I was an orphan and had been continually cursed as a child who was both mother and fatherless.

I had no roots and I was one of those.

I knew the ways of people, I came from a small island ignorant, a third world child who had to learn the language, the poise...it was fine by me.

People in general are not comfortable with different, they would reject and therefore try to destroy.

These children, they are the same, Him and even in another world thousands of years in the future on another planet are the same.

"Look at her, the girl tried to defend her but she simply sat there,"

"Hateful!"

"We must not befriend a child like her,"

"Miss Jah, I feel stifled so I only ask that you allow me to take your window seat, is that too much to ask?"

Is her guts not big?

To have the cheek to say such things? And the girl who tried speaking up to me but was slapped, who asked her? Am I crying? Did any of these children dare hit me? It is fine to scold, dogs bark, even if you yell for them to be silent it would still continue. What of telling children to be silent then?

This old lady will stay silent, she will stare at the beautiful red peach blossom trees, the milky white sky and the four suns in the sky.

It is the future, another planet but it is not different from back on earth. Advanced, surely but still…

"You girls are young but you are already vicious! Student Jah was the first to enter the class this morning, she has the privilege of taking her seat before any other students because of this. Why must you, who is among the last to arrive make trouble for her? I tell you! I don't care if you are a pampered girl but beware! I will protect student Jah since you girls have ganged up on her!"

"I will too, student Jah is too pretty to be bullied!"

"I will protect student Jah!"

"Student Jah is like a little fairy, your eyes are not fit to look down at the little fairy. Further your mouths each time you talk it is as if you are passing air, releasing a stench enough to sicken one who can both smell and hear. Go away from crowding the fairy and therefore my desk!"

Four little flowers spoke, their words caused me to blink, such sweet words.

Inwardly I stirred but outwardly I was as still as a stature. Soon the girls dispersed, finally leaving me free of their presence. Six year old children are vicious!

I tried not to shudder but could not help it, a boy who sat behind me suddenly spoke up, "student Jah, are you feeling cold?"

'No, I simply shuddered-' my inward dialogue was cut off when a shiny flask was presented to me suddenly. Startled I saw the golden mug placed gently on the table and opened by the most beautiful white hands, steam rose from the open mouth, the small top which now resembled a cup was placed directly in front of me. The perfume scent of one of my most favoured tea reached my nose. My eyes fluttered close, and I took a deep breath unable to resist this. The sound of liquid being poured was heard and the milky voice spoke. "Student Jah, please have a cup of my Kangloo tea!"

Eyes opening I saw the boy who stood in front of me, his head was bowed so it was hard to see his full features but his dark bowl cut hair-- an exact replica of all males present covered his eyebrows, I saw his long thin eyes that is mostly a characteristic to most students present, his lips were small but pink a stark contrast against his flawlessly pale skin.

Watching the cup he held, I reached out and took it then slowly brought it to my lips and took the first sip.

I may be old due to the memories of my past life and six in body, I saw these small children as that...children. It is just; I failed to see the look that flashed within those dark eyes. If I had seen it and the various looks within the classroom would I drink? No! This one would not drink!

Ay~

I regret!

I regret ever taking a sip furthermore drinking the entire cup of tea.
