Demon Legacy

In the morning.

Kaden woke up feeling fresh and bright awake. Today was the day of the entrance ceremony, and he also the day where he would find out what class he was placed in.

Despite his usual cool attitude, Kaden was still excited for this. He was confident that he would get into the Elite class, but it was a different thing to know for sure.

The family ate breakfast together without any complications. Something Kaden attributed to the First Miss not being present.

With breakfast out of the way, it was time to leave. It wouldn't look good if he was late on an important day like this.

Dressed in his uniform, he left through the front door. Sophie wasn't coming with him today as his mother Avery wanted to go instead. She hadn't been able to go with him yesterday, but she didn't want to miss his first real day of school. On the other hand his father excused himself, saying he had other matters to attend to.

Before letting him enter the flying car, Avery stopped him and made him pose in his school uniform.

"Ahh these pictures are so good. You're so cute!" Avery sat in the front seat looking through the pictures she had taken.

"Mom… We need to go." Kaden rolled his eyes. It was only with his mother that he could behave like this.

"Oh right." Avery stopped looking at pictures and began fiddling with the console, "Let me see… How was it again?" She didn't have any experience and had no idea how to input the destination.

Growing up her family couldn't afford to take a flying car and she didn't know how to control it now either. Ever since she married Lynwood there had always been someone to take care of these things for her.

"Honey do you know how to work this thing?" Unable to do it, she turned around and asked her son.

Kaden was speechless. If she didn't know how to do it, why had she insisted on them going alone without any servants? He truly didn't understand what was going through his mother's head.

"Oh nevermind. I think I figured it out." Thankfully she found out how enter the destination and the car soon began to lift off the ground.

As soon as the car took off, Avery wouldn't stop blabbing on and on about random things. She enjoyed spending time with her son and the act of taking him to school gave her a sense of joy and fulfillment.

Sure she could've had a servant do it, but then she wouldn't have felt like she was doing her duty as a mother.

It was slightly annoying listening to his mother drone on and on, but Kaden still had a smile on his face. There was no doubt that she was the one he was closest to and the one who meant the most to him.

At the First Student Academy.

Almost all of the parking spots were taken as the academy was swarming with students and their flying cars. There was a constant stream of cars landing, followed by the students inside getting out and entering the academy through the gate.

It wasn't that bad yesterday because the older students had been given the day off. There hadn't been any reason for them to be present for the 1st year students tests.

But today everyone was arriving close to the same time as it was a requirement for all students to attend the entrance ceremony.

While Kaden's flying car had priority in the air, it didn't have any priority for landing so it wasn't easy to find a spot.

Luckily the car was a newer model with a more advanced AI than the older models, it managed to snatch a spot rather quickly.

Inside of the flying car Kaden said goodbye, but he found himself being pulled in for a hug instead.

Just saying goodbye wasn't good enough for his mother, but it was hard to give a proper hug as the two were split into the front and back seat.

Right now Kaden was thankful for the car's tinted windows. It would've been a bit embarrassing if everyone saw him hugging his mother right in front of the academy.

Avery held him tight for a long while before being satisfied. She let go of him after saying she would be here to pick him up after school.

Free from the hug, Kaden got out of the car and entered through the same gate as the other students.

Kaden navigated the academy grounds and found his way to the auditorium where the entrance ceremony would be held.

Currently the auditorium was absolutely packed and most of the seats had already been taken. It took a bit of searching but Kaden was able to find a free seat in the area allocated to the 1st year students.

He waited in his seat as students kept trickling in from the door. Soon enough, all of the seats had been filled by students of every year.

A few more minutes passed before the dean walked up on the stage and took his spot in front of the podium.

"Welcome to all the new students here at First Student Academy. We're proud to have you here and can't wait to follow your journey as you grow and develop."

The dean first addressed the new students, before turning his attention to the seniors.

"To the senior students, it's good to have you all back. I hope you have all rested well during the break and that you're ready to learn again." The dean spoke a few more words to the senior students. He didn't have much to say to them and they were soon allowed to leave and begin their classes.

The auditorium thinned out as the 1st year students and their homeroom teachers were the only ones left in the audience.

All of the kids watched as the dean continued his speech up on stage.

The dean began speaking about the history of the school, the importance of education and so and so forth. It was a total snooze of a speech and Kaden couldn't remember much of it. He had zoned out early on even before the senior students had left.
