Chapter 43: It is Scary When It is Suddenly Silent

“Dad…” The girl’s said hesitantly.

Then, both Attorney General Xia and his wife looked at Tang Li who had now lowered her head. She seemed quite timid and scared. She said with an extremely low voice, “The college is asking me to pay the sponsorship fee that costs fifty thousand dollars. I’ve thought of so many ways but I still cannot manage to pay it.”

Li Wenyan was speechless.

“Why are you only telling me about this now? Why haven’t you told me earlier?” Ou Yangqian seemed to feel a little uncomfortable. She was explaining herself as well as eliminating their awkwardness. “I have banked in the college fee to your bank account last August. Regarding that sponsorship fee, you shouldn’t have hidden it from us. It’s only fifty thousand dollars. I’ll bank it into your card later.”

Tang Li seemed quite frightened. “I don’t want your money. Otherwise, Yuan’er is going to beat me up again.”

Li Yuan’er was so angry that she started stamping her feet. “You liar!”

Ou Yangqian saw that her naïve daughter was about to lose control again. So, she had no choice but to interrupt them. “Stop fooling around. You should know not to joke about those kinds of things. Now, get out there and settle your issues before you come back in.”

“Mom!” Li Yuan’er was displeased.

Tang Li was waiting for a chance to get away from them. She turned and left directly.

Tang Li did not stay there when she left the bowling club on the second floor.

The club was huge and the hallways were interconnected with different kinds of places.

She had lost her sense of direction so she could only look for the elevator based on her memory.

She saw a familiar figure from the corner of her eyes when she passed by the gym. Ji Ming was standing by the French window, holding a towel in his hand.

Tang Li stopped walking when she guessed the reason why Ji Ming was there.

Eventually, she saw Song Boyan there.

Ji Ming was just like Song Boyan’s shadow. He was not only responsible for taking care of Song Boyan’s daily routines; he was also in charge of Song Boyan’s personal safety. Hence, one might be able to locate Song Boyan if he saw Ji Ming nearby. One just had to take a closer look and surely he would see Song Boyan.

Song Boyan was having his back training at the gym.

Although she had left the matchmaking session, she was unsure of the result. She could not affirm whether Xia Zhengguo and his wife would look down on her. Li Wenyan and Ou Yangqian were there to resolve their conflicts. Surely, they would throw in a lot of good words for her so the Xia family would not care about her rudeness just now.

In her former life, Li Wenyan had wanted Tang Li to be married to the Xia family because of Ou Yangqian’s persuasion.

The arranged marriage was brought forward and one could not help but think that it was Ou Yangqian’s punishment for Tang Li for her disobedience.

Tang Li put her right hand into the pocket of her coat.

There she had with her the cigarette box that she always carried with her these past few days.

It was the cigarette box that she had taken from Song Boyan’s car.

Her fingers touched the slightly cold surface of the golden cigarette box as she slowly tightened her fingers around the box.

Suddenly, some unrealistic thoughts flashed into her mind. It was too quick that she did not manage to pick them up. Besides that, she was not brave enough to dwell on those thoughts for long.

As she was about to leave, she met with Ji Ming who had just left the gym.

Ji Ming was not holding a towel anymore. He walked toward her. Clearly, he had seen her there.

Ji Ming then spoke to her respectfully, ” Mr. Song said that he has something to ask you if you’re not in a rush.”

It was Saturday morning. There were not many people in the gym.

Tang Li followed behind Ji Ming into the gym. Song Boyan was still sitting at the chair where he had his training just now, wiping his sweat with a towel.

Ji Ming left them quietly after he had led Tang Li to Song Boyan.

Song Boyan put down the towel and looked up at Tang Li. He looked at her with gentleness. “Clearly, black hair suits you better given how young you are.”

Tang Li did not beat around the bush. She chose to ask him directly, “Mr. Ji said that you want to ask me about something.”

Song Boyan neither denied that nor replied to her inquiry.

He picked up the water bottle next to the equipment.

Tang Li felt that he was ignoring her now.
