han meixiu silently followed her father as she formed a number of questions on her mind. now it's her chance to get answers. although she didn't expect that he would answer everything, she at least hoped to get some clarification and lessen her questions.

they didn't walk that far. aside from the usual pharmacies within the vicinity, there was a small park. she thought they would talk there but there were quite a number of people. maybe because of the recent gang fight the place was a little crowded.

han yun xiang stopped his track that made her curious. she looked around and checked if there's something unusual that made him stop. since she couldn't see any, she thought he would say something.

but he didn't speak. he just stood there facing his back against her thus she couldn't see his reaction. he's actually a little conflicted.

after a few minutes, she couldn't hold much longer thus she asked, "we will talk here?" she hoped they would talk in somewhat isolated place and clearly, this place wasn't one.

"do you want to go to another place?" han yun xiang normally wanted to blend with the crowd while they talk but he could feel that his daughter was expecting a more deserted place.

he originally planned to just leave after dropping them to the hospital's emergency but when he saw her slumped down on the grass looking dejected, something tugged his heart.

though he knew she would probably ask questions that he wouldn't be able to answer, he still wanted to spend some idle time with her. he wasn't a good father and he's fully aware of that fact. if given another chance and different circumstances, he would be able to be a good father.

"a quieter place, perhaps?" she cautiously answered.

upon hearing her request, they continued to walk in silence. they arrived in a park which normally a place where old people hang out. but since it's already evening, it's pretty empty.

once they sat down in an old bench nobody started to speak. it seemed that they were both enjoying the silence company of each other.

it was han meixiu who couldn't stand anymore and started the conversation.

"thank you for helping us." she meekly said. it was indeed because of him that they were able to leave that place.

'she's now part of the liu family.' he inwardly said.

he knew that back in his younger days, the liu family already held a power in q city. just like any other influential families, they have their fair share of internal conflicts. but the current head was able to inherit the position in a sweeping manner silencing all the other candidates. he clearly was a formidable man.

if only han family didn't involve in shady transactions, he would gladly accept the challenge to become the next head and probably become a worthy competitor of the liu's. too bad, his father chose the dark path.

the young man that he saved was the older son of the current head. he could tell that he's a clever child. he was able to adjust the position of his body when he was shot thus the bullet avoided his body's vital parts. though there were obvious bleeding from the wounds, they're not life-threatening as they were mostly given a first aid.

he was actually wondering if someone helped him and administer the necessary treatment then hide him in that place as it's not easy to drag a wounded body and covered it with scraps by one's self. however, nobody was clearly around when they arrived.

he just pushed the idea at the back of his mind as it's not his concern anymore. he already helped and he's pretty sure the young man's safe now.

"you married into a good family." he softly said.

the word 'family' warmth her heart but at the same time gave her a melancholic feeling.

"yeah. they are all good." she responded and a slight smile appeared on her face.

"that's good to hear." if his daughter said they're all good then it simply meant she's not treated badly. the soft smile on her face gave him a sense of tranquility. she deserved to live peacefully. it was something he couldn't give, for now.

hearing her father's comment she couldn't help but wonder, he seemed to care for her but why was she left alone? her parents were clearly together but he never contacted her, not even once.

"i am an unwanted child?" she really gathered her courage to ask. she was preparing herself to whatever answer her father would give. if she really was; then that simple fact would explain everything. they didn't need her in their life.

"of course not." he wanted to normally continue to say 'you're our precious child.' but it would inquire more questions from her.

true enough, upon hearing han yun xiang's answer questions flooded on her mind.

"if not, why are you together but left me alone?" did her father think she couldn't handle taking care of her mother? she would definitely help! she wouldn't mind if they would constantly hide. that's actually another question she wanted to ask. but instead of answering he said something else.

"so, it was really you who visited the hospital." he already suspected it was her and wanted to confirm but she seemed harder to find. he wanted to give her a warning.

back in amethyst imperial hotel, he saw her but it was too risky to inquire further thus he waited for another chance. eventually that chance didn't come until he needed to go back to the capital.

"uh-huh." she answered while nodding her head. she has been found out and she didn't want to deny it.

"it was me."

"don't do it again." that action was dangerous not just for them but also for her.

she already received enough warning not to look for her parents but she couldn't settle down her curiosity just like that.

"why? i just wanted to see mom." she said as she dropped her head and her voice started to shake. she's not even allowed? when her father said she's not an unwanted child, what did it possibly mean? wasn't that a bit contradictory if she's not allowed to see her mother?

"she's not your mom." he answered and gave out a long sigh. he normally wanted to lie but han meixiu deserved to at least know. that woman wasn't her mother.
