An Ton's Journey

Chapter 83 - Confusion

* Ughhhh *

Sound of man's pained voice came. It might've been not loud, but in absolute silence that was around him, it was heard clearly. Heard by whom? By himself.

There were nothing around him except stone walls and chains connecting him to these walls. He, after standing up in confusion, tried understanding his situation. His memories were jumbled and confusing. Some things were contradicting each other, like attempts at getting evil beings to try and listen to logic. Like, why? What was the reason for such a useless thing? He knew that it would bring more troubles than it's worth.

Alarming the organisation that rules the world that you can be it's enemy just for few righteous people? Stupid idea. Could've just met them personally.

Trying to feel anything around him, he could only see stone walls and nothing else. After understanding that he is alone here, he began trying to remember what happened and how he got there.

~ Some unknown time before ~

Preparations for the incoming fight were successful. Half of the world already moved below the sea, grand line and many islands were covered in weaponry that couldn't be imagined before Anton began spreading his androids around the world. Still, other half stayed at their homes, not willing to leave their homes.

Marines and 'World government', or what was left of it were fighting against Anton's expanding influence. In the first year, just as Anton's reputation was dirt poor, Some news began appearing - revealing that most of the things that were accredited to Anton were actually done by different people. Some were even done by marines to discredit Him and make everyone his enemy.

People knew that world was getting ready for war, but they didn't know details, as only the strongest knew them... and anyone who couldn't be trusted was obliviated of details.

~ some time later? ~

Situation went a little bit out of control. News about incoming enemies spread across the world, making people panic. Civilians didn't believe that it was possible to win in this war.

Cultists that wanted to give up began appearing all across the world. Unknowingly, supported by World government that somehow still kept some influence, even after getting almost annihilated.

Anton began noticing how more and more things were being forgotten by him. Sometimes important. Strangely, mostly knowledge was getting forgotten. Not things that happened in his life.

* Boom *

* Boom *

* Clang *

* Clash *

* Ding *

In hindsight, I should've put more attention on this, as humans are dumb. How many times did I make the same mistake and allowed betrayal?

Two? Not much, but it's strange that it happened twice.

After that, Global search and destroy operation began. I didn't have time to do everything peacefully anymore.

Some people rebelled at such a cruelty, but I didn't care anymore. I can't waste time. Sadly, my serum that I spread to many strong people, didn't connect them to hive. It only allowed for such a thing, but with time this ability just disappeared. It seems it's not so simple.

I still can feel some signs of emotions or intents while they are around, but no connection like I hoped for.

At some point in time, as I already finished creating couple of safehouses buried deep below the sea level, completely covered by peculiar stone of this world, I found out that Luffy was not happy with how I was doing things and wanted to fight me to make me become good again...

Yea, well... He tried reaching me, but Garp, knowing full seriousness of situation, pushed him off, protecting him from possible lockdown inside stasis chamber. Yep, Even Garp understood that some things were necessary evil. Especially at war.

Yep, war. Last half a year before Borg arrival, I initiated wartime policy, so no more mishaps would happen. I couldn't spend more time on repairing and hunting. I still was working on collider cannons that would shoot particles at enemy, shredding them before they understand anything.

All around the world, those particle flak cannons were being placed in addition to the standard forts that had so much stuff that Calling them huge Swiss cannon would be not exaggeration. These forts literally had so much weapons that I doubt anyone could find a place to infiltrate inside.

As for planet sized collider, it failed. It was too massive and would waste too much time and resources, and it's without talking about fragility of such a project. One broken part, and it's useless. Not really practical.

~ Some time before awakening ~

For a few days I, just like many others, could hear massive fight happening in the distance. Thankfully, shield was still intact, until first small crack appeared and they began teleporting in.

Crack was not wide, wouldn't let even insect to pass through, but teleportation was different. Some small triangular ships were teleporting in, just to be destroyed by first line of defence, satellite network.

But not just simple satellite network, it was controlling and optimizing necessary weaponry and forces in the sky, to destroy anything with masses of scouts and eight carriers filled with rocket interceptors.

Yep, eight was all that I had time for, but they were not your simple old carriers. They were superweapon by themselves in addition to hundreds of interceptors filled with primitive physical weapons, as energy weaponry is theoretically useless against them. Obviously, not all the weapons on the planet were physical. No-one stopped energy weapons from overpowering the Borg shields with pure firepower.

As first ships appeared, they were rapidly dispatched by the scouts, but teleportation was a tricky thing, so any place not behind the shield could be used to teleport, so, all around the planet small ships. One after another began teleporting and trying to attack. Thankfully, scouts were fast and many. Their reaction time was instant with the help of worldwide network of satellites that even had their own portable shields and two interceptors each.

Yep. I installed world wide protection in front of the shield.

Why didn't I create shield to stop teleportation ? Well... imagine when will they attack then? Right after big shield breaks or cracks heavily enough. You know, I don't want to fight all their forces at once. It's stupid, I better fight them in small portions and slowly lower their number.

Slowly... uhuh...
