Love's Got a Hold of My Heart

Chapter 4:CHAPTER 4: MINI VERSION

SHANE

It was my schedule to duty on school premises because it is Friday last day of the week. My daughter will come by after her classes. I asked the nurse on duty to call me on my cell if my daughter arrived.

I left the clinic and walked towards the gym. I wanted to look the new members' basketball team for kids.

It has been weeks since I heard that they got a new member that plays very well. I got intrigue about that kid.

"Shane, man, finally you are here." We shook each other's hand. "I waited for you to come and see the best player I have this year and you will never going to believe it. He plays like a little pro but with more practices and trainings he will be the next best in our school." He said proudly.

"Really!" I said with interesting. "Now, I am totally intrigue, tell me who that little player of yours?" I asked.

"The one that wearing number 9 jersey." He said pointed the kid and I was once number 9 before. "He is just 7 years old and his height fits to be here."

My eyes followed where he pointed. The number 9 was facing his back on me so I cannot see his face but the look of his back I know what he mean. His height is taller than seven years old.

"Just wait here and watch how he plays. We were been practicing for weeks now and I can see his potentials for being the next you, Shane." He said. "If I did not know you well I might think he is your mini you but luckily I know you that you only have one child and that is a daughter." He added but I was puzzled with his words.

He walked towards the players and talk to them before starting the game. I was seating one of the chairs ready to watch when my phone rings. I heard the whistled by the assistant coach for them to begin. I answered the phone and the nurse told me that my daughter was there.

I wanted to watch their new players' plays and I cannot let this one gone to nothing. I still have the love of this sport in me. I love basketball since I was a kid played the best of the best until junior high school. I got injured that stop me in my senior year.

I accepted my fate and being a doctor was my second but it was my destiny that I became who I am now. I never regret any of the things happened to me I always think I was destined to be and I accepted it.

"Daddy." I saw my little princess running towards me and the nurse smiled as I see her not far waved goodbye. I asked her to send my daughter to me.

She jumped on me and is now sitting on my lap. "Hello, princess how was your day?" I asked kissing her cheeks.

"I got a perfect score for my book exercises, Daddy." She showed me her wrist and I saw stamp sign Excellent.

"Oh baby, good job! I love you my little princess." I said happily. "Okay, now let's watch the game. Are you hungry?"

'No, daddy, I already ate."

I kissed her forehead then concentrate the game. Coach Mark was right the number 9 is his best player and he needs more proper trainings.

The way the kid shoots the ball I see myself at that age of his or he will be more than I could imagine. As the kid turned his face, I felt chill to the bone.

He looks similar to me it seems my mini version.
