Demon Legacy

13 Pushing the Limits

Burcham had come back from his fantasy world and was now instructing Kaden as he trained.

"Keep pushing yourself." Burcham would motivate him from the side, urging him to work even harder.

Kaden was currently doing push-ups with a weight vest. The vest was loaded heavily with plates. There were 10 plates weighing 10 kg each, that totaled to 100 kg strapped to his body.

"Just a few more Young Master."

Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead and splattered on the floor. Right underneath his face, a big pool was starting to gather.

Training like this was exhausting. His body was strong but Burcham always made sure to keep him bordering right on the edge of his limit. There was no wasted time in their training.

Kaden's arms buckled underneath him as he lowered himself down to the floor. At the bottom of the movement it took his entire willpower to force himself back up.

He still had two more to go but his arms already felt dead. It felt like they weren't his own arms. Like they were someone else's arms and he didn't have any control over them.

One more time he went down, shaking the entire time. By now Burcham's voice had faded away in the background. Kaden was too focused and couldn't hear anything beyond his own breath and slight grunts.

His entire body hurt as he barely managed to gather enough strength to force himself up. Most of all his core muscles were super fatigued from stabilizing him for so long.

He went down again. There wasn't a single atom of his body that wasn't feeling the strain, but somehow he was stubborn enough to keep going.

This training was pushing him to his absolute limits. It was incredibly draining both physically and mentally. If he hadn't had his demon physique it would've been impossible for him to keep at it.

In the instant he completed the last push-up, he collapsed on the floor, completely out of breath and energy.

His awareness of his surroundings slowly returned and he heard Burcham speaking.

"Good job. We'll call it here for today." Burcham took a look at his com device to check the time, "Since you'll be busy with school starting tomorrow, we'll cut back on your training at home. Go take your bath and recover."

Kaden was happy to be done. He was already looking forward to the medicinal bath so he could regain control of his sore muscles.

With Burcham's help he managed to get back up, but it wasn't easy to stay standing. He left the practice room and headed towards the room where he took his medicinal baths.

Walking through the hallways, his legs were heavy and felt like lead. It took all he had just to make his limbs listen to him and avoid falling over.

When he finally entered the room he couldn't be any more delighted to see the bath was already ready and the room was empty.

Since Kaden had turned six, Sophie had stopped hanging around for his bath. She would fill it and then just leave him alone.

The only reason she was supposed to be there was to help him deal with the pain. Since it was a leisurely experience for Kaden, there was no need for her to stay.

After stripping off his clothes in a hurry, Kaden dragged himself into the tub.

As soon as he entered, the comfortable rejuvenating feeling spread across his entire body. His fatigue soon began to wash away and he slowly regained control of his breathing.

Leaning back and relaxing, he immersed himself in this wonderful feeling. Thanks to his demon physique he was able to enjoy the baths that everyone else felt were torturous.

After speaking with his little brother, he had found out that he was the only one who enjoyed the baths. Zander had come to fear them and would do everything he could to avoid taking one.

It was a shame because the medicinal liquid was very effective. It would be impossible for Kaden to train as hard as he did without it.

After soaking for a while, Kaden took a look at his com that he had worn into the tub. The 25 minutes he was supposed to stay in had already passed. He was a bit disappointed that the time had gone by so quickly.

Reluctantly he got out of the tub and began drying himself off. From the start he had been taught to only stay in for 25 minutes no matter what.

He had no idea what would happen if he stayed in for longer. Burcham had told him it would harm his body, but Kaden wasn't so sure if that also applied to him. There sure as hell wasn't any point to risking it though.

Shaking his arms he felt almost fully recovered. If he had to, he could endure a few more rounds of Burcham's training. But that was probably a bad idea. It was best to give the body the rest it needed and let it recover.

Feeling refreshed he put on a bathrobe and went back to his room to change into some clean clothes.
