Oath of Love

Chapter 32: Lamb in Lion’s Den (3)

Half an hour later, she stood at the gate of Royal Nightclub. It was an extremely splendid architecture. Even An Ran who never went to a nightclub could tell it was the best in A City. Its guests were celebrities and the most powerful people in A City.

Although the gate was open, it was not open hours for the nightclub yet and there were only few people. She remembered when she had passed it in the evening, there were pretty and good-featured receptionists in long dresses welcoming people at the door.

An Ran couldn't name the luxurious cars parking at the square.

She walked inside steadily. It was dim. But the marble still reflected the furniture. If the lights were all on, it must be dazzling.

A waiter who was cleaning saw her coming in and asked, "Who are you looking for?"

Right, who? She was so nervous just now that she forgot to ask the other person's name. She had to say, "I, I'm here for the loan."

"The loan?" The waiter was surprised, as if loaning was not something that was gonna happen here.

The other waiter said, "Oh, she might be looking for Zhao. He's in the farthest office on the third floor."

"Thank you." An Ran smiled politely. She asked about the elevator and walked away.

She heard them talking in a low voice behind her.

"She is pretty."

"Lamb in lion's den." The voice sounded regretful.

An Ran felt insecure instantly. She knew it was not a clean place. But she didn't have other ways. She needed the money.

The nightclub had turned on the air-conditioner. It was cold. An Ran held her arms and walked into the elevator.

She knocked on the door of the office.

Zhao sat cross-legged with a cigar dangling from his lips. He squinted at An Ran who was standing in front of him, then played with An Ran's ID card. Then he blew out a cloud of smoke.

"Miss An, 100,000 is not a large number, but how are you gonna pay it back?"

"I, I'll find a job right away and pay you back every month." An Ran was disturbed by Zhao's gaze.

"Every month?" Zhao laughed. "That will only cover the interest."

An Ran bit her lips and didn't say anything. She knew it wouldn't be easy to take the money.

Zhao stood up and walked around her while staring at her. He said vaguely as if he meant something else, "Miss An, you have a nice body. Although you are not super pretty, your qualities can have a market for the time being."

"What do you mean?" An Ran took a step back nervously.

Zhao laughed. "I'm open for business. Let me be clear. Miss An, you can never afford the debt. I'm a person caring for women, so I've decided to help you. But you have to work at my nightclub. A pure girl like you often attracts many rich people. Once they are happy, they will tip you for tens of grand. You will pay off your debt with one guest."

"No." An Ran refused him out of instinct. She knew the so-called "work" was to sell her body.

"No?" Zhao sneered. "Then I'll have to ask you to leave, Miss An."

An Ran didn't move. She swallowed deeply and said, "I've heard that there is an option to just accompany guests for drinks…" She was too embarrassed to go on.

"You won't earn much from it. Even if there were guests tipping you, it would be no more than 800 or 1000." Zhao saw that she was persuaded, so he softened his smile. He reached his hand to touch An Ran's jaw, but she retreated.

"I'll pay it back slowly." An Ran said firmly. "I'll only accompany guests for drinks."
