24 - Fear and Compliments

Rhynes praises the magic that she has never experienced.

In the face of overwhelming power, emotions like fascination and curiosity outweigh the fear in Rhynes, she wants to see more, she wants to have her idea of common sense overturned, and she wants to rise to a higher level.

Infinite ideas, application and practice of this power, all unbound by the limits of this world, Rhynes was trying to learn such techniques from Lulurun as they fought.

“If this is how it is, then let’s do this!!” Rhynes yelled.

She held out her sword, the lightning starts to charge around Rhynes.

“HAH…!”

As if to represent her fighting spirit, she fires electric shocks into her surroundings, it blows away the obscuring fog at once.

“You mixed the electricity with your battle shout?!” Lulurun cried. “Even though I haven’t told you, the application is perfect, and I’m losing confidence in myself…”

Full of interest in Rhynes’s incredible skill, Lulurun decides to do a head-to-head battle with Rhynes while she’s strengthened with Lazarion.

“Haaaaaa!!!” Rhynes screamed.

“Rafaon!” Lulurun yelled.

Lulurun wields the wind like a blade, she parries Rhynes’ sword with it, the land shakes and rumbles with each clash, this special training was beyond common sense.

Each time Rhynes struck a blow, the Rafaon wind blades collapsed and dissipate.

“Your power is a match, amazing, Rhynes!!” Lulurun yelled.

Though Lulurun acknowledges Rhynes’ power, she can’t stop grinning and that annoys Rhynes.

“Agh!!” Rhynes yelled. “Damn it!!!!!”

The annoyance accelerates her sword swinging speed, but it does not reach Lulurun, she judges her movements precisely.

After a few minutes of back-and-forth, Rhynes’ momentum gradually slowed down and her breathing became rough.

“Haa, haa, haa…” she panted.

“Because you continued to exert power several times more than usual, your stamina will drain at the same rate,” Lulurun said.

“Tell me that sort of thing… sooner…” Rhynes wheezed, breathless and glared at Lulurun. “Can you strengthen my stamina, too?” Rhynes asked.

“This isn’t that sort of convenient magic!” Lulurun yelled.

Although the momentum has fallen, Rhynes continues the attack. She puts her will into every blow.

“HAAAH….!”

Gin…!

Lulurun flies from a giant blow from Rhynes, Rhynes also jumps back and disengages.

After the clashes stopped and they both had some breathing room, Rhynes seemed to be at the limit of her stamina.

“I don’t feel, haah, like winning, at all,” Rhynes said.

“Ho-ho-ho, you still haven’t surpassed me yet,” Lulurun said.

While she was putting on the “Old Master” bit, Lulurun was surprised by Rhynes, instantly mastering Lazarion and showing the same close-quarters-combat proficiency as Lulurun, no, even more so than her.

Lulurun’s heart was dancing to a feeling that she had never felt in the world she was in before, that of a presence that might reach her level, too.

“Someday… I don’t know when, but I’ll match your power, Keisuke,” Rhynes said.

“I’m looking forward to that,” Lulurun said.

And with that said, Rhynes’ Lazarion ends, she’s out of mana.

“Ah.”

At that moment, Rhynes’ body lost strength at once, she was completely unable to move due to the reaction of using Lazarion. Lulurun gently catches Rhynes as she can do nothing but collapse on the spot.

“Keisuke…” Rhynes said.

“It’s a reaction to using Lazarion, you’ll be able to move in a while,” Lulurun said.

“I see…”

The delicate arm that wraps herself is certainly that of a woman’s, but Rhynes felt that powerful arm was more reassuring than anything else.

“……Also,” Rhynes whispered.

“Hmm?” Lulurun replied.

Lulurun turns to look at Rhynes but she’s looking away.

“Ah…” Rhynes said.

“What’s wrong?” Lulurun asked.

“It’s nothing…” Rhynes said.

“It’s alright, tell me,” Lulurun said.

“I’ve said some terrible things to you, it’s not… fair to you,” Rhynes said, blushing red as she struggles to get the words out.

“I don’t think you’ve said anything terrible to me,” Lulurun said.

Still facing down, Rhynes whispered, “… Will you do this special training with me again?”

“………”

After making a slightly serious look, Lulurun can’t stop herself from laughing at Rhynes’ overly serious request.

“Don’t laugh! Stop laughing at me, alright…?” Rhynes said.

Embarrassed, Rhynes shrank and looked teary-eyed. Lulurun continued laughing and patted the head of the strongest knight as she struggled to hold back tears.

“Of course, we’re going to train again, aren’t we?” Lulurun said, looking right at Rhynes’ eyes.

“Really?”

“I’m your master, Rhynes master, I’m not a demonic teacher who doesn’t train with their own disciples.”

“…… I appreciate it,” Rhynes said.

She was smiling with delight, even though she had just cussed out Lulurun and turned away from her.

Lulurun puts the immobile Rhynes on her back.

“Heave-ho.”

“Woah, woah, Keisuke, what’re you doing?!” Rhynes yelled.

“Piggyback ride,” Lulurun said.

“Don’t do that, come on, I’m heavy,” Rhynes said.

“It’s okay, I can carry you without any effort nor pain, no joke!” Lulurun said.

“…”

And with that said, Rhynes silently put her face against Lulurun’s back.
