A Legendary Thief

The druid glanced at the ragged rocks in the distance.

“What’s the matter?” asked the priest.

“Nothing,” replied the druid. He smelled an unusual scent, but he thought it could just be the large mountain cats or other wild monsters.

The three players were busy killing the mountain cats in the area. Xiao Yu was following behind them and looked for an opportunity to attack them.

“It’s a mountain kitten!” the priest cried in surprise. The druid and the mage followed the pointing finger of the priest and saw three large mountain cats pacing back and forth. Beside these big cats, a small mountain kitten with yellow fur was jumping around joyfully.

“If we capture this mountain kitten, we’ll be able to sell it to the animal trainer for a good price.” The druid looked at the priest and the fire mage with a beam of confidence showing in his eyes.

“But it’ll be kind of difficult to deal with three mountain cats at the same time,” the fire mage said thoughtfully. It was indeed risky to challenge three mountain cats all at once.

“We can’t just give up, though. A captured mountain kitten is worth at least 30 gold coins!” the druid protested excitedly.

Hearing this price, Xiao Yu was astonished. He didn’t expect a small kitten to be sold for such a high price. Xiao Yu remembered that the profession of animal trainer existed in the Orc Kingdom of Taitalia. He decided to capture this kitten because 30 gold coins wasn’t something he should turn a blind eye to.

Thinking of the saying, “A Carduelis is waiting behind the mantis that is chasing after a cicada,” Xiao Yu knew that his opportunity had arrived. If the three of them were to capture the mountain kitten, they would have to eliminate the three large mountain cats first. It would be a perfect moment for him to sneak-attack them.

The priest and the druid looked at the fire mage. It appeared that the fire mage, among the three of them, was the one responsible for making decisions.

The fire mage looked around and fixed his gaze on a narrow patch amid the ragged rocks, his eyes alight.

“We can make use of the land formation to ambush them,” said the fire mage.

Upon hearing this, the druid and the priest understood what the fire mage meant at once.

“Big brother’s always got many good ideas,” remarked the druid with a smile.

“Come on. Try to draw the monsters out, but don’t make any mistakes,” the fire mage reminded the druid.

“Don’t worry,” replied the druid confidently. He transformed into a cougar and jumped onto a rock.

The fire mage and the priest retreated to the narrow spot among the rocks, with the fire mage in front and the priest in back. According to their plan, the druid would retreat to the narrow spot later. Due to the formation of the ragged rocks, only one mountain cat could attack the druid at a time. As such, the three of them could safely finish off the three large mountain cats one at a time.

Seeing what they planned to do, Xiao Yu furrowed his brows. It would be hard for him to sneak-attack them when they hid in a narrow area amid the ragged rocks.

Xiao Yu surveyed the arrangement of the ragged rocks in the area and let out a faint smile. He had found a way to get behind the priest. There was a small path leading to his rear; this path was too narrow for the large mountain cats, but it was wide enough for Xiao Yu to pass through. This small path was programmed for the players to begin with, and it became an excellent route for Xiao Yu at the moment.

Roar!!!

The druid, who had transformed into a cougar, roared at the three large mountain cats. The three cats didn’t want to show their weakness and roared back. The mountain kitten was scared and hid behind the three mountain cats as it trembled.

A mountain cat protected the young mountain kitten as the two other mountain cats marched toward the druid.

Upon seeing the two mountain cats charging at him, the druid was delighted. The remaining mountain cat and the kitten would have nowhere to go after he had killed these two mountain cats.

The two mountain cats leaped at the cougar with a roar. The druid was jumping here and there to evade the attacks of the two mountain cats. One of his claws struck a mountain cat and left a deep mark on its body.

The mountain cat was enraged and charged at the druid frantically.

After seeing the two mountain cats take the bait, the druid ran to where the fire mage and the priest were.

“This guy has a good ability to draw in monsters.” Xiao Yu witnessed the whole battle. The druid was engaged, and Xiao Yu thought the other two players had to be very skillful in their professions as well. As such, he knew he had to act more carefully.

Xiao Yu moved toward the priest stealthily and carefully, trying his best to hide himself. He hid behind a large rock, from which he could clearly see the back of the priest’s head.

“Five meters.” Xiao Yu stopped short, silently waiting for an opportunity to present itself. It was not time to use the sneak-attack skill yet.

The druid was leaping and jumping from one rock to the other. His body was scratched by the mountain cats a few times, causing him to lose a fair amount of health. A white light landed on him, and the druid’s health had recovered immediately.

The druid retreated to the narrow spot as planned while blocking the attacks from the mountain cats with his claws.

Tearing!!!

The druid suddenly pounced at a mountain cat in front of him with his silvery claw raised. As he swung his claw downwards, fresh blood gushed out, and a piece of flesh was torn off from the body of the mountain cat. The creature cried in pain with blood soaking its chest.

More than 120 points of damage drifted up from the head of the mountain cat.

“That’s a very high damage value, and that should be the special skill of a druid.” After watching the druid battle with the two mountain cats, Xiao Yu entered the stealth travel state and approached the priest who was at the rear of the team.

The two mountain cats leaped at the druid with a fierce roar. The druid didn’t wish to fight against them after his successful strike. He backed up a few paces and occupied a favorable spot. The place was too narrow for the two mountain cats to move forward side by side. Only one mountain cat charged forward in the end.

Balls of fire landed on the mountain cats and exploded with sparks splashing in all directions.

The druid was attacking the mountain cat vehemently. Though his attacks were not as powerful after he transformed into a cougar, he struck at a high frequency. Many damage points popped up over the head of the mountain cat.

Boom!!!

A final ball of fire landed on the mountain cat, causing it to drop to the ground. It died after 235 points of damage popped up over its head.

That was a burst attack!

This was a formidable attack. Fire mages were indeed the most powerful attackers among players with the mage profession.

The mountain cat in front had died. When the cat behind saw the scene, it frantically charged forward, anger apparent in its roar.

The druid moved forward and fought head-on with the mountain cat.

These three players were more powerful than Xiao Yu had expected. If they killed another mountain cat, he wouldn’t have any chance to beat them.

His opportunity would slip away in an instant, and Xiao Yu would in no way let this opportunity go waste.

Three meters… two meters… Xiao Yu calmly drew nearer to the priest and held his breath.
