Help! I'm In Love With A Liar

Chapter 29:'May I Have A Dance With You?'

"They sure have guts to do that," I commented, looking at my friends who were dancing happily with unknown guys.

"That's what we are here for," a friend replied.

"Yeah, but I can't even dance without stepping on my own foot. Forget about dancing with somebody else," I chuckled.

Then I perceived, she did not even listen to me and was gawking at a guy sitting on the neighboring couch. He promptly got up from his seat and ambled towards our table.

"Oh my God! Is he coming over to ask me?" I panicked.

"Not you silly! It's me," my friend chided.

He came forward and held out his hand to her. She speedily obliged and they both advanced towards the dancing area, hand in hand.

I heaved a sigh of relief. But, at this pace, all my friends will be taken and I'll be the only one sitting here in the corner, I wondered. I needed to at least look up and show my face, for some guy to approach me. So, I switched my place and put on a smile on my face, to appear more confident. I anticipated a sudden paroxysm, if somebody approached me for a dance.

He finally requested, after waiting for a few seconds, "May I have a dance with you?"

"Sorry, I don't like your shoes. I can actually see your reflection on them," I blurted. I had already babbled the words before even realizing it. The alcohol was to be condemned for it, I thought.

He was no longer holding out his hand towards me and was staring at me astounded.

"Did I actually say that?" I exclaimed and started sniggering on his face. All my friends too couldn't help, control their laughter.

He was exasperated and marched away without saying anything further.

What is wrong with me? I wondered and I switched back to my corner seat, not to be seen by anybody. I realized the liquor had hit me and I was not in decorous senses.

After ten minutes, I was sitting all alone, savoring a chocolate truffle and appreciating the music. Suddenly, I see a man approaching and I instantly ceased munching. He was garbed elegantly in a black tuxedo and something inside me imposed to check out his shoes. Well, his shoes added to his grace, I deduced.

His appearance and the alcohol were doing the magic. He offered a dance and I slowly placed my hand on his palm. He kissed my hand charmingly and ushered me to the dancing area.
