Last Man On Earth When There Is No Earth ?

Chapter 76 - Eleven: The Verta Clan Part one

Sector nineteen

"Blue!! Where are you?"

In the darkness filling Seven's newly obtained space craft, now resting inside the Verta clan's mothership, a gentle voice echoed.

"Blue~! It's safe now! You can come out~!"

Lilia walked through the ship calling for the little female Herara, who's been traveling with them alongside Logan.

It was dark, the only source of illumination were the small lamps above each door but they hardly offered anything that could be considered helpful. The reason behind that is the place the ship was left in. this port is usually reserved for captured crafts, to prevent any escape beyond this point it was built like a trap that completely shuts down the systems of the landing ship, the way to regain control was something Lilia had no way of knowing, and looking for it was just a waste of time.

"Sigh… I wonder where she's… nothing bad happened… right?"

Lilia thought she could call for the little cat-girl from the bridge, now that she learned that it wasn't possible she had to do the search herself, going through the rooms one after the other.

It didn't seem like their enemy bothered to loot them yet. Their belongings were still in place just like they were left, no sign of someone going through them.

Lilia had a moment of relief, it meant no one went looking for little Blue.

Logan told her he thought Blue to find somewhere to hide whenever they visited the mothership, even when they were still part of the previous crew. He always worried some perverts would try to get their filthy hands on her since she was an orphan.

Lilia knew looking for the little girl was too priority, even more than supporting Seven. She knew her husband cared a lot for her and would probably lose it if anything were to happen to her.

Lilia was worried herself, too. In the few days they spent together she had gotten really close to Blue. Blue would often come take a nap beside her, she read her some stories and they would sleep together sometimes.

At first Lilia felt conflicted. Blue didn't just resemble Iris, something in the way she acts was a lot like her late friend. Their hair had the same shade of blue, they both didn't talk much and most importantly they were both small and adorable. She didn't know how she should feel about her, but after seeing Blue's sparkle as she listened to the stories she read for her Lilia overcome those emotions pretty quickly.

She couldn't help herself, Blue was too cute to resist. Whenever she had her sit on her l.a.p Lilia would apologize several times in her heart to Seven who would probably do anything to be in her place.

'Come to think on it…' a thought she had many times before resurfaced in her head 'why is Blue always so afraid of Seven?'

…..

Lilia went through each room one after the other, but no matter how many times she called Blue wouldn't come out.

Only one room left, and it belonged to Seven. Lilia stood at the door, hesitating to step further. What was she worried about? That was a mystery to her.

'There is no way she would hide here… right?'

She wasn't in any of the previous rooms, the bridge was empty and there isn't anywhere else her voice wouldn't reach. The rooms aren't that soundproof and a Herara shouldn't have trouble hearing even through closed doors.

Standing there and staring at it was just a big waste of time. Lilia put her hand on the panel beside the door frame, but even though she did it several times already she couldn't help but forget that the doors wont open with the whole ship's systems shut down.

"All right…"

That wasn't enough to penetrate it, put it left some holes deep enough for her fingers to go in. Putting the gun aside Lilia waited for the holes to cool down a little then prepared to force the door open. She pulled it slowly to make sure it wouldn't break -the first one needs to be fixed though- doing this didn't require much strength so she had to be really careful.

"Blue!?" Lilia called for the little girl b.u.t.t got no response.

'Where did she go?' just then she heard some rustling. She couldn't see anything in the dark so she was started and reflexively pointed the blaster in her hands in the direction the sound came from.

Lilia was startled, that's one thing, but the two glowing dots just made things worse.

"… Blue?"

"… Lilia?"

A Sweet voice spoke from thee direction she pointed at, barley audible and slightly trembling, but Lilia recognized it immediately and breathed in relief, putting aside her weapon.

"Lilia!" The owner of the voice jumped out, burying her face in Lilia's ample bosom while holding back her tears.

"Blue, are alright? You aren't hurt are you?"

"Un, I'm… I'm fine"

Her body didn't stop shaking. She could see in the dark, but that didn't mean she wasn't afraid. Blue is still a child after all, getting left behind in such a situation, off course she would be afraid.

Lilia hugged her closer, patting her head and trying to calm her down.

"everything is going to be fine, I'm here now"

It took a few minutes but Blue finally seemed a bit calmer.

"um, Lilia, where is Logan?" the little cat-girl asked.

"Logan? Don't worry, he went to help Seven that's all" Lilia didn't want to bring up the fact that they are currently at war with the clan, but a little mistake she overlooked didn't go over Blue

"Um… so the fighting… didn't end yet…"

Lilia was covered in blood, from head to toes. She had just killed someone, bathed in their blood then went and hugged a terrified child. She was so worried about Blue that she completely forgot to clean herself or at the very least change her dress.

With how heightened the senses the Herara had simply washing off the blood wouldn't be enough to mask its scent.

"Don't worry" Lilia said, patting Blue on the head "I'm sure Seven will take care of it"

"un… Lilia…"

"What is it?"

"… you stink…"

That was one brutal strike Blue innocently performed on Lilia, freezing her in her place.

At the moment Seven was in the middle of an intense battle. Logan said he would go support him while she checked on Blue, but she felt she should go see how things are going herself.

But in that case, what would she do about Blue? She can't take her along, and she can't leave her behind. Then there is the matter with that perverted midget's blood, Lilia would prefer that Seven would never get to see her like this, especially after getting told she smelled so bad.

'If only I had my spear…' she wanted it back, all her problems would disappear if only she had her spear in hand, or at least that was what she wanted to believe.

As Lilia contemplated what to do next all lights turned on all of a sudden

"Wha-" it took them both by surprise. Blue jumped back into Lilia's arms while the golden haired girl covered her eyes -who got too used to the darkness

"Miss Lilia, do you hear me?"

"…Logan?"

"Logan!? Where?"

"Ah! Blue! Are you okay? You aren't hurt, right?"

"I'm fine, Lilia is here too"

"Great! Ah, wait just a moment"

The voice came from speakers in the hallway, They recognized that it belonged to their fur covered companion who went somewhere to get their were back and find something to use in helping Seven.

"There you are!" a small window appeared just outside Seven's room, Logan showed on it waving at them "glad to see you are safe, Blue"

"Logan" Lilia stood up and walked out of the room, holding Blue in her arms "were you the one who released the systems"

"Yea, sorry about that, the lock took sometime to break" Logan answered "I got what we talked about, but it will take a while before I can get it to captain"

"How is Seven doing?"

"At the moment he seems to have the upper hand, though he is acting a bit strange"

Images from Seven battle against Verta appeared in Lilia's mind, she was sure the situation was something that resembled it

"We don't know if it will go on for too long so it's best if you hurry back"

"What about Blue?" Lilia asked

"don't worry, I already have something planned" his eyes turned to the little cat-girl in Lilia's arm "Blue, this might go on for a while, I need you to go to the bridge.when miss Lilia leaves, place the whole ship under lockdown just like I thought you before,, can you do it?"

"Un!" Blue nodded her head.

"Anyways, it seems I got company" Logan looked behind him. the sound of something exploding could be heard, but his expression was way more relaxed than when they were in the arena "gotta bring this baby to captain, ya better hurry!" with that the communication was cut.

There was no time to waist. Lilia went to the room next to Seven's, her room in other words. Thanks to her husband having more money than he could spend her closet was filled with clothes he bought for her the other day. Choosing one randomly didn't prove to be a problem as all the ones lined before her were made especially for female Zesionien warriors, but when she began stripping down she noticed Blue sitting on the bed silently watching her.

It felt a little awkward to change in front of someone even if they are a child. Lilia decided to start a small talk to distract herself from that feeling by asking a question that bugged her for a while

"Blue, I thought you were scared of Seven…" she said as her blood stained dress fell to the floor. Fortunately her u.n.d.e.r.g.a.r.m.e.n.t didn't suffer from the disgusting event "I didn't expect you to hide in his room of all place"

Blue kept her eyes on Lilia, her expression not changing in the least. She stayed silent for a few seconds before she gave her answer "un, smells like Seven, others males won't approach the lair of a Male who is stronger"

Although she felt it was a bit weird, Lilia understood that the answer Blue gave had more to do with how Herara did things. But still, Lilia wished Blue would tell her why she feared Seven so much.

Lilia thought she was left traumatized after Seven chased her around Gram city back on Rooster, and because of that she always kept her distance from him. But Blue picked his room specifically as a hiding place, doesn't that mean she felt it being near him was the safest?

"Un, I'm not scared of Seven" Blue spoke as if she knew what Lilia was thinking about, but she appeared to hesitate saying anymore

"Is that so? …" Lilia was done changing. The new dress she chose was much like the one she just replaced, white with as light blue here and there.

Lilia crouched in front of the little cat-girl so their eyes would be on the same level, and with a heartwarming smile she held her little hands

"Blue, you don't have to tell me if you want, but I can't help you if you don't tell me"

Seeing Lilia smile at her like that Blue was filled with a sense of security, and that gave her enough courage. She was afraid Lilia wouldn't believe her, after all she never noticed even when she was so close to the human called Seven

"a ghost…" she said, her voice a little dry "Seven is chased by a ghost"
