Richard could feel Erin's return. He hesitated but decided to wait for her in the throne room. There were some reports that he had to check, preparing for the war that would come. Time slowly passed as he waited for his girl to come, but what he didn't expect was for a dark elf to come first. He knew her, one of the spies working for him.

The interesting point was that he could feel her connection to Erin. After all, it was part of Erin's blood that was now running in Vaeri's veins. He looked at the woman with interest, as she bowed before him.

"My Lord." There was tension in her movements, he could see that the report was important. His curiosity piqued, while his gaze was on her, unwavering. He could feel her heartbeat increasing and see the sweat that started to trickle down her forehead.

"What is it?" Though he was late to call her, he felt her tension reduced to some extent. She took a deep breath to steady herself. Though he created the tension by simply watching her, for the dark elf it would be an unbearable experience.

"There were movements from the werewolves, my Lord," Vaeri said, he could feel the slight trembling in her voice. That made him only more interested in the information she was about to share.

"The bear chief, Roth met with the elders of the werewolves. I am not sure what they discussed since we were discovered and had to run for our lives." The dark elf bowed, as her head nearly touching the floor. Her hands were trembling, so he could guess what she had experienced.

"Is that all?" Richard asked though he was thinking about Erin again. 'Why is she not here yet?' Watching her new follower, he couldn't help thinking about her.

"The other spies that were with me are all dead, my Lord. I am the only survivor." Vaeri answered, as her fists clenched. He was sure that if she lifted her face now, there would be tears in her eyes.

"Oh, interesting. And how did you manage to escape from a Demon Lord?" That was the thing he wanted to know. It was expected for all of them to die, but there was a survivor.

"He didn't personally attack us, my Lord. He only used his aura to lure us out of the shadows, afterward he left the werewolves to go after us." She replied, her voice on the verge of choking. Richard tilted his head, his eyes flashed.

"So, you managed to escape from their pursuit?" He leaned his chin on his hand, as he wanted to know how exactly she survived.

"I was on the verge of death myself, but the princess saved me, my Lord." Her answer took him a bit off-guard, but that was expected. That way, he could explain the connection between Erin and her.

"Where is the princess?" He finally asked, unable to neglect that point anymore. He could feel Erin in her room, though the question still escaped his lips.

"Umm, I think she is in her room, resting?" Vaeri answered, though her answer was more like a question. He sighed. Of course, she wouldn't know where she was when they had separated already. It was a stupid question in the first place.

"Alright, I can see your connection with the princess. As her follower, from now on, you are free from your duties as a spy. Go find her. She is your master now. Don't expect me to order you anymore." That was a compromise made only for the people that followed Erin. He let them on their own. He wanted to give Erin some power and forces to command in the future, too. It would be good if she started with her blood slaves first.

The dark elf bowed and left the room. As silence descended once again. Richard became lost in his thoughts. If what Vaeri reported was true, then there might be some surprises in the war. It would be better if he was prepared for them. He waved his hand and a man fully dressed in black emerged from the shadows, kneeling in front of him.

Richard started to write on parchment. After a while, he finished writing and moved it to the side. Taking another one, he scribbled on it again. After a few minutes, he was ready.

"Go and bring those to the tiger tribe and the lion tribe. I want to see if they will return the favors I gave them in the past." He commanded, pointing at the parchments that he just wrote. The man nodded and took them. Turning around, his body merged with the shadows once again.

'Though, I doubt they will help me. Those selfish bastards would most likely wait from the side and take advantage of the war, but with those letters, they might refrain from attacking me after that war.'

His letters weren't in vain, after all, the forces in the forest were like hungry predators, waiting for any chance that they could have to devour the others. No, he only had to prepare better, as the war might be against more than just the humans and their allies.

'Should I go to Erin?' It was obvious already that she wouldn't come to find him, so he had no choice but to find her. But he still remembered their parting. She was angry back then, he was sure of that. Though, close to two months had already passed, she shouldn't be angry with him anymore, would she?

Thinking about that, he found himself already walking in the direction of her room. In just a few moments, he was in front of her door. Taking a deep breath, Richard knocked.

"Come in." He could hear her voice, though there were no emotions in it. Opening the door, he entered and looked at Erin. What he saw made him stop in his tracks. Though he could see that she just took a bath and her hair was still wet and she was wearing new clothes, the aura around her was different. She was calmly looking back at him, with no ripples in her eyes. He thought that her heartbeat accelerated when their gazes met, but focusing on it, it was normal. Was it his imagination?

"What do you want?" That question made him speechless. He only wanted to see her, of course, but why could he detect some coldness from her voice? Was he unwelcome?

"Um, I just wanted to see you." He replied, honestly. Only in front of her would he express himself like that, not hiding anything.

"Well, you've seen me. You can leave now. I want to take some rest."

Richard felt pain in his chest. Why was she so cold towards him?

"Are you still mad at me?"

His pleading eyes looked at her, almost begging her to let go of that cold treatment.

"Do you want me to kill the magician? Just say it and I will dispose of him in that instant."

That was the only thing he could think about. If she wanted, he wouldn't even hesitate this time. The only thing he wanted was for her to forgive him.

"No need, let him live. He is your blood slave now, after all."

Her reply was unexpected, though what worried him more was her indifference. He opened his mouth, trying to think of what to say next, but no words came out. Finally, he decided to just apologize.

"I-"

"Can you please let me rest? I am exhausted after the training in the forest."

Erin interrupted him. He could feel the irritation in her voice. That pained him even more. He clenched his fists, not willing to turn around. He looked straight in her eyes, hoping to change her mind. Erin's left hand slightly trembled, but she still focused her gaze back at him, the resolution written on her face. Richard finally sighed and left.

He walked through the corridors, without direction, lost in his thoughts. Why was she like that now? Why was she so cold? What happened to her in those two months?

'I forgot to tell her about the magic formation.'

He shook his head. She didn't give him a chance to talk at all. That only made him more panicked. He had to think of a way to make her forgive him, but no ideas came to his mind. What was he supposed to do?
