When Ye Lin was a kid, he tried fortunetelling once near the entrance of the Lama Temple.

The fortune teller who read his face told him that he would be a powerful person but also a fatal sign to his parents. Therefore, he would become a foster son of someone. But broadly, he would have great luck in his life as a blessing in disguise.

Ye Lin was rubbed on the wounds, so he always kept these words in his mind.

This year, he had been investigated for eight month, and soon after he got out, his uncle got the role.

The blessing in disguise becomes true. However, it makes Ye Lin feels slightly uncomfortable.

This is the second miserable Lunar's New Year's Eve for Ye Lin.

The first was last year, he was detained in a military hostel.

And this year, his parents didn't come back from the south, and his younger brother went to the south also to spend the holiday with them. Ye Lin didn't follow them because of those vexing thoughts in his mind, he stayed in Beijing. His uncle had been on the news during the New Year and his cousin went to visit her parents-in-law. What's more, it's not a good time to meet his wife, since that would make them feel weird and uncomfortable, plus she had went back to her own home already. And Yu Yue was also leaving.

Now Ye Lin becomes a real loner.

On the New Year's Eve, he makes two dished for himself and open a bottle of Remy Martin. While watching the Spring Festival Gala and enjoying the alcohol, he starts wondering that why he is so upset as no one likes him.

In the first day of the New Year, his uncle calls him to come over.

"I'm not supposed to visit you on the first day, right?" He lays on the bed since he didn't get up.

"What kind of visiting is it? This is your home." His uncle insists on the phone, "come on, I'm only free today, tomorrow will be busy."

Ye Lin has to get up. Thinking for a long time, it's like the uncle is the only one who cares about him. When the accident happened last year, he couldn't rely on his parents since they were in Guangdong and didn't come back. Ye Lin didn't call them until he was released.

Now his uncle has moved back to the place where his grandfather lived in, and changed to a more spacious room. Ye Lin has lived here with his grandfather when he was a child, but he has not come for many years. Now he comes in again and has a walk around, seeing nothing has changed outside but the fitments and decorations are new inside. Also, the people have almost been changed completely.

Ye Lin passes an old house while walking along the water with his uncle. It reminds Ye Lin of something in the past. He points the building: "where's the crazy daughter in that house?"

"She's been in a sanitarium for many years." His uncle says in calm, "after her father died, her big brother and sister didn't come back from abroad. She also couldn't count on the third brother."

"Which sanitarium is she in?"

"You care about this." His uncle chuckles, "you were protracted when I asked you to come back, but now you're caring about an irrelevant people."

Ye Lin becomes silent. Of course he doesn't care about people who is irrelevant.

Why should he care if he doesn't even care about the relevants.

"Your little friend, did he go home?" Suddenly his uncle changes the subject.

Ye Lin pauses, is that Yu Yue who mentioned by his uncle just now?

Ye Lin feels guilty and has to listen to him tamely.

"That Yu Yue, he's tough, for that he can take the courses of three semesters in advance. He's better than you. You need to promote some capable helpers. On the second day of the New Year, Ye Lin stays at home alone for the whole day.

As for the third day, he goes to visit his superior.

And on the fourth day, the second generations in the capital hold a formal party together. Both Ye Lin and his wife participate in. It is rare for them to be together. But in the evening, his wife goes back to her own home again.

Ye Lin is bored at home, surfing the Internet, and after pressing F5 four times on the same page, he finally reaches his limit. Then, he makes a call to ask if there's any flight ticket to H city left.

He's going to look for Yu Yue.

At noon on the fifth day, Yu Yue's lunch is interrupted by a phone call.

Yu Yue takes a glance on the phone—it's Ye Lin. What's wrong with him. He murmurs in his mind, and runs into the bedroom to answer the phone.

"Are you home?"

"Yes, why ask?"

"I'm at the airport. Pick me up. Hurry"

"Ah?" Yu Yue is astonished for a moment.

"I'm at the Hongshan Airport. Come to pick me up."

"What are you saying? What?" Yu Yue doubts that he has misheard: "are you kidding with me?"

"I just got off the plane. Haven't left the airport yet. Come to pick me up, I'll wait."

"Who are you kidding?"

"Really, I won't lie to you. Hurry up."

Forty minutes later, Yu Yue steps out of the taxi. Before he enters the airport, he see a man in the hall through the glass. That person wears a black coat, putting his hands in the pockets, smiling ostentatiously since he has seen Yu Yue already.

Yu Yue looks up and down on him, then asks: "That's how you get here? No luggage?

"I was too rushed to pack up. I'll buy new if I need anything."

"You black sheep."

"Hey, I just spend what is mine, not like your rich second-generation friend." Ye Lin has knew that he went out with Ding Yichao on summer vacation. He even interrogated Yu Yue once for this matter.

"Grey income, how dare you mention that." Yu Yue rolls his eyes impolitely.

"Why not? I earn every penny by myself, none is from my parents' pocket. Isn't that better than you?"

Yu Yue immediately looks displeased: "be straightforward if you want me to be disgusted. Don't be vague." Then he turns around to go.

Ye Lin understands his meaning and waves a hand: "Well, I didn't mean that, don't be melodramatic. I was saying that your parents gave you money as living expenses, all right? You never took my money, how could I talk about this."

Yu Yue still ignores him. He goes out and takes a taxi.

Ye Lin follows him into the car quickly.

The driver asks where to go, and Yu Yue tells him a hotel's name.

Ye Lin pushes him: "it's New Year, don't you invite me to your home?"

"You idiot!" Yu Yue shouts back angrily, "you beat me to the hospital around this time last year, you think that my parents don't remember who you are? They won't like you even if you go to apologize with three kowtows. Are you going to make troubles?"

Ye Lin smiles lamely: "so will you stay with me in the hotel?"

"Fuck you. What am I gonna tell my family if I don't go home?"

Ye Lin has nothing to say. Realizing that Yu Yue is angry, he shuts up.

In the hotel, Yu Yue wants to leave after taking a room at the front desk. But Ye Lin holds him on.

"What? I need go home." Yu Yue wants to throw him off.

"Anything urgent? What is it?"

"…Nothing. Can't I go home?"

"I come all the way here, can you just stay with me for a while?" Ye Lin still grabs him tightly. Sounds like there's no way to let him go.

Yu Yue frowns, then has to go upstairs with him. He sits on the bed angrily after getting into the door, watching Ye Lin locks the door.

Yu Yue can not escape, so he shouts at Ye Lin: "You are nothing but a rascal! A rapist! Chase me aboveboard if you have the ability! Make me fall in love with you, and follow you unswervingly if you can!"

"Ha! Love will comes in time, comes with the sexual life." Ye Lin's hands start moving improperly while he's saying that.

"Get the fuck off! You shameless asshole!" Yu Yue would like to kick him directly under the crotch. But Ye Lin holds him so tight that he can not lift his leg.

"What relations do we have? I don't need to behave myself!" Ye Lin turns around, presses Yu Yue on the bed in a hard, "and it's easy for me to handle you."

Anyhow, Ye Lin is a person who had been trained by the Homeland Security. His skill in catch and grapple is more than sufficient for Yu Yue. Yu Yue is helpless then, he asks Ye Lin with eyes rolling up: "do you have the condom?"

Half a day passed. Ye Lin let Yu Yue leave reluctantly after doing for one time, since Yu Yue refused him to ejaculate inside. He feels regret about the poor preparation, and is thinking about where to buy the condoms.

As expected, Ye Lin calls him the next morning and asks Yu Yue to show him around.

Yu Yue couldn't tell his parents it's the man who had imprisoned him illegally and sexually assaulted him last year. So he tells them that he has a reunion to go.

After thinking for a moment, Yu Yue feels that there is nothing to visit. The small city has no historical landscape nor prosperous scene compared with Beijing. The only advantage is that the environment and traffic are better.

"Where do you want to go?" Yu Yue asks Ye Lin.

"It's your hometown, I have no idea." Ye Lin looks around, "anywhere is fine, just walk around with me."

Yu Yue considers for a second, then takes him to a main road running north to south. It's a busy area along the road.

The city is so small that they have finished the core area within half an hour, and walked to a residential area on the edge.

Yu Yue's finger points ahead: "that's my high school."

Ye Lin overlooks that place in high spirits: "let's go over there?"

Yu Yue suddenly becomes hesitant.

Ye Lin saw it and then he wonders: "What's the matter?"

Yu Yue looks like gloomy: "Cheng Xiaocheng's home is also there."

Now Ye Lin is stunned. He looks ahead and turns back to Yu Yue: "Have you seen him?"

Yu Yue shakes his head: "I haven't. But I heard from my parents that he came back last fall. His parents and my parents know each other. My parents only heard about that he had an accident, but have never seen him."

Ye Lin is like to ponder for a while to make up his mind: "take me to see him."

"I'm not going." Yu Yue rebuffs his request.

"Take me to his door, you don't need to go in. Is it OK?" Ye Lin tries to discuss with him.

"You're not going either." Yu Yue turns around and wants to leave: "if I were him, the last person I would want to see right now is you."

"Why didn't you save him in the first place? Since you are so concerned about him." Yu Yue asks in reply.

Ye Lin sighs: "I thought he would be fine with Yu Siyang. It was my fault. In that situation, Yu Siyang wouldn't wade in the muddy water for him. He's too smart."

"Huh," Yu Yue sneers, "cruel and unscrupulous."

Ye Lin walks in silence for a distance. Suddenly, he opens his mouth: "that is because he can't become one of us."

"What's so great about you guys?" Yu Yue scolds viciously, "Aren't the other people human beings?"

"This is the rule of the game. I admit that we are just born well, and there's nothing else better than others. But within the circle, we do stand a bit taller than others. A person won't be really looked up if he's not inside." Ye Lin looks down to the ground: "Yu Yue, do you want to get in the circle?"

"How? I'm just the descendant of common people, and should stay in lower class. You're way out of my league." Yu Yue is still acerbic.

"Yu Yue, I'm serious. Let me be frank with you. My uncle recognized your value. So far, you are the first person who get his recognition. He said I could treat you as my family." Ye Lin looks up at Yu Yue, "I said I like you, and I know you don't believe it—you distain to believe it. Actually I don't really know it myself. But, to some degree it not only because I like you. What I do know is that you are well suited for our circle. So I say that you're the only one who can build a long-term stable relationship with me."
