You're My Only Star

Lu Xun watched as the doctor wrapped a bandage around Song Xing Xing's ankle with a distressed look on his face.

A while ago, Shi An Na had pushed her aside, spraining her ankle. Although the doctor had said that it was nothing major, the swell on her feet scare him. If something happened to Song Xing Xing at this time, he would not know what to do.

When he recalled what had happened earlier, Lu Xun began to hate Shi An Na a little more.

If she wanted to speak, then she should use her mouth. Why would she push someone else and cause harm to someone else?

His gaze fell on Song Xing Xing's bandaged ankle again. If it was not because of his previous matter, Song Xing Xing would not be injured. Lu Xun was surrounded with guilt.

Lu Xun was relieved to know that Song Xing Xing did not need to stay in the hospital. The doctor only reminded her to let her ankle rest and not to do anything that would put pressure on it.

Once the treatment was done, Lu Xun paid for the medical fee and tried to carry the girl into his arms. However, before he could lift her, Song Xing Xing had already pushed his hand away. 

"I can still walk," Song Xing Xing said. Her head lowered.

His movement halted. Thinking that the girl was angry that she had to suffer some injustice because of him, Lu Xun decided not to say a thing and followed as she wanted. Seeing that she was staggering to walk, Lu Xun could only support her as she walked. 

A breath of relief escaped him when he saw that she was not rejecting him this time. 

Their journey home was filled with silence.

Lu Xun kept glancing at the girl in the passenger's seat and wondered what was going through her mind. The more he looked at her, the more he felt guilty.

He wanted to speak but was afraid that he would only irritate her. However, Lu Xu was aware that he should not leave before he coax her.

Last time, he had already hurt her with the way he had acted. Song Xing Xing had already given him a chance. He cannot do anything and disappoint her again.

However, Lu Xun was helpless at what he can do to make her feel better.

The vehicle finally stopped as they reached her apartment. 

Lu Xun walked around the vehicle and helped Song Xing Xing out. As she was not saying anything, Lu Xun tacitly helped her to get out of the vehicle and supported her until she entered the house.

Mr. Fluffball appeared at the entrance when he heard a movement. He looked at his master's bandaged feet and meowed. The cat could sense that something was wrong with his master and began to worry. He did not dare to come close and instead, stayed silent obediently as he watched them enter.

Lu Xun helped Song Xing Xing to sit down on the couch. Then, he went to the kitchen and poured her a glass of water.

Fortunately, he has come over a few times and knew his way around her place.

Song Xing Xing took the glass of water from him but did not take a sip. She watched as Lu Xun sat down across her and guessed that he had no intention to leave at this time.

Her heart was sour. 

Although she knew that she should not blame Lu Xun for what happened, her heart was very uncomfortable. 

Previously, she had heard about Lu Xun's ex-girlfriend. After breaking up with her, Lu Xun has not dated anyone ever since.

Song Xing Xing knew well that the person she met earlier was Lu Xun's ex-girlfriend. That girl is very pretty and she could understand more or less why Lu Xun would be attracted to someone like her. 

However, something happened between them. Judging from their conversation earlier, Song Xing Xing could guess that the break-up ended up badly. She wanted to ask him about it but wonder if he would think that she was being meddlesome.

"Song Xing Xing." His voice was weak as he spoke. "I'm sorry. Because of me, you have suffered." Other than this word, he did not know what else he could say at this time. 

Song Xing Xing pursed her lips and did not lookup. The pain in her ankle began to throb. After a long hesitation, she decided to speak. "That person, is she your ex-girlfriend?"

Lu Xun was ready to be ignored for a long time. Therefore, he was a little surprised when she asked him about Shi An Na.

"Yes. Xing Xing, I promise that nothing was going on between us. After we broke up, I haven't been in contact with her. It was recently that she has tried to contact me again."

Lu Xun decided that it was best if he be honest. It was also the best way to avoid any misunderstanding in the future.

"Why did you break up?" Song Xing Xing bit at her lips as the question left her mouth. "It's fine if you don't want to answer."

"No. I will tell you everything you wanted to know," Lu Xun said. He took a deep breath and answered her question. "Back then, we broke up when she wanted to marry someone else." 

"Then, what is it with that cheque?"

There was a brief silence on his part. Lu Xun always considered the money that Shi An Na gave him as a shameful matter to him. "She gave me a sum of money. It was our breakup fee." A wry smile curled on his face. "I asked someone to return the cheque to her a while ago. But it seemed that she did not want it now."

His heart still ached whenever he thought of that day. His dignity was trampled on. Lu Xun had never felt more humiliated. 

Song Xing Xing looked at the man in shock.  She had never thought that there would be something like a breakup fee between them. It made sense that Lu Xun was so angry when he saw the cheque.

Suddenly, her heart was aching for him.

Years ago, the two of them must be so much in love. She wondered how he must felt when Lu Xun received the breakup fee from that woman. 

"Xing Xing, after that day, I no longer have feelings towards her," Lu Xun spoke in a serious tone. He was worried that if he did not clarify this matter to her, her mind might wander. "You have to believe me on this. I would not pursue you if I was not sure about my feelings.. Song Xing Xing, I like you."
