Reincarnation of the Cheater

After the elder's heard his statement about the situation they all went quiet as if they had no right to go against it in the first place.

'I can see who has the real power in this village. If they want to go against him they probably have to all band together and it doesn't seem like that could happen any time soon.'

"Human, we have invited you here to our home to request your help in a problem we have. Would you please help us?" The village chief says as he faces me still with his stern face.

"I'd like to hear about the problem first before I promise anything." I answer after deciding that I owe them but I hope they don't be excessive.

"Of course, our current problem is what you fought against. A parasite has taken over one of our best fighters and has gone rampant. It's been attacking everything in its path friend or foe and we have only found one lead on how to get rid of this parasite. The current situation is that we have him chained down in the village prison but we don't know how long that can last. We want you to go into our trial chambers and get choose a certain reward. The reward in question is called "Full Restore" it gets rid of all status ailments and will get rid of that parasite for good." The elven chief says as a notification appears in my retina.

[Quest: Help the Elves]

[Quest info: The elves are being terrorized by the sight of their kin being controlled against their will. Thankfully the elves have found a possible solution for their current problem but none of them are able to retrieve the item required. Many have tried but all have failed, will you be any better?]

[Quest Rewards: +1 Level, +1 Skill Level up Card, 100 System Points]

[Time Limit: 3 days]

'Of course, I would help with those kinds of rewards. The system must want the elf that was taken over by a parasite to live since it even brought out a new type of card and guaranteed a level up for me.'

'Yes.'

[You have accepted the quest, the current time remaining for the quest is 3 days. Complete the quest before the parasite completely erases the remaining will of the corrupted elf.]

"I'll accept your request on the condition that you tell me why you can't just get one of the elves that live here to do it instead of a random human like me." I say even though I already accepted the quest from the system.

"Alright, I can head over to the trial right now since you guys seem like there is a time frame that you need the reward item. I will try my best to rush through the trials." I answer the elven chief as all the elder elves stare at me with distrust. It seems that they aren't happy that a human is going to save them from a mess they couldn't clean up themselves.

"Yes, we believe that the time limit until the parasite completely takes over is 5 days at the most. We hope you can rush through the trials and claim the "Full Restore" as your reward. We elves will give you an elven magic tool to trade for it." The village chief says as the other elder elves all look at him in astonishment.

"Are you sure he deserves that? Weren't we in agreement that all magic tools made by elves were to only be used by elves? The humans have been known to reverse engineer the magic tools of the past, are you sure we want to give the humans even more power than they have right now?" One of the elder elves who has been quiet until now finally spoke his mind in the elven language.

"Quiet. I believe I told you that I already made my decision." The elven chief says in a loud voice as he has the guards that were waiting escort me to the destined location.

As we continue to walk to the back of the elf village all the elven guards are surrounding me as the village chief follows behind with the elders. With complete silence between the elven guards, the elven elders, the elven village chief, and I, we finally reach the trial location.

The assumed trial location looks to be an ordinary cave in the side of a small hill. Everywhere I look is covered with green, grass everywhere up to my ankles, trees as far as the eye can see, and vines hanging from the branches.

"Enter in through the cave and the trial will begin, we prepared some supplies in advance for you that you will end up needing for the trial. Please remember that you need to beat the fifth trial in order to receive the "Full Restore" as your reward." The elven chief hands me a bag filled with random items. Looking through the items I look at one that caught my attention and decide to appraise it.

'Appraisal'

Item Name: Scarlet Orb

Item Description: Used to activate the hard mode for the elven trial, this item was said to be made by the elven hero from long ago. Use it to increase the difficulty of the trials and increase the rewards gained at the end of the trial.

Item Rating: S+

A ball radiating dark red light from within it was reacting as I got closer to the entrance of the cave. As I was sent into the trial by the elves I entered into the cave entrance bracing myself for the increased difficulty. As I go inside the entrance of the cave disappears and a voice is heard inside my head.

"Do you wish to start the trial?" A monotone voice said in my head.
