An Ton's Journey

Chapter 26 - Well, not so easy anymore.

After enemy escaped, we continued to wait, recollect, and recharge.

While it was happening, I heard a report of all the pilots that had their ships destroyed, made it back alive. No problems with that part.

And here I thought, how would they complete their funeral. Seems I have yet to learn a lot about their culture and norms.

As I was thinking about it, all the ships got back in to the formation.

There were five main groups.

One being warp prism array, as it requires precise structure and works mainly under control from the people sitting in the Nexus. Obviously, many things were simplified using computers.

The second group consists of Heavy battleships - Carriers. Every carrier have pilots on board, and production facilities for destroyed interceptors.

Production facilities consisted of parts ȧssemblers, that can modify interceptors with different weapons fir different situations, interceptor warp gates, that warp interceptors from the other places, and warp beacons used to warp in different weapons, of needed.

The carriers themselves, have no weapons, as their main priority is to have good protection and release interceptors.

Better, bigger, and more complicated versions of carriers might have a weapon, but to reproduce their design it will require time that we don't have.

Interceptors themselves, can have different configurations, but the base that almost all of them have consists of one core, which have all the controlling and connection devices, and have a connection sphere.

The sphere mainly gets connected to two wings, each of which have an engine and can turn in any direction around the central core, as it is installed on to the spherical railway connectors. Just like on Arrowbiter. On the wings there is a basic ion guns that use excessive energy from engines.

Third group is artillery. Those are Tempests. They are grouped further apart from any ships, as their weapon explodes upon being destroyed, and it might destroy anything around it.

Fourth group are scouts. They are middle size ships that shoot heavy loaded missiles that can cause big explosions with standard ammo.

And custom ammo, for example fast shooting chain rockets that are shot all around the target and explode pretty big zones, are not yet recreated.

The fifth, and the last one are Nexus. The commanding center. It is in its own group as it can be compared to them in firepower and importance.

Kinda sad that corsairs are not yet available, but I imagine they would be extremely effective against small ships.

As we received signal from the leading carrier, our army began to warp out, one group after another.

When we all warped out, we saw no enemies, so we sent observers to search for them, and used star maps to navigate to the enemy planets.

As we were getting closer and closer, our observers found out that there were a lot more ships gathered around the planets.

Some of them were army, some looked like hunters, some trade ships and even pirates came out to fight in this battle.

Around eleven thousand enemy ships. at the very least, and who knows how much are on the way here, as there were many planets under control of their ruling king.

This time, though they began trying to contact us.

While we initially thought that they would try to negotiate peaceful way to finish this conflict, we were wrong.

It seems that description of them being cruel and aggressive, was pretty on point.

They wanted us to give up and allow them to capture us peacefully, as there were more ships coming from their side.

And peace was never an option in their dictionary.

After making a show to them, of council and Fenix discussing things, they were ordering a sequence of actions, as this will be a long and hard fight for us, as they were outnumbering us.

The first order was obviously made to use tempests to shoot out in certain fashion, in rings from outside to the inside, and from inside to the outside, as this will make it harder for enemies to evade those shots.

The action began with Tempests charging and shooting first energy bombs.

When enemies began moving to us, they already saw what tempests could do, so they evaded their shots beforehand, some by moving inside and some moving outside of the attack circles, without knowing what awaits them, as energy balls become bigger and bigger, the further they are.

Our carriers began releasing interceptors with incredible coordination, all interceptors from each carrier formed wings that were flying in that formation until they met first enemy, after that, they all at the same time, changed directions and began shooting while using their adaptable wings and inertia to the fullest.

This initial collision began fast, and continued fir a very long time, as there were a lot of good pilots from both sides.

The main fight was happening when interceptors fought against the middle or big sized ships.

Their weapons could not penetrate easily through enemy shields, so they concentrated on shooting in the same zone, as it would be easier to penetrate it.

The wonders of interceptors is in their agile movements. As enemy was distracted on some interceptors, the others, that sometimes weren't targeted, used their engines to get into semi- stationary state to the target, as they had more time to shoot enemy that way. That rarely happened.

The enemy ships were overwhelming our interceptors and scouts in sheer numbers, so we were getting some losses from our side.

The best thing about enemy numbers, and Nexus - were that they were incompatible.

Enemy heavy ships targeted it in the first place, but were distracted by tempests, so they had no chance against rains of shots shot from Nexus.

The battle was going on for ten minutes, and we were losing all more and more ships, interceptors could not be produced fast enough, and after we just lost our Carrier, we began losing the battle.

The hardest thing was that enemies were coming from all sides, what was expected but not though out beforehand, as there were no experience fighting battles where enemies could appear from anywhere.

On our side, all tempests were already destroyed, and many prisms could not work properly and create a shield.

Almost all scouts were destroyed, and carriers damaged pretty harshly.

On their side, they lost much more, they lost at least three to five thousand small ships and around a thousand of medium to large ones.

The only undamaged thing was Nexus.

Its shields were long broken, but its hull had just a few scratches and dark spots from explosions.

No dents, no breaches. It is one awesome material.

But even this material would be heating a little by little, if they will continue shooting at the same spot, as they began doing so a minute ago.

We sent all our remaining ships out of the fight, to warp back to the rakata, for now.

And we began moving in to the direction of their planet, and we are gonna land on it.

If we will be able to land on it, we will be able to use our main cannon on full capacity.

While we were moving, we were non stop shooting at the enemy, but they were circling all around us so we could not damage them a lot at the same time, and the most problematic thing is, our cannon is on the top, and. they were shooting at our bottom.

So, to kill them, we had to turn Nexus a lot, what would slow us down a lot, so we just shot at everything we could, even the planet, so to distract them and their planetary defenses from the Nexus itself.

Well, as our cannon could turn pretty much immediately, we were shooting some shots at the planets defenses, and some at the enemies.

Some small ships could evade our shots, because they are small and fast, but many medium and big sized ships that were unlucky enough to be in our attack zone, were not so lucky. The moment any big ship got in to our attack zone, due to us turning to land properly, we started shooting.

As their main ship was the one to be unlucky, the lightwork began.

Their shields were very strong and they used their cannons to shoot in the shots paths, so the resulting explosions would stop some of them from reaching.

As their biggest ship was trying to get out of there, we were not letting it, deciding not to care about planets defenses for now.

As the flagship was turning to get out of here, and Nexus was getting all closer and closer to the planet's surface, the shield of their flagship was destroyed and our shots began separating it in half, as it was not really that far from us for shots to spread out too much.

As it was separating it, it finally turned enough and used hyperdrive and escaped.

Well, I don't know if they would be okay with that much damage.

After this small distraction, Nexus finally reached the surface and landed right where it could.

Now the only thing that left os to wait. To wait for the Nexus to connect to the planet's heat energy source.

Thank you for reading, and enjoy if you can.

Well, the fight is reaching its deciding point.

So what will happen after Nexus begin using its main weapon? why no space ship ever shoots down to the planet's surface? What will our mc do while waiting for Nexus to connect? what will enemy send to fight them on land?

Who knows xD
