However, Xiu Mei was already careful of this man's moves and dodged the bullet on time. Before he could fire another shot she jumped over the dead bodies and kicked his wrist, sending the pistol to roll away at a distance.

Holding his wrist she twisted his hand at an awkward angle behind him and pinned his body on the ground. He squeaked like a pig feeling the dislocation of his elbow and wrist bone.

"Shut up you moron. One more scream and I'll kill you just like how I killed your so-called brothers" She pressed her knees on man's spinal cord to hold him down and buckled his lower jaw, ready to twist his head backwards.

"No… No… mother, please. Don't kill me"

"Ehhh!? Yukkk!?" Xiu Mei couldn't help but twist her face in disgust. "If you don't have death wish then answer all my questions. I might let you go out of mercy" she growled and sat down over him.

"Yes… yes… I'll answer all your questions. But don't kill me"

"How did I come here?"

"My comrade and I heard a loud crashing noise while passing through the jungle and found you unconscious on reaching there. We thought you could fetch a good price if sold to the commander"

"Did you saw someone else in the forest? Anyone?"

"No… It was too dark to walk deeper inside the forest. After getting you we didn't look for anyone else but picked some random things from the accident site"

"Where are those things?"

"In the adjoining room"

"Who is the commander you are talking about?"

"No… please… He will kill me if I betray him"

She scoffed and twisted his head to the left, "He will kill you later. How about I half twist your neck at an odd angle and leave you struggling? I'm sure in this war zone no one will come to help you. Tsk… tsk… such a painful death"

"No… please no"

"Then answer me!"

"C-Commander Zeus is our leader. He assigns us task depending on our capabilities"

"What task?" She asked with a furrowed brow.

"J-Just random errands…. Nothing special"

"Say it or I will….. Ahh…" Before she could ask anything the man tried to stab her with a dagger but misjudged the position and it landed on her waist belt. But the sharp danger managed to enter an inch or two into her skin.

"Wrong move" She pulled out the same dagger stabbed to her waist, pulled his hair backward and slit his throat in a swift move. His body convulsed unnaturally as he struggled to breathe but failed. Xiu Mei's expression was calm yet frightening, considering she killed six men in less than 10 minutes. She searched the bodies of all men to get her watch.

'Damn!' She cursed on finding her smartwatch in a broken condition. Don't know if this is the handiwork of these morons or it happened during the crash. She tied it to her wrist anyhow as she cannot read Jianyu's location or stats because of the broken screen but he can check everything related to her if his watch is still in workable condition.

Her wound was bleeding profusely; thankfully the emergency band that contains mini robotic clamps to stop the bleeding was still with her. She lay back on the bed to clean the injured site with the liquid inside the vial. Biting her lips she suppressed the pain and put the robotic thing inside her open wound.

Her tired body wanted some rest, but seeking rest is a luxury for her right now. 'C'mon Mei…. Buck up… Ahhhh… Buck up for Jianyu…"

She shouted at herself and dragged her body outside to check other rooms to find the bag Jianyu gave her for an emergency. After finding the bag she checked its contents and was surprised as it was a complete combat bag with emergency food, water, first-aid, compass, flashlight, and many other useful things.

Right now the thing she required most was First-aid. In the hope of finding painkillers, she checked the kit but frowned when they were just basic painkillers. These baby painkillers are good for nothing on her body since the incident seven years back. On finding the injection of sufentanil in the kit she was tempted to take it but this contains properties of sedation as it is 500 times as potent as morphine. She chucked it back inside the kit and took the oral pills anyway to suppress the pain for time being.

Xiu Mei was about to leave the place when she heard some muffled cries coming from one of the rooms. She pushed open the door, pointing the gun and flashlight forward and saw a group of man and woman cowered into the corner, glaring at her.

Probably her action scared them as some of them begged for mercy.

"Rest assured I'm not one of them. They are dead. Come out" She raised both her hands and said rather softly.

As they stepped out of the room, she was surprised as there were mostly woman and children in this group. Looking at their poor condition she understood they were locked up without any food and water. She pointed her finger at a door, "There are food and water in that room"

Her one sentence and few kids licked their lips glancing at the door. One of the old men muttered the courage to go and check if this is not a trap. After a satisfactory inspection, he called all of them excitedly to eat something.

Xiu Mei waited for them patiently to get the answers to her question…

This was one of her tricks to win their trust…

"Can someone tell me why were you all locked inside?" She asked after they were done having their fill.

"T-To take us to Commander Zeus" One of them mustered up the courage to speak.

"Why?"

"Because…. We are the wives and kids of rebels. Our husbands are revolting against the illegal activities happening here"

"Yes… When my father refused to sign on the doc.u.ment to sell our ancestral land they kidnaped him from the farm after a few days. I saw it with my own eyes. He never returned home after that day" A kid answered crying for his lost father.
