Chapter 87:Why Are You Sweet?

Sheloah said good night to Shannara then she walked to her hotel room where her family and where Veon is staying. Sheloah entered the elevator and had pressed the eleventh floor button since that's where their hotel room is located.

The elevator stopped on the sixth floor and Sheloah was quite surprised to have seen Josh entering. She smiled at him as they waited for the elevator to reach the eleventh floor.

"Josh, not sleeping yet," Sheloah asked as she leaned on the elevator wall.

"Not yet. I just checked on Dannie if she's okay," Josh answered and Sheloah squinted her eyes at him teasingly.

Dannie is Josh's crush since they were in their first year of high school. He had been in love with her already for almost four years. People could almost say that it was indeed unrequited love.

"What did you talk about then," Sheloah probed then the elevator door opened. They walked outside and sat on a nearby couch to continue the conversation.

Sheloah touched Josh's shoulder. "Are you okay?"

Josh stopped smiling when Sheloah asked him if he was okay. He realized that Sheloah knew him too well, so he answered her honestly.

"I don't actually know, Sheloah," he said then he sighed heavily. "Even though I know that I don't stand a chance, why do I still dedicate my time to her? I mean… why do I still give efforts?"

Sheloah nodded at him slowly, understanding his situation. "Maybe because your feelings are genuine," she commented and Josh rested his back on the couch's rest.

"I find it kinda annoying, y'know? Because of how much I love her, I feel so stupid," Josh said and this made Sheloah laugh. "I'm hopeless, aren't I," he added and Sheloah hit him slightly on his shoulder.

"Silly! We all go through this phase, right? Like me with Veon," she said as she rolled her eyes when she said Veon's name. Now it was Josh's turn to laugh.

"Thanks, Sheloah. I have someone to talk to," Josh said sincerely and she gave him a sweet smile.

"No prob! We've been friends for quite some time now so it's only natural, right," Sheloah said and Josh nodded at her then hugged her, appreciating Sheloah being his best friend.

The two had parted ways and Sheloah went straight to the hotel room. The moment she entered, she saw her family resting, then she saw Veon beside her cousin. He was reading a magazine that the hotel room had probably provided.

Veon noticed that Sheloah was back so he put down his magazine. "Where have you been?"

Sheloah raised her brow at him as she felt like she was a child who had gone home late, being lectured by a strict father.

"I just got some fresh air by the water fountain. I also had a talk with Shannara and I had met Josh on the way back," Sheloah answered directly then she rolled her eyes at the end.

Veon sighed. "I know you're okay but I still feel bothered by your sudden actions. Of course, I'd worry about you!"

Sheloah frowned.

'Not this again…'

She sighed. "I'm sorry, okay? I'll try my best not to do it again."

"Don't you dare leave my line of sight, okay," Veon said and this made Sheloah raise her brow at him.

"Why are you so sweet?"

Veon coughed a bit when he heard Sheloah say this.

"Sweet? What sweet?" Veon's face started to redden as he avoided Sheloah's gaze. "I'm just worried about a friend," he added and Sheloah just laughed at him, teasingly.

"I'm just joking, Veon," Sheloah said and she smiled at him. "I'll try my best to keep my promise," she added and Veon rolled his eyes at her.

"Yeah, I hope so," Veon said as Sheloah made her way beside her cousin.
