Lucky Star

Chapter 14 - PRETTY BUSY....

All the VIP doctors and patients have their own allotted parking space in the VIP parking area to avoid inconvenience.

"When I came, James came over before I came to the hospital, Liam should be there as well." De Xi replied calmly.

"Did you visit Selena?" De Xi asked in a worried tone after a brief moment of silence.

"Her condition is the same, no improvement," George said as he sighed in helplessness.

"It is fine as long as her condition does not deteriorate, don't worry I and Frank are working on it, I believe if our current research is a success then she will wake up soon." De Xi said in a confident and ȧssuring tone.

George nodded in understanding and smiled softly, yet in a downtrodden manner, he sighed in helplessness and frustration.

"If not for you, I don't know what I would have done. What I owe to you is something I won't be able to pay back in this lifetime. You gave Liam and James motherly love and took care of them just like your own sons..." George said in a grateful tone.

"If you know you can't pay it back, then don't think about it, just accept it. Liam and James are my sons, I'm not doing you any favor looking after them." De Xi said as she scoffed lightly.

"Okay, my lady. I will abide by your wishes." George said as he did a bow, like the former times in Europe.

De Xi chuckled lightly and shook her head in helplessness and amusement. They then exited the elevator and walked towards their cars.

"You are following me." De Xi said in a declarative tone, as she opened the car door to get inside.

"I will shortly follow, I have something to pick." George agreed, as he and De Xi got inside their cars respectively and sped off from the basement.

De Xi reached the De Mansion a little over quarter-past-seven. She parked her car in the guest parking where it was previously and entered the mansion calmly at a steady, unhurried pace.

A warm smile bloomed on her face when she saw James still practicing the notes but was alone in the living room.

"You added a note there." De Xi interrupted lightly when she noticed the note he missed in between.

"I did it deliberately Mom if I follow just these notes the tune seems off, no matter how much I practice this part still gets messed up," James said as he sighed frustratedly.

"But they do not allow you to make any changes to the original pieces." De Xi reminded him sternly.

"Mom, except you no one would be able to notice it," James said sulkily.

"The judges are all famous Maestro's from around the world, they are not beginners." De Xi reminded him calmly, but there was a slight warning in her tone.

"Then what should I do? The music feels off with just these notes." James complained in helplessness.

"Come here, let me guide you through the flow once again. Last time you were daydreaming without a doubt." De Xi asked him to join her on the sofa, as she softly glared at him.

James did so happily, as he quickly hurried towards the sofa and settled beside her with the score sheet in his hand.

"I was not, you were just very quick and I failed to grasp." James quickly said he part and cheekily grinned at De Xi who smacked him lightly on his shoulder.

De Xi spent the next fifteen minutes guiding James through all the ups and downs of the piano sonata, following through the rhythm.

"Did you grasp it now or do you want me to go through once again?" De Xi asked patiently, as she smiled towards James.

"No, I got it, I'll start practicing this way if I still don't get it... Mom, will you please consider changing the piece?" James asked, making puppy eyes and pleading cutely.

"Start practicing. I'll make sure you get it right." De Xi said with a charming smile that did not reach her stern eyes.

"Are Natalia and Liam still upstairs?" De Xi asked as she looked towards the staircase briefly, before looking at James.

"It is just Natalia upstairs. Liam, Nova, and Sam left over an hour ago." James answered casually.

"Why?" De Xi asked with a small frown.

"They said something about having individual ȧssignments to be done by themselves, and were heading back early," James said while trying to recollect the exact words said by the trio in question.

"Hmmm... Get started, I'll go and check up on Natalia." De Xi said as she gently patted James's head before standing up and heading upstairs to the third level.

The third level of the mansion consisted of De Xi's study, Natalia a.k.a Little Princess's study, the Library, and the gazebo.

De Xi reached the third floor and enters Natalia's study to find her sitting on the floor busy jotting down something.

A large array of papers printed in different languages, consisting of a variety of data was spread around her, surrounding her from all directions.

"Did I interrupt something important?" De Xi asked in amusement, as she eyed all the paper around Natalia.

"Huh?" Natalia who just snapped out of her train of thoughts looked at De Xi in confusion.

"You seem pretty busy, carry on, I won't disturb you." De Xi said with a smile and was about to leave the study when Natalia called out from behind.

"No Mummy, I was planning to take a break anyways. Did you want me for something?" Natalia asked as she placed down her pen and looked towards her mother with a small warm smile.

"Actually I wanted to talk to you about something." De Xi said with a little uncertainty.

"We can," Natalia said in a lighthearted manner as she stood up and carefully crossed the border of papers before she reached De Xi.
