My Sweet Dr. Xu

In the afternoon, Xu Zhiyin bought some things and went home to see her mother.

Her mother had fallen ill because of her divorce and this made her feel bad.

"Young Missy is back." When she went in, the servant informed everyone in the family.

Xu Zhiyin asked, "Is my mother home yet?"

"Madam just came home from the hospital." The servant was really happy at the sight of Xu Zhiyin.

"Zhiyin is home." When Xu Zhiyin came to the living hall, she heard Madam Ji's voice. She didn't expect Ji Liunian's mother to be here to visit her mother.

One was her former mother-in-law and one was her mother. Both of them sat in the living hall and their house was lively.

Every time Ji Liunian's parents came to visit, Xu Zhiyin's parents would welcome them passionately.

"Father, Mother." Xu Zhiyin overcautiously greeted her former parents-in-law. She shouldn't be addressing them like this anymore but she couldn't find other ways of addressing them just yet.

Madam Xu had a straight face and did not forgive Xu Zhiyin just because she came home, "Where have you been these days? Why didn't you come home?"

"I have to work, that's why I couldn't come home. I heard you're sick, so, I came to see you. How are you, Mother?" Xu Zhiyin looked at her mother.

With the presence of Mr. Ji and Madam Ji, Madam Xu could not be really angry with Xu Zhiyin. 

Madam Xu said, "If you care about my health, then, don't do things to provoke me."

She had heard from Madam Ji, Xu Zhiyin had declined Mr. Ji and Madam Ji's suggestion to remarry. Madam Xu felt like smacking her.

After Madam Xu nagged Xu Zhiyin, Madam Ji moderated the atmosphere to make it less tense. "Should we call Liunian over so we can have dinner together?"

"That won't be necessary." Xu Zhiyin quickly interrupted Madam Ji to prevent Ji Liunian from coming. If he were to come, she would be blamed again. "He must be busy and may not have time to come. Furthermore, we have divorced."

"We didn't agree to your divorce." Madam Ji said, "Zhiyin, I know you don't want to remarry because of Chuxia. Since young, Liunian had always been close to Chuxia and it's only normal for him to have feelings for her. However, I wish you can embrace him. You're a good girl and you can understand these, right?"

"Mother…" Xu Zhiyin wanted to say this was not something she could decide.

Even if she wanted to embrace Ji Liunian, would he accept?

Remarrying was something she didn't have to think further.

Madam Ji didn't give her an opportunity to speak, "As long as you don't fuss with Liunian and don't take Chuxia's matter to heart, let us handle other matters. You like Liunian, right? Tell me, do you like Liunian? He's good-tempered, obedient, and capable… If he had any weakness, it would be his liking for Chuxia. However, if we don't agree, he won't be with Chuxia."

In the eyes of Madam Ji, Chuxia was a seductive woman. After being toyed by men, she returned to seduce Ji Liunian.

Hence, they would definitely not allow a woman who was not pure and clean into their family.

Upon hearing Madam Ji's words, she didn't know what to say.

She knew Madam Ji was genuine and wished to see her remarry Ji Liunian.

Madam Ji took out her phone. "I'll call Liunian now."

Without giving Xu Zhiyin a chance to stop her, the call went through.

In the evening, Xu Zhiyin stood on the balcony on the second floor. She saw his car at the door. He got down and under the evening sun, his shadow was stretched. He raised his head and met Xu Zhiyin's gaze.

Xu Zhiyin moved her vision guiltily away from him.

She knew very well that he was here merely to make his parents happy with no other intentions.

"Young Missy, dinner is served." The servant came to call her. Xu Zhiyin went down and saw Ji Liunian in the living room. He was sitting next to Madam Ji and chatting with the elderly.

He raised his head to look at her but didn't say anything.

Madam Ji demanded, "Why didn't you say hi to your own wife?'

Ji Liunian merely stared at Xu Zhiyin.

She thought Ji Liunian must be blaming her again in his heart. Xu Zhiyin felt uneasy while she announced, "I'll go to the kitchen to help."

She left the living hall quickly, trying to avoid Ji Liunian's gaze.

Very quickly, everyone sat down at the dining table. Both hers and Ji Liunian's seat had been arranged to be next to one another.

Xu Zhiyin sat beside Ji Liunian. She had never felt so nervous and reserved before.

Even if she did not harbor any thoughts for this man, he would still misunderstand her.

She was afraid he would push all the blame on her again like last night.

She held her chopsticks and carefully listened to the elderly's chat. Ji Liunian took the initiative to place some food into her bowl, pretending to be thoughtful in front of the elderly, "Why, are you still angry with what I said yesterday?"

"What did you say yesterday to make Zhiyin unhappy?" Madam Ji stood on Xu Zhiyin's side firmly.

Ji Liunian smiled. "I said a few words. Am I not apologizing now?"

He was as gentle as the spring breeze.

Xu Zhiyin didn't understand too. Why did he need to put up an act?

He only needed to answer, "I won't remarry her." That will solve the whole problem!

Why did he want to do this?

Madam Ji said, "Zhiyin, sometimes Liunian is like a child. Please don't be angry with him."

"Yes, please don't be angry," Ji Liunian continued taking food for Xu Zhiyin.

Xu Zhiyin stared at him. His smiling face was so close to her and he was so gentle. It was as if, they had returned to the time before their divorce…

However, was it really like that?

Ji Liunian looked at Xu Zhiyin and with a tone as if discussing with her, he said, "Mother says we should remarry. I think it's a wonderful idea. What about you?"

"…" Xu Zhiyin's heart skipped a beat. Ji Liunian's question was like asking for her view.

Did he really want to remarry?

As she couldn't guess Ji Liunian's thoughts, Xu Zhiyin lowered her head and murmured, "Let me think about it."

Ji Liunian took it as she was declining. He told Madam Ji, "Mother, you see, I've said Zhiyin may not be willing to remarry. Why do you still want to force us?"

"Zhiyin, are you really unwilling to remarry?" Madam Ji looked at her, feeling puzzled. She had experienced love and could see that Xu Zhiyin loved Ji Liunian and thought she would agree to the suggestion.

"Zhiyin, you…" Madam Xu looked at Xu Zhiyin anxiously, "Your mother-in-law has good intentions. Can you not be insensible?"

"Everyone knows about our divorce. It's meaningless if we remarry now." Xu Zhiyin darted a glance at Ji Liunian and knew what he said and did couldn't be treated as real.

Of course, she didn't wish to treat it as real too.

She would never think of remarrying again.
