Astraea

Chapter 22:Spin

The door of the convent opened and the man inside was startled to find five equally gorgeous girls standing in front of him. Though they all wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouth, their eyes and body suggest how beautiful they are.

"My, God blessed this day," The man shook his head looking at the five girls from head to toe while licking his lower lip.

"Hi, we are looking for Sister Faye, she is expecting us," Brylee said with a smile behind her mask.

The man grinned widely but not for long when he heard the other girl said.

"We are here for Torin Wald," Bell said in a grumpy tone.

The man frowned.

"What? I thought we were going to do this the easy way?" Brylee said matter-of-factly.

Bell cocked her head and said, "It's too long. I prefer it a hard and fast way." Then she walked past Brylee and Briony.

"Move aside," She said in an intimidating way looking at the man from head to toe.

The man who was dumbfounded unconsciously stepped aside to make way for the five girls. They were already at the center of the nave when the man snapped back.

"Wait!" His voice echoed through the walls of the empty nave.

The five girls look at him. The man opened his mouth to say something but he was cut when Bell spoke. "Where is Torin Wald?" Bell asked in a cold tone.

The man gritted his teeth and questioned them back, "Who are you?"

"I'm sorry but the introduction is not necessary. We are here for Torin Wald. Just tell us where he is and you will be spared." Brina started to persuade the man to help them and point where they could find Torin Wald.

But the man seems unwilling to help.

"You are bounty hunters, are you?" The man narrowed his eyes and his whole body is now on full alert.

The next thing they know, the man's voice is echoing inside the church. "Hunters! Hunters!" Alerting everyone inside the convent.

"I told you, I've never met a gang of men who didn't resist an arrest," Bell said sarcastically.

In just a fraction of seconds, they heard footsteps coming.

"We should separate," Brina suggested.

"Okay, Brylee take Brina with you and find Torin Wald. We'll meet you outside in five minutes." Bell said, staring at Brylee. Her eyes send a message that she knows Brylee and Brina could understand. She knows that Brylee could search for each and every room in less than five minutes.

She intentionally has Brina go with her because she knows that they are unlikely to be attacked since it looks like all the gang members that reside in the convent are coming their way except for Torin Wald that would most probably try to escape.

While she chose Briony to be with her because she knows that she can be harmed but she'll never be injured.

On the other hand, she was to keep an eye on Bianca.

Bianca can fight, but to what extent, she is yet to discover.

Briony closed her eyes, her eyeballs were moving under her lids. When she opened her eyes, she said, "Some of them will be coming from the second floor, in that stair." She pointed at the door near the main door.

"Someone's coming from the cloister." Briony continued. They looked at the door near the choir that is connected to the cloister.

"You can start behind that high altar." Briony pointed at the high altar opposite the main door.

"Okay, I'll see you in five minutes." Brylee made a salute gesture at Bell. Brina, on the other hand, waved goodbye.

"How many are there?" Bell asked, her eyes fixed on the man on the main door.

"Seven, plus that man, eight," Briony replied.

"Pick one, east or west?" Bell faced Briony while Bianca looked at her confused.

Briony cocked her head.

Bell looked at the door of the cloister and saw three men coming out of it.

Briony looked at the door near the entrance where the night stair is and saw four men coming from there. "I'll take the east." She said.

The east part of the church is where the high altar is, which is near to the door of the cloister. She chose it because there were only three gang members. Whereas the west side has five. She knew that Bell prefers more action.

"Okay, that sounds like a plan. Bianca, try and help if there is a chance." Bell said, making Bianca dumbfounded. Is that supposed to be a plan? She thought internally.

Bell, like a hungry wolf, was the first one to lunge an attack. She runs towards the main door and the man from the door runs towards her as well. When Bell saw four men appear from the night stairs, she diverted her body and made her way towards them instead.

Four is more fun than one, after all.

"He's yours!" Bell yelled looking at Bianca.

Bianca instantly understands and follows her to face the first man from the main door.

In an instant, the church became a battlefield.

Bianca managed to get an old staff that an old statue is holding. Her grip tightened on its shaft and used its end to poke the man's stomach then twisting her body, she expertly hit the man on his leg making him fall on his face flat but not before the staff hit his back.

While dealing with the four gang men, Bell watched Bianca at the corner of her eyes as she managed to knock out the first man with a staff.

There was a glint in her eyes, then she started to drag her fight where Bianca is. Bell pulled and pushed the gang men towards Bianca intentionally to see how Bianca would deal with them.

She watches as Bianca expertly spins the staff in coordination with her body and hits any gang men that come close to her making them limp on the floor.

There was a victorious smile on Bell's lips as if she discovered a long-lost treasure.

On the other hand, Briony is in the choir with the three other gang men, two were laid on the ground while Briony still has one man's neck on her hand.

"Are you alright?" Bell asked.

Briony glanced at her shoulder, "Yeah, almost done." As she says so, a cut on her left cheekbones gradually heals and fades away leaving no trace.

It was witnessed by the man on her hand whose eyes were wide in disbelief. His eyes drifted from Briony's cheekbones then to her eyes that were staring at him.

Briony put her finger on her lips gesturing him to stay quiet before her fist landed on her face. The man falls, unconscious.

Meanwhile, Brylee is dragging Brina as they appear and disappear in each room of the convent.

"Eew, not here," Brylee said when they appeared in the convent's reredorter or toilets and found it empty. Like a bubble that burst they were gone and reappeared inside one of the convent's empty dormitory.

"Wait!" Brina said, pulling her wrist from Brylee. She closed her eyes and leaned on a bedpost. "This is worse than riding a rollercoaster." She commented while regaining her balance.

"Are you okay?" Brylee asked with concern.

"I don't know how you do it but I am pretty sure that I didn't scatter my body particles around this convent for you to be able to transport me from one place to another. This phenomenon could only occur when..." Brina was saying something when Brylee stopped her.

"Shh...don't start me with your physics theory. If you cannot explain how you were able to heal any injured living creature, much more I cannot explain these abilities of mine. And I don't want to waste my neurons in making up theories. Right now, I want to catch Torin Wald and deliver him to Iris because I still have a Boeuf Bourguignon to master." Brylee stated with her arms crossed.

"Let's go," Brylee said ardently.

"Urgh!" Brina groaned. I should've stayed at the church. She complained internally.

Finally, they appeared in front of Torin Wald and his wife who were making their way out of the exit of the dormitory.

Torin and his wife's eyes were wide in shock as if they saw a ghost that suddenly appeared in front of them.

"Y-you..." Torin stuttered and Brylee knew what he was trying to say.

"Oh, God! We were running after you and you were too preoccupied in making your escape you didn't even notice that we managed to catch up with you two," Brylee said pretending to catch her breath.

"Y-you j-just...a...appear...you," But Torin still looked dumbfounded.

"Did you just teleport?" His wife managed to say her words but in amusement and disbelief.

"Are you high on drugs?" Brylee replied sarcastically.

"As of now, the law of physics would not allow teleportation to be possible. Although we can teleport information about an object, we cannot teleport the physical object. That's impossible for now." Brina lectured the couple in front of her in her most reliable way.

The couple looked at Brylee and Brina quizzically.

Brylee gets to study the couple up close.

"Wow, you have a thing with an older woman?" Brylee commented looking at the woman then to Torin making the woman enraged and forget about two girls appearing in front of them like a ghost.

"You..." The woman seethed.

"It's almost up," Brina said in a soft voice looking at her wristwatch.
