A Legendary Thief

Xiao Yu discovered that he behaved much more calmly when he faced players than when he faced monsters. Monsters were more unpredictable, but with players, Xiao Yu could easily assess the strength of his opponents. Since he knew the strength of his opponents, he had nothing to fear.

The priest was three meters away from the fire mage. They were both focusing their attention on the battle in front of them, unaware of the danger that was closing in on them.

The druid was fighting against the higher-level mountain cat and had lost a great deal of health. With 35% health remaining, he was urgently in need of healing.

The priest raised his magic staff, ready to send treatment to the druid.

“This is the right opportunity.” Xiao Yu leaped up and jabbed the dagger in his right hand at the back of the priest’s head with all his strength.

As soon as the priest raised his magic staff, he felt a strong cold intent behind his head. “No, somebody is sneak-attacking me!” thought the priest. The dagger pierced into the back of the priest’s head before he could flee and call out to the two of his colleagues.

“I did it.” Xiao Yu knocked the priest unconscious and used the backstabbing skill after rotating sideways.

“Hurry up and treat me. What are you doing?” The druid in front was so anxious that he was to curse the priest out. He blocked the attacks of the mountain cat as he retreated. Seeing his health reduce, the druid grew worried. Still, the healing treatment from the priest hadn’t arrived.

“Treat him quickly!” yelled the fire mage. By the time he turned his head around, he saw another man standing by the priest. The priest seemed to have been controlled. “We’re being attacked. Flying Moth is being controlled!”

The shout of the fire mage startled the druid. He took out a vial of instant health potion and drank all of it. At the moment, he had no time to mull over if drinking the instant health potion was worth it or not.

The druid’s health returned to full volume as he blocked the attacks of the mountain cat. After spinning his head around, he found that the priest was being controlled. He grew worried. Damage values between five and 100 points emerged from the head of the priest. The opponent was a thief, and the damage values were pretty high.

But the druid couldn’t take care of what was happening behind him because he was engaged with the large mountain cat at the moment.

The fire mage threw a fireball at Xiao Yu. It exploded on him with a loud bang, and a damage value of more than 80 points emerged from Xiao Yu’s head. The fire mage had knocked out 31% of Xiao Yu’s health.

The priest only had 33% of his health left. A fireball headed toward Xiao Yu. Seeing the priest on the verge of waking up, Xiao Yu had no choice but to use the evisceration skill while withstanding the attack of the fireball. He reached into the priest’s heart by using the evisceration skill and then tore his chest apart.

The priest dropped to the ground with high damage points drifting up from his head.

The druid charged at the mountain cat. His claw tore open the chest of the mountain cat, and fresh blood gushed out.

The mountain cat staggered a little before finally dropping to the ground, dead.

The druid turned around and saw that the battle was over.

The priest was killed. The fire mage kicked the corpse of the mountain cat lying on the ground in frustration. He had to admit it was bad luck to encounter a player from the Evil Federation in the wild field.

The druid asked while looking at the fire mage, “What should we do now?” The priest was dead, and he was still a low-level priest that hadn’t learned how to revive yet. In other words, the dead priest couldn’t be revived, to say nothing of the loss of an item. Furthermore, they would be under threat of a thief all the time.

“But Moth can’t just die for nothing. I’ll find him,” said the druid furiously.

The fire mage was lost in thought. He mused over how the complicated environment was advantageous for a thief. The opponent was quite strong, and he had no intention to lose his life in an effort to avenge Flying Moth.

Xiao Yu was eating bread silently behind a large rock at the moment, waiting for his health to recover.

The druid, who was still in cougar form, smelled the corpse of Flying Moth and then stepped onto a small path. He glanced at the fire mage and said, “He would have gone this way.”

“Are we not going to avenge Flying Moth?” demanded the druid. Looking at the mountain cat guarding the young kitten, he felt resentful and didn’t want to give the opportunity of capturing a young kitten to their enemy.

“Did you hear me?” the fire mage exclaimed icily.

The druid slapped the corpse of the mountain cat in anger, making it roll on the ground. But he had to listen to the command of the fire mage. He was following on the heels of the fire mage, and the two of them picked up the items dropped by the mountain cats. They then traversed among the ragged rocks and disappeared without a trace.

Xiao Yu checked his own health and found it had already fully recovered. Looking around, he didn’t find any traces of the druid or the fire mage.

“Did they leave?” Xiao Yu was baffled. But after a second thought, he believed it was the best choice for them. Fighting against a thief in such a complicated terrain was disadvantageous for them. If he were in their situation, he would choose to leave as well.

Xiao Yu fixed his eyes on the mountain cat that was protecting the young kitten. He wondered if those two players had given up on capturing the young kitten that was worth 30 gold coins.

If he could kill the large mountain cat, he would be able to capture the young kitten for sure, and the 30 gold coins would be his.

“Wait a minute.” Xiao Yu stopped short and told himself that he shouldn’t rush into the battle because he had no idea if the druid and the fire mage would return. His life would be over if they sneak-attacked him during his fight with the large mountain cat.
