Reincarnation of the Cheater

Chapter 27:Invitation to Dinner

'Should I try a restaurant or something? I haven't really explored this city at all.' I start to think about what to do for dinner while going down the hall and decide to go and shop around town for the first time.

'I really haven't been anywhere except the adventurer's guild, and the Inn I stay at.' I say thinking back on all I have done so far. Reaching the stairs I see Silvia, Edward, Rose, and Elaine together at a nearby table. Upon seeing me walk near the table they call me over and I grab a nearby chair.

"Congratulations on reaching D-Rank, you can now be considered an adventurer." Silvia says.

"Thanks, congratulations to all of you as well." I say to all the others who have passed with me.

Looking at everyone one here I notice that some people are missing so I ask. "Where are the three others who look like thugs?"

"They said they had to go back to training so they went ahead and left." Rose says as she left the guild masters office with them.

'I see, they didn't talk much so I just thought the author didn't like them. Seems like my suspicion was correct.'

"That's fine, they seemed like they didn't want to be bothered anyway." I answer thinking that we are missing one more person.

...

Ah!

"Where did Marvin go, I didn't see him ion the guild master's office or on the way back either." I ask.

"Oh, you probably don't know because you're new around here but he is the Lord's son so he can act however he wants as long as it isn't too out of hand." Edward answers while drinking some water.

"That's kinda unfair treatment isn't it." I say.

'I want to be like that. How can I be a cheater and not get those benefits as well.'

"Well it's fine with him, he never abuses it. The worst thing I've heard rumors about him doing is giving a Weapon and Armor shop a hard time, even to the point of stopping people from entering to buy anything, later on, they were found to be colluding against the lord with another noble so I would say that he is using it responsibly." Elaine says as she stands up.

"Wait, weren't you going to invite him." Rose says from behind Elaine's back.

"Invite who?" I ask.

Hearing Rose's taunts Elaine tries to shy away but Rose stops her and gives her a push.

"You were the one who wanted to ask him, so say it." Rose says encouraging her friend.

Elaine looks at Rose and then me with a red face and asks, "Would you like to join us for dinner tonight? We have a reservation for 6 people at 'The Melting Pot', it's a famous restaurant in town and the food is to die for, even nobles who are traveling make reservations weeks ahead so they can eat there. I heard it was based on the food ideas the hero brought with him from the other world." She says while looking me in the eyes with a burning passion.

"Sure, I have no plans for dinner anyway." I say trying to ease the awkwardness.

As we all sit down and talk some more there is a commotion at the front entrance of the guild and people are gathering so we get up and head towards the crowd. In the middle of the crowd is a man with extravagant armor with an insignia painted on, getting off his horse.

"I need to speak with your guild master, my liege would like to set a meeting." He demands towards the receptionists who have come over.

'Wow this guy is keeping his distance from the adventurers, he acts like a douche.'

Upon buying the skill it seems it was passive as it automatically let me hear father and clearer than before but I can barely hear the guild master and the knight talking. After the skill points were put into the skill "Listen" the conversation went from mumbling to a whisper. Listening in on them the conversation takes a terrible turn.

"You know I can't keep them away, all I can do is to relay your message and hope they don't go there." the guild master says troubled.

It seems like nobles have some kind of benefits in this world. I just hope this noble isn't a Dick and tries to cause a scene. After the knight finishes giving his warning the guild master escorts him out and then shuts the door on his way back in.

"That knight was Sir Bensworth's knight he says to stay away from "The Melting Pot" for tonight. You all know how Nobles deal with problems so just stay away from him." the guild master says as he looks around scanning the crowd and then stops on me and my group.

"Follow me." he says as he heads into the back room.

As we all follow him into the back room he locks the door behind us and looks at me with a super serious face.

"I heard you guys have a reservation at The Melting Pot." he says.

"Fucking elephant ears." I say under my breath cursing his big ass ears.
