You're My Only Star

When Song Xing Xing left the studio, both Liu Yu Sheng and Ning Yan had offered to send her off to her destination. However, Song Xing Xing had to reject their offer as it would be troublesome if they had asked why she wanted to go to NEXT Group's headquarter.

After convincing them that she would be alright, Song Xing Xing turned around and walked over to the bus stop. Seeing that there were still a few minutes before the bus would arrive, Song Xing Xing took out her phone and texted her boyfriend that she was heading to his office soon. 

Just as she had pressed the send button, her phone started to vibrate. Her eyes flashed in surprise when she saw that familiar name. It was her high school friend, Qiu Ling Yi.

Song Xing Xing swiped her finger on the screen and pressed the phone to her ear. "Ling Yi."

The two of them exchanged a brief greeting before Qiu Ling Yi went to the point. "Xing Xing, I'm getting married."

Her expression froze at the sudden news. It felt as if they were both still kids. How was it that her friend was getting married soon?

Song Xing Xing quickly snapped out of her trance. "Congratulations! Who is the lucky guy?"

Qiu Ling Yi laughed happily before she spoke about the person that she was going to marry.

Her marriage partner is someone that Song Xing Xing was familiar with. They were in the same circle and had gone to the same school for years. It was just that… Song Xing Xing had never thought that the two of them would get together. In her memory, Qiu Ling Yi and that other person had never spoken much.

"My family is planning to hold an engagement ceremony next week," Qiu Ling Yi said. "Xing Xing, you have to come. A lot of our schoolmates will be there too. Let's have a mini-reunion."

At the thought that she has not seen her schoolmates for a long time, Song Xing Xing quickly agreed. Moreover, it has been a few months since the last time she had returned to Y City. These days, her mother has been asking why she hasn't come home for a long time. 

Song Xing Xing snapped out of her trance as she heard Qiu Ling Yi's voice again.

"Xing Xing, are you in Capital City?"

"How did you know?" 

When she chose to work in Capital City, Song Xing Xing had asked her family to keep her whereabouts a secret. She simply wanted to escape from the life of a young miss of a prestigious family while she was in Capital City. Only a few people knew that she had worked as a video editor in Capital City. 

"A few weeks ago, my brother said that he had run into you in Capital City."

It was at this time that Song Xing Xing recalled that she had run into Qiu Yang while she went shopping for Lu Xun's suit. 

"Mmm… You know that my cousin, Song Yi is in Capital City." Song Xing Xing did not explain much about the reason she was in Capital City and hoped that her friend would make her own guess.

"My brother asked for your contact number. However, I don't feel good giving away your number without your consent. Xing Xing, the next time he asked me again, should I give it to him?"

"Let's not. Since I am going back to attend your engagement party, he could ask me if we met," Song Xing Xing made an excuse. 

Anyway, she was planning to avoid running into Qiu Yang. After her mother had tried to set her up with him, Song Xing Xing would be embarrassed when she ran into Qiu Yang. She did not know how to face him and hoped that she would not run into him again.

As the bus had arrived, Song Xing Xing excused herself and ended the conversation. 

Because of the traffic, it took her a while to arrive at NEXT Group headquarters. Fortunately, there were not a lot of people around and no one was paying attention to her.

Just as she had stepped into the lobby, Assistant Bei Yuan walked over and smiled. "Miss Song, you have arrived."

Song Xing Xing greeted him and spoke, "Sorry. There was an accident on the way here. It took me a while to get here. Assistant Bei Yuan, are you waiting for me?"

Bei Yuan chuckled. "President Lu asked me to wait for you. Miss Song, let me lead you to President Lu's office." He led Song Xing Xing into the elevator and spoke again, "President Lu Xun is still in the meeting room. Miss Song, you will have to wait for a few minutes before the meeting ended."

The elevator opened with a ding. The moment she stepped out, Song Xing Xing could see that the others were looking at her. She flashed them a smile but did not speak a word.

Soon, Assistant Bei Yuan led her into Lu Xun's office.

"Miss Song, would you like anything to drink?"

Song Xing Xing waved her hand. "It's fine. I can help myself."

The last time she had visited this office, Lu Xun had pointed the coffee maker at the side and the small refrigerator to her. If she needed something to drink, she can go and get something on her own.

"The dinner that President Lu had ordered will arrive soon."

"Thank you Assistant Bei Yuan."

The assistant nodded before he left to find his boss to report. The smile on his face widened at the thought that his boss would be in a better mood once he heard that his girlfriend is waiting for him in the office.

As she was alone in his office, Song Xing Xing took her time to look around the office.  Once she had looked enough, she sat down on the sofa and took out her phone.

It was better to log into the game and kill some monsters while she waited for Lu Xun. 

Coincidentally, Luna and Grasshopper were online as well. The two invited her to kill some boss and Song Xing Xing gladly went over with them. The big boss that they were fighting this time was quite powerful with his attack. Song Xing Xing had to keep her eyes on her teammates' health and made sure that they did not die.

Therefore, when Lu Xun had walked into the office, Song Xing Xing had not noticed him at all.
