Help! I'm In Love With A Liar

Chapter 30:'So, You Recognized Me?'

I was not in my thorough senses and this fellow was now going to make me dance, I wondered. I could never even dance, in my normal senses.

"You are going to be sorry, for asking me to dance with you. I can be really destructive," I shouted in his ears, amidst the booming music.

"I have the honor to hold the hand of the most beautiful girl in the whole party. Why would I be sorry?" He said in my ears.

As he came close to me, I noticed he was wearing a rather alluring mask. While it was covering most of his face, its antiquity was appealing.

"Thank you! It can't do justice to your beautiful face, but that's the best I could find," he said and held my other hand too.

I was perplexed at his words. Something was very familiar about him but all the alcohol and music was making me woozier now.

"Do we know each other?" I asked him.

"No, I don't think so. My name is Jackie. Do you know anybody by that name?" He asked.

"No," I pondered.

"Let's dance!" He exclaimed and swirled me, in full force.

"Aggghhhh, ease out dude!" I shouted.

"Ok, as you say," he chuckled.

He laid his hands at the back of my waist and tugged me closer to him. We began to sway lightly at the music and I placed my hands, on his shoulders. All the swaying was making me muzzier.

I was suddenly frantic of losing the balance and I hugged him tightly and closed my eyes. After a few seconds, I opened my teary eyes. I had realized what was so familiar about him. I moved a step away and looked at him, this time very carefully. My tears were dripping down my face and I again lambasted the alcohol for this.

"Happy birthday," he said, holding both my hands.

"It's almost over!" I snapped.

"Yeah," he replied, meekly.

"No point wishing me now," I blurted.

"You have recognized me?" He questioned me, amazed.

"Off course, you liar," I resented.

"I wanted you to miss me a bit and had planned to give you a surprise in the party," he said wiping my tears. "Come," he said and led me outside the hall.

"What is it?" I asked him curiously.

"I have a gift for you," he revealed.

"No, please I don't want any gifts," I pleaded and budged him to stop moving ahead.

"First you take a look at the gift. If you can resist not taking it, I promise I will take it back. Now please close your eyes," he said, thrilled.

I closed my eyes and he made me hold something heavy.

"Don't tilt it. Just keep it straight. You can now open your eyes," he exclaimed.

I opened my eyes and saw; I was holding the handle of a small basket. Inside the basket was a tiny puppy looking at me, wide eyed. He was the cutest thing, I had ever seen. He was wearing a collar around his neck on which was engraved, his name "Scooby". The moment I saw him, I fell in love with him. Wang knew, I always desired a dog and wanted to name him after the cartoon character, "Scooby do".

I shrieked in excitement and Scooby tilted his head in confusion.

"Hi Scooby," I said, kneading his neck, softly.

Scooby closed his eyes as if adoring his first massage, already.

I looked at Wang. He was smiling, looking at me.

"Thank you so much Wang. I love him," I said smiling back at him.

"And I love you," he yearned.

I looked into his eyes; they were asking me a million questions.

"I just need some time, to think about us. I hope you understand," I said, guilt-ridden.

"Sure, all my life is yours. Take as much time as you want," he said smiling at me again.
