Ablackwing

Chapter 72 - Gabrielle And Sophiel

After getting my medicines from Serena, I had sandwiches as lunch outside and then drove back to home. I was fifteen minutes away from my home when I saw two streaks of purple and green light pass by like a comet above my car. The car shook a little because of shockwave from the fast moving object but I was glad that there was no damage and my car wasn't pushed much.

Before I could think what those lights might be, I saw that they had landed on the road a few hundred meters ahead. After looking at the two persons there, it didn't take me long to realize that they were angels. Two angels were standing in the middle of the road with their wings unfolded.

I felt like I was an angel attracting magnet. So many angels fall around me!

While looking at their posture, I could tell that they intended to stop me and I didn't want to crash on them either. I stopped the car in front of them and stepped out. As I did, they retreated back their wings.

They were wearing formal clothes with the sleeves of their shirt folded. Both of the women were so beautiful that I would have known that they were angels even if I hadn't seen their wings. Every angle I had seen had otherworldly beauty and they all exuded a charm that cant be described, but can be felt.

The angel on the left had long purple hair and the one on the right had slightly shorter green. I wondered why angels come in so many colours even though they belong to same species. Do they, perhaps, dye their hair? That was beyond me.

Those two angels looked at me with serious expressions as if I had committed a grave sin. I was ready to scare them with my Black's name if they tried to wrongfully accuse me.

"Hello Eve. I am Gabrielle and this is Sophiel." The angel with purple hair introduced both of them politely.

"Do you have any idea where Black... I mean Black-winged angel is right now?" I hurriedly asked. They were angels and the only ones who could tell me where my Black might be.

"We don't know..." It was an instant disappointment but I quickly got over it. I was glad that I didn't raised my hopes up too high.

"We were ordered to guard you and not appear in front of you. But you see, there is a very powerful demon near your place. Even though we are higher angels, we can not deal with that demon." Gabrielle blushed a little as she spoke. "So we hope that you do not go there."

"How long have you both been guarding me?"

It was surprising to find out they angels were guarding by my side without me knowing anything. And not just any angel. But higher angels! Black had told me about hierarchy of angels. There were half-angels, angels, ranked angels, higher angels, seraphs and the legendary angels. The higher angels were just below the seraphs and their number was barely enough to reach triple digits. And two of those higher angels were guarding me!

"I guess five months?" Gabrielle wasn't that sure.

"170 days." That angel with green hair commented.

"And if I may enquire, why are you guarding me? I am an ordinary person. I don't think that I need any protection."

"The one who can tame that person is anything but ordinary..." Gabrielle lightly chuckled and I felt that her words were familiar.

"Shh... Mr Rai ordered to guard you." Sophiel nudged Gabrielle lightly with her arm and answered me. Now who the hell was this Rai guy!

"I don't know any Mr Rai. Are you sure you got the right person?"

Ah. I remembered that person. Wasn't he the head of Gaia core and the person black extorted for money? One of the few friends my Black has.

"Yea. I've heard about him. But I'm not that familiar with him either."

"Actually, I heard from my brother that the Black-winged angel requested this mission."

I couldn't help but sigh after hearing that.

He was such an idiot. Sending angle as guards to watch over me while he was gone. But I still felt warm in my heart. Even though he was gone, he did everything he could to guard me.

"For how long do I need to stay away from my home? I can stay at my aunt's place for today. That demon should leave by tomorrow, right?"

They looked at each other for a second and then they turned towards me.

"I think you should never return to that place. It'll be very troublesome to live there as demons know about it. And I don't think that even my brother can chase away that demon."

No way in hell would I just give up on my house too! That was the place carved with the memories of my dear ones. And most importantly, that was the place where I met the love of my life and lived with him, even though it was for a short while. If it was my Black, I was ready to let go of that place. But it was someone else to request that of me and I couldn't comply.

To be honest, I had planned to recreate such dangerous situations if he wasn't back after few more months. Like getting in front of a moving car or jumping from the top of a building. Too reckless, right? But what choice did I have.

"I'm sorry. I can not do as you have said."

"This..."

"We can not bear the responsibility if something were to happen to you."

"We are to protect you from harm even if it costs us our life. Don't make it hard for us, please. We do not wish to use force." They were adamant about stopping me.

"You don't need to protect me. I've this." I pulled the necklace out from beneath my dress and showed it to them. They eyes sparkled up just like mine must have when I first saw that red gem.

"So beautiful..."

"Amazing!"

"This is infused with some strange magic and Black will appear if I am in some dangerous situation... I thank you for your protection but you can go back now. Tell Mr Don that I am glad for his concern but it's not needed."

I pressed horn repeatedly but they didn't move aside quickly. They kept discussing something in the middle of the road. I tried to back up and drive from the side but they then moved in front of me, preventing me from driving away.

After about five minutes or so, they moved. But instead of flying away, they walked to my car. Gabrielle sat in the front seat while Sophie sat in the backseat.

"You both are still coming with me?

"It's okay if what you say is truth and he is summoned if you were to come to anything dangerous. But by any chance, this summoning item didn't work and you come to any harm, we..." Gabrielle shuddered and didn't complete her sentence.

"Gab. Our personal safety should be the least of your worries..."

"Hey, ain't Mr Don very top cruel? Punishing both of you for my actions."

"It's not Mr Rai who frightens us. It's the Black-winged angel." Sophie answered.

"But how can anyone get frightened of that cute person." I shook my head and murmured. Last time, he couldn't even scare the demons away.

"Sigh..." Gabrielle sighed for some reason. Apparently my murmur wasn't low enough.

Black being cute had nothing to do with me being his wife. He was the cutest person even before that. I didn't reply to them because I knew they won't believe me. I started driving back to home. Whatever their reason may be, I was still grateful towards them for coming with me.

"I have a question. Can I ask?"

"Sure."

"Do you know of forced summon?"

"Yeah. You want to know about it?"

"Could it happen that someone being force summoned refuse the summoning?"

"That's impossible. As the name says, forced summon is 'forced'. Normal summoning can be negated but forced summon can not. Even if the other party is against being summoned, they can not do anything. Why do you ask?"

If that was the case, than there was something wrong with the way I was summoning Black. He was not refusing me!

"Ah I see. Thanks."

We were two minutes away from my house when I was asked to stop the car.

"It would be better that we walk from here." Gabrielle said and I didn't deny her request. I parked at the side and we all got out of the car.

As I looked towards Gabrielle, I saw a long sword with a red metallic blade appear in her hand. The sword was straight and double edged with some patterns or I can say runs carved in it. Gabrielle repeatedly swung the sword around for warm up and as she did, I think I saw a red hue shining from that blade for a moment. I don't know if it was my imagination or reality.

Sophiel just extended her arm and I saw wind blowing around her, dragging her hair in an unintentional flight. The winds blew faster and faster and Sophiel looked like the incarnation of storm. Those winds came to an abrupt halt when Gabrielle questions her.

"You know what to do in case that item doesn't work, right Sophie?"

"Just how many times will you repeat it?"

"Tell me."

"I'll flee with Eve and you'll try to delay that demon for as long as you can. Happy now?"

"Good. Don't you dare do anything reckless like staying with me to help. The fate of our world lies in our hands."

I couldn't help but feel weird on how they were talking about my safety as the fate of their world. Looking at their 'do or die' expression, I seriously started thinking about quitting. Perhaps it wasn't that good of an idea to bet on the powers of the necklace.

"It's too late to back down now. The demon already knows we are here."
