Lucky Star

Chapter 12 - HOOLIGAN....

"I left in between, I'll message James to meet up after I'm done." De Xi mumbled

After quickly messaging James, asking him if he was free to have dinner, she went back to reading the charts of her patients, and suddenly there was a knock on her door.

"Come in" De Xi said calmly and loud enough for the person out of the door to hear it.

The door opened and two more residents of hers entered along with Mark, who was the Chief Resident.

De Xi looked at them silently, expecting them to tell her the reason for their arrival.

All four of her residents looked at her, slightly scared and worried about their next ȧssignments, as they knew their professor was not in the best mood thanks to someone.

"You entered the cabin just to look at me?" De Xi asked in a calm tone there was a hint of amusement to it, masked perfectly in her stern tone.

"N-No Professor, we are here for our tasks." the only young female resident among the group of four answered after summoning up some courage.

"Are all your given tasks completed?" De Xi asked lightly as she continued going through the charts displayed on the screen of her desktop.

All the residents were quiet as they had a lot to deal with already, though they did not come today to take even more tasks.

Yet they still had to because they knew that they were handed over the tasks according to their potential, and if they did it without slacking off, they can complete it in time.

"Continue with the ones you have at hand, complete it and come to me to get new ones." De Xi said as she lifted her head and looked towards them briefly.

"If you are delayed then you know what happens, then don't come complaining about lack of sleep." De Xi said calmly and then waved them in the sign of dismissing them.

All the residents looked at De Xi for a complete moment as they were not sure if she was serious or joking, though the possibility of the latter was nearly zero.

"Clara, inform me when the VIP patient who was admitted in just a few hours ago wakes up, Mark will fill you up further. Also, line her up for a CT." De Xi said calmly and did not elaborate it further.

De Xi continued to view the charts until there was a knock on the door once again, she looked at her watch and sighed softly when she realized how long has passed since she arrived.

She then quickly permitted the one outside the door to enter and immediately Clara entered the cabin.

"Professor, Mrs. Stevenson is awake, though she is still complaining about having pain, though its severity reduced from before." Clara quickly informed the condition about the patient.

"Are the CT reports out?" De Xi asked calmly, without looking at the resident who entered the cabin.

"They should be Professor," Clara answered as she checked the time in her watch.

"Go ahead, get it out. I will follow closely." De Xi said as she excused Clara out and quickly finished the chart she was reading previously.

Clara nodded in understanding and went out of the cabin after closing the door behind her, to carry out the task at hand.

After De Xi finished the chart she was reviewing, she stood up from her seat, wore her white coat which she hanged up earlier on the stand, and went out of her cabin.

She walked towards the elevator and pressed the upstairs buŧŧon. The elevator arrived quickly and opened to reveal a blonde doctor with ocean blue eyes who resembled James's back in the mansion.

"Eva, when did you come in?" the young doctor asked in a surprised tone.

"When you entered the TA surgery, a VIP patient came in, so they called me in. Did the surgery end well?" De Xi explained calmly, but she was not indifferent.

"Yes, when I did the surgery myself, what could go wrong?" he grinned and winked towards De Xi, which earned the former a scoff from the latter.

"George, stop fooling around like this, behave like a surgeon, not a hooligan." De Xi warned him seriously, yet there was a hint of humor in it.

"Ever so serious, it is fine to fool around with friends, I guess. Well, what is the case with VIP patient, which came in?" George asked as he turned serious.

"Cluster headache and Mark diagnosed it for a migraine." De Xi sighed in helplessness.

She could neither get angry at her Chief Resident nor could she let it go.

Many failed to diagnose it at first, but she did not want her residents to be a part of many she wanted them to be in a part of the few.

"You can't blame him though, at first it seems like a migraine. Well, what treatment plan are you going to follow?" George asked as he looked at De Xi casually.

"I am yet to see the CT but seeing from the symptoms I don't think we would need surgery, some oxygen therapy and medications should be enough." De Xi continued in her calm tone.

"It is better, surgery is troublesome," George said as he sighed helplessly, as he knew as a surgeon it was a path he chose and should not complain like this, but he cannot help it because it utterly exhausted him.

"You already passed the period to complain and whɨnė, even my residents are better than you." De Xi retorted coldly as she exited the elevator.

"Of course, they would be better than me and others," George started with a smirk.

"After all, being a resident under you is a feat in itself, isn't it? Miss Demoness?" George completed with an amused laugh.
