You're My Only Star

The background music from the game filled the room.

Song Xing Xing sat in the living room with a bowl of honeydew on the table and her phone in her hand. In a few minutes, the team PK arena was going to start. Song Xing Xing logged into the game earlier to settle a few quests to kill some time.

As she was upgrading her weapons, the mail icon on the side blinked. Song Xing Xing clicked on the icon and saw that it was a message from someone she knew.

Player99: What are you doing?

Not Your Little Star: I'm doing some quest. Is there something I can help you with? Do you want me to help you with some quests again?

Song Xing Xing was aware that Player 99 is actually a newbie in this game. Ever since the first time that she had run into him in the forest, Player 99 would sometimes speak to her when she went online. Because he was still having trouble with his control, Player 99 would often ask her to help him with a few quests. Song Xing Xing would then act as the healer while instructing Player 99 on how to fight monsters.

Player 99: I heard that there was going to be a team PK arena. If there is a spot left, would you let me join your team?

Song Xing Xing was about to reject him when she recalled that Luna had mentioned that she might not be able to join them in the arena this week.

Player 99: I haven't joined the PK arena before.

Not Your Little Star: Hold on, let me check with my teammates first.

Song Xing Xing checked her friends' list and saw that Peanut Butter Jelly and Shadow were online. However, Luna and General Huo who would often team with her were not online.

She glanced at the clock and saw that there were ten minutes left before the PK team arena was going to start. They would need five members to join this event. However, Luna still has not logged into the game.

Song Xing Xing clicked on Shadow's name and typed her message.

Not Your Little Star: Shadow, will Luna and General Huo join us this week?

Shadow replied to her message in a few seconds.

Shadow: Not sure about General Huo, but Luna did say that she will not make it tonight. I try to ask around if anyone is free to join us but most of them already had a team. Little Star, you are closer to Huo. Can you help me to ask if he's going online?

Not Your Little Star: A friend of mine is asking to join our team.

Shadow: Who is it? 

Not Your Little Star: Player 99

Shadow: Didn't that person already sold his account?

Not Your Little Star: Mmm… It's that new player.

Shadow: You've talked to him?

Not Your Little Star: Mhm… He's actually a rich guy who wanted to invest in mobile gaming. This person bought Player 99's account for research purposes. I think he hasn't joined the PK arena before.

Shadow: Fine. Let him join us.

Not Your Little Star: I have to warn you though. He's actually terrible at this game.

Shadow: …

Shadow: Fine. As long as he is willing to spend some money to increase our buff, then, we can still carry him. Anyway, we are in desperate need of team members.

Not Your Little Star: Then, I'll go and talk to him first and then contact General Huo.

Song Xing Xing shifted the tab to talk to Player 99.

Not Your Little Star: I have asked my friends. As long as you are willing to spend some money to increase our might, you can join our team later.

Player 99: Alright. I don't mind spending some money.

Not Your Little Star: I'll invite you to our team when we can enter the arena.

Later, she minimized the game and hesitated before she texted Huo Yun Chen to ask if he was going to join them for team PK arena. After the last time she had seen the rumor about him, Song Xing Xing was reluctant to text him.

She knew well that Huo Yun Chen would be too busy to deal with the consequences of that rumor.

Just as she thought that Huo Yun Chen would not reply to her message again, that man suddenly appeared.

"Sorry. I'll go online soon. Wait for me," Huo Yun Chen replied.

Song Xing Xing opened the game again and saw that the PK arena was going to start soon. After she had joined the team with Shadow and Peanut Butter Jelly, she then sent an invitation to Player 99.

Once everyone was online, Song Xing Xing typed into the team's chat channel.

Not Your Little Star: General Huo said he will log in soon.

Shadow: Alright.

As they made the group their final preparation before the arena begin, Shadow was busy instructing Player 99 on what he should do later.

Two minutes before the PK arena start, Huo Yun Chen finally entered the game. Shadow quickly invited him into their team before the five of them entered the PK arena together.

The buff was initiated. With both General Huo and Player 99 spending their money generously, the team's might increased greatly. Player 99's level and might were already very high. It was just that, he was not good at controlling his character. 

Song Xing Xing thought that with him joining their team this time, the result would not be that bad.

After ten seconds of the countdown, the match finally started. 

Lu Xun looked at the name of their team members and was surprised upon seeing that one of the team members is Huo Yun Chen.

A while ago, his nephew, Jia Xuan had told him that he was a friend of Huo Yun Chen in the game. His nephew had told her that Huo Yun Chen's ID name is General Huo. Looking at the way General Huo was playing, Lu Xun could see that he was quite good at this game.

Should he ask Huo Yun Chen about Song Xing Xing?

But if he ask around, then he would have to reveal his identity. Lu Xun did not want to let others know that he had bought an account to pursue his girlfriend.

His eyes narrowed.

With his current level and technique, Lu Xun did not know whether he would be worthy enough to fight monsters alongside his girlfriend.

Suddenly, he wondered if his girlfriend is one of his teammates.

When that thought came to his mind, Lu Xun glanced at his team member, Not Your Little Star. However, a second later, he quickly dismissed that thought.

Unfortunately, he had failed to peek at Song Xing Xing's ID name the last time. Or else, he might know the answer he was looking for. 

It was better if he practice a lot more and learned how to fight well in this game before he try to find his girlfriend.  Then, wouldn't Song Xing Xing look up to him more than she would at Huo Yun Chen?
