In fact, Ruan Tian was currently in Qin Yu’s room. She had gone upstairs in order to find a charger for her phone, and she was surprised when she noticed that the sheets and quilt on Qin Yu’s bed had all been changed for pink ones.

The suddenly pink bed was extremely inconsistent with the monotone black-and-white style of the rest of the bedroom.

It was like an abrupt flare of warmth in the midst of the otherwise cold room.

Ruan Tian was only surprised for a moment before turning back to her task. She opened the top drawer of the nightstand, but there was no charger inside, so she opened the next drawer.

When she opened this drawer she saw there were many small items and trinkets inside, and they seemed strangely familiar.

Ruan Tian paused and slowly took out a few of the items inside. They were all very old and seemed to be items a girl would use.

Headbands, hairpins, post-it notes, worthless decorative rings, well-worn books, and so on…

She recognized this hairpin. It had very poor quality, and the pink outer-layer had already worn through in places, exposing the grey iron underneath.

For some reason, Ruan Tian’s mind was suddenly full of images of Qin Yu’s eyes back in those days.

Eyes that seemed indifferent or else full of hostility, but eyes that were always staring at her.

She remembered how Qin Yu used to stubbornly follow her around. How she would go to a new place or find a new job, but he would always inevitably appear.

Then he would say something inexplicable or do something a little over the line, never actually hurting her but always keeping her on edge.

He had been like a sticky vine that entangled and clung to her.

Qin Yu suddenly pushed open the door and entered the room. His eyes widened fractionally. Unexpectedly, Ruan Tian had stumbled across the evidence of the dirtiness in his heart from when he was young.

This little collection of items were the result of his crazy feelings of love back then, as well as his unwillingness and hysteria.

Back then, he had been completely crazy. Like a tortured lunatic.

Ruan Tian suddenly realized that all of these trinkets and items were things that had used to belong to her, but which she had lost at some unknown point in time.

Ruan Tian had a sudden recollection of a day back in high school. She had been coming back from PE class and had found Qin Yu sitting on her seat, lying on her desk, as if asleep.

However, as soon as she approached, the cold young man had stood up from her desk.

Ruan Tian had asked subconsciously, “What are you doing sitting at my desk?”

At that moment, Qin Yu’s face had a very unnatural expression, but he didn’t say anything in reply and just left by the back door.

However, for the adolescent Ruan Tian…

The only thing on her mind was one person: Shen Shu.

All of her thoughts, all of her joyous or unhappy emotions, all of it was focused solely on him.

Thus, the Ruan Tian of that day was unable to see the resentment and powerlessness, as well as the distortion and madness, simmering at the bottom of Qin Yu’s eyes even when she was looking directly at him.

She couldn’t see his awkwardness or understand his twisted thoughts.

Instead, she only had a few vague impressions of Qin Yu. For instance, that he always followed her around like a shadow, or the crazy and morbid expression on his face when he had burst into laughter after forcibly kissing her that day.

Meanwhile, in the present, Qin Yu wasn’t embarrassed at all even though Ruan Tian had found the things inside the drawer. He just said calmly with his usual expression, “It seems the snow has stopped, we can go out in the yard and make a snowman if you’d like.”

Ruan Tian slowly straightened up and turned to face Qin Yu. Then she said softly, “Qin Yu, when did you fall in love with me?”

“Very early on.”

In fact, it was as early as that day when the innocent and bewildered young Ruan Tian had stumbled to the door of his bedroom.

It was from that day that this woman had already broken into his world.

He had met her first, but unexpectedly, his path had ended up being blocked by Shen Shu for so many years.

Ruan Tian pondered for a moment, then said, “You can be counted as having pretty good vision.”

Qin Yu nodded and responded: “I also think my vision is pretty good.”

When the two went downstairs together after that, they seemed to be in-sync with one another in a way that they usually weren’t.

In the end, Ruan Tian was still afraid of the cold, so she stayed inside the living room and silently watched as Qin Yu went out and made a big snowman through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

After spending more than half an hour out in the ice and snow, Ruan Tian noticed that Qin Yu had started coughing, however, he still persisted. A little after that, the snowman was done and Qin Yu returned to the living room. His fingers were red with cold, and his eyebrows were covered with a thin layer of frost.

Qin Yu drank a few mouthfuls of hot water to warm his body, then opened his mouth and seemed to have something to say.

But before he could speak, Qin An suddenly shouted from the other end of the dining room: “Come over and eat dinner!”

The hot pot had been made and was sitting on the table steaming hot. Moreover, Qin An had already taken out the wine which had previously been put away.

Ruan Tian poured herself a cup and took a small sip.

The sweet taste of wine spread in her mouth and her lips curled into a smile.

Qin Yu sat at his seat but just stared at Ruan Tian without moving his chopsticks at all. His eyes were fixed unwaveringly on her face. He endured for a long time, then finally began to speak slowly: “Ruan Tian…”

“Think it over. Let’s get together.”
