Game’s Dogma

Chapter 142: Dumbgirl

When Dark World proposed to subjugate Underworld, Sky Dominion, and Allurers, everyone simply brushed it aside.

The difference in strength between first-rate guilds was very tight. To subjugate three guilds at the same time would do themselves more harm than anything even if three or four guilds participated in it. Dark World was also currently in its weakened state because all its elite members had lost a level; just taking care of those second line guilds trying to overtake them was troublesome enough.

In the end, Dark World could only shove everything down their throats. Moonless Night had lost count of how many items he had thrown or shattered already. From coming up with a strategy to gathering the guilds and mobilising them, Dark World had been the ones who invested the most effort into getting the first kill of the bear king.

After the bear king incident concluded, Drako Yau and the rest of his allies had become enemies of Dark World.

Not that Drako Yau was bothered about it though. Or rather, he had too many things to care about already, and he didn’t have the time to care about politics between guilds. Just brainstorming how to survive and how to grow stronger had already used up all his brain juices each day.

Drako Yau was actually a bit sulky. When fighting the bear king, he had been trying to enter his other state the entire time but failed to do so. If he had entered the state which enhanced his five senses, the mission would have gone a lot smoother.

When he had time to spare, he would always practice how to spur his emotions. He could enter either state around once every fifty trials. The side effects, however, were as severe as always, especially the fire elemental buff which enhanced his body.

After the physical enhancement ended, his body would suffer from all the accumulated strain and damage. Not only did the fire elemental force fill him with power, it also invaded his flesh, tendons, and bones. Thankfully, he’d always practice next to the resurrection altar so he could run over and heal up whenever things felt off.

What he didn’t notice was that every time he was burnt and healed, his body also became more resilient from all the breaking and repairing.

Drako Yau left the city and continued onwards as he thought about various things. He was already in a wilderness far away from Yoda before he knew it. Now that he had finally completed the crazy class progression quests, it was now time to report back to Chris at the tiny hut.

He had great expectations for his class progression. It shouldn’t be too weak when Chris called it one of the three strongest classes.

It wasn’t possible to teleport over to Chris’ hut. The only way over was to pass through the sub-Level 20 levelling zones, then follow a curvy and inconspicuous trail somewhere on the way towards the Highlands of John.

After walking for a short while, Drako Yau heard a strange sound. It was strange because it sounded like someone was pounding on metal with bare fists. He could easily distinguish the sound; clash of metals produced a crisp clang, while clashing flesh against metal produced a relatively dull thud.

The sound wasn’t very loud, but it drew his attention nonetheless. He also noticed that his five senses had been gradually improving after his attempts at entering the ice-elemental state.

He passed through a forest and arrived at a Level 15 levelling zone, inhabited by what seemed to be skinny bald eagles. Naturally, the eagles would only patrol at a low altitude. Anyways, he was at the zone’s fringes, so not a lot of eagles were present.

At such a place, two people, one male and one female, were standing there. The girl… was pounding the man with punches. Drako Yau focused his eyes and was surprised to find out that he had seen the man before.

Yip Ku-sing!

Yip Ku-sing stood there with a nonchalant look while the girl waved her fists at his shiny armour. The girl… didn’t equip a single piece of equipment.

Drako Yau could tell from that alone that the girl’s attacks couldn’t hurt Yip Ku-sing at all apart from the minimum 1 damage. Even so, the girl continued attacking with a serious look without using any skill. She flailed her arms and punched Yip Ku-sing, who stood there as if he was some other-worldly god who was untroubled by what was going on.

Drako Yau couldn’t bear watching it any longer. The girl’s fists were all red and swollen already; she had probably turned her pain perception way up. He took out his iconic mask and swapped out his equipment, resuming his identity as Mask, then walked out from the forest.

‘Yip Ku-sing, isn’t that enough?’

The sudden voice startled both of them. Yip Ku-sing looked at Drako Yau, then signed and said, ‘So it’s you again, the one who lost to me.’

Drako Yau snickered then laughed. ‘When did I ever lose to you?’

Yip Ku-sing had a self-admiring look as he answered, ‘Once I make a move, you’ll face certain death… Nevermind, nevermind.’ He then turned on his heels and left.

However, the girl didn’t let him go and raced over to punch him again. Drako Yau stepped forwards and held her arm.

‘Enough.’

Having her hand grabbed suddenly, the girl was dazed momentarily before she targeted her attacks at Drako Yau instead. Her punches were felt no more than a tickle through the Skeleton King Armour.

Drako Yau laughed and asked, ‘Why’re you hitting me?’

The girl tilted her head, then replied seriously, ‘Because you stopped me.’

Pointing at her fists, he asked, ‘Painful?’

The girl was in a daze again as she looked at her fists. Cold sweat dripped from her forehead.

‘Yes…’

Just how obtuse is she…

Drako Yau brought the young girl over to a tree and cast Bandaging on her while explaining the game’s setting to her. The main reason was to let her know that hundreds of her punches weren't enough to kill Yip Ku-sing…

‘What’s your pain perception set to?’

The girl tilted her head and stared blankly at him. The word ‘confused’ was written all over her face, so Drako Yau taught her how to check her pain perception settings.

‘One hundred per cent. Mum told me that I have to give it my all at everything.’ She looked at Drako Yau with a serious look, who was quickly becoming speechless.

‘Why did you hit him?’

He wasn’t going to argue with a young girl who was fixated on ‘giving it her all’. The girl’s ID was also a ‘cool’ one: Dumbgirl.

‘Because he killed my friends.’ Dumbgirl answered seriously yet again.

‘Hm?’ Drako Yau was surprised. While Yip Ku-sing went a bit overboard with acting cool, he didn’t seem to be the kind of person to do such things.

Drako Yau listened to Dumbgirl’s narration of what happened for almost fifteen minutes. He laughed wryly when he finally realised what actually took place.

While Dumbgirl was indeed a dumb girl, she had unbelievable luck. She got a Level 5 epic weapon when farming in the wilderness and was spotted by other players. They ran over, surrounding her for her weapon. However, Yip Ku-sing, who was above Level 20, saw everything and killed all those players when it went too far.

Drako Yau was surprised that Yip Ku-sing had the time to linger around the starter village. Anyways, Dumbgirl thought the assailants wanted to become her ‘friends’, but Yip Ku-sing killed them all instead.

The involved fellas didn’t dare to approach Dumbgirl afterwards. Dumbgirl thought Yip Ku-sing killed her ‘friends’, scaring them away so they wouldn’t play with her, which then led to the scene in the wilderness.

From what Dumbgirl told her, the situation had gone on for a whole day already. Drako Yau guessed that Yip Ku-sing had let her do as she pleased because he was worried the assailants would trouble Dumbgirl again.
