Chapter 86 - Epilogue

The great hunt ended with the eradication of demons from Gaia. The demons had to close all gates to Gehenna.

The angels that fell from Eden flew back from the gate Black had created on that mountain. But some stayed. Black passed a decree through Asmodeus, our maid, that none shall use their abilities in my city unless it's necessary.

And my Black, the person responsible for everything, he paid the price for his selfish action. His emerald eyes. I remembered how one day Black screamed out my name from the bedroom. I ran upstairs and he was just gazing into the mirror. He turned his head towards me and said, "I can't see! It's all blurred."

He gave up his ability to see the lifestream and his eyes degenerated of that. But I was glad that the degeneration stopped and his eyesight could be corrected with glasses.

His body and his brain had trouble in coordination. He would sometimes drop the glass while drinking. His muscles would have tremors at random times. His body would always feel bursts of pain, especially in the back. It became hard for him to manage his long hair and he pleaded with me to cut them short. And I did.

But that wasn't the worst. The worst was how Black lost that energetic lightning from his eyes. Sadness took over him. He stayed normal only when I was nearby. Rest of the time, he would sulk around and cry his tears out as if they were some river. It was as if he was always mourning.

Black didn't tell me about it. But I knew. My eyes could see through everything. Especially through his lies.

But it all changed after three weeks. I remembered that day when I came back from the hospital. Black was sitting on the couch staring into nothingness.

"Black," I called out to him. When he heard me, he turned his head and passed me a weak smile.

"How did it go?" I was so nervous and so happy at the same time that I didn't know how to tell him.

"Black. I'm pregnant." I spoke slowly and said it straight.

"What?" At first, he was dumbstruck. His mind couldn't understand those simple words for a moment. And then it hit him. His eyes widened and at that moment, I felt that lightning return in his eyes. He jumped up from the couch and pounced upon me as if he was a predator. He stopped right in front of me.

"Tell me I didn't hear it wrong. Say it again, wifey."

"I'm pregnant. We are going to have a baby."

As soon as I finished speaking, Black wrapped his arms around my shoulder and hugged me tightly and yet tenderly. He kissed me on my lips so passionately that I could feel his happiness pouring into me.

"I love you. I love you! I'm so happy!"

I was feeling the same!

"Can I name her?" Black raised his head and pleaded with those puppy dog eyes. How could I ever deny them?

"How do you know our baby is a girl, not a boy?"

"Just a feeling."

"Okay. But if it's something as cringy as Angelheart, then you can forget about it!"

"Vena. How is Vena?"

"It sounds beautiful. What does it mean?"

"In the language of fairies, it means kind."

"How long have you been thinking about it? And don't you lie."

"Um... Ever since you told me that my naming sense s.u.c.k.e.d, 'Angelheart'."

"Well. One down. Thirty-two more go."
