[T/N: Have skipped a few questions, which were not relevant to the story.]

Author’s Inspiration

1) Dunkirk (Movie)

This movie played a decisive role in Ian Kerner’s enlistment in the Air Force. In my imagination, Imperial planes have the appearance of the British military plane ‘Spitfire’ from the movie Dunkirk. I was surprised to find someone who correctly guessed it was used as inspiration here.

2) Les Misérables

Rosen’s prisoner number is 24601. A habitual escapee. A prisoner who received a severe punishment compared to her crime. A jailer who understands the prisoner? I got a lot of inspiration from the relationship between Jean Valjean and Javert.

3) Chicago (Musical, Movie)

No explanation needed. He had it coming!

4) Wicked (Musical)

Defying gravity is Emily and Rosen’s theme song, in my opinion.

5) A Thousand Brilliant Suns/ Thelma and Louise/ Naomi and Gaoko etc…

I used motifs such as the solidarity between two women and the murder of a husband. A Thousand Brilliant Suns, in particular, is my favorite.

Hello, this is the end of ‘Your Eternal Lies’. I never thought I would be able to complete this in 5 months. Thanks to all of you who supported us in the comments. If I had written it alone, I would never have finished it.

Planning

It was November 2018 when I finished my previous work, “We Call Peter Pan,” and I was grinding my teeth to find material. A writer is basically an attention seeker… So I wanted more people to see my posts… So I created Princess X, who was sentenced to a deadline in “Limited Time,” and tried to write a romance with an escort, but gave up because I thought it would be too epic to handle. Before writing that, I wanted to write a shorter mid-length story, and among my notebooks filled with scenarios, I chose 《Your Eternal Lies》.

‘Judge, this is unfair!’

It was a story that started with a joke from a friend, but it became darker and more serious than I originally thought. I didn’t want to do this…

To be honest, I was very surprised because I didn’t know that you would love it this much because it’s a short story. Even my friend, whom I am thankful for, who always reviews my writing first, said to me, “Are you writing a short story again?”

I think it’s thanks to many people sympathizing with Rosen Walker’s story. I didn’t write it with any enlightening or instructive intention… (Because I’m not that smart) I just thought that everyone would have experienced being upset while watching the news, so I wrote this novel to feel sorry for and be comforted together.

Questions about the work

Can only women use magic in this world?

Yes. There are only witches.

Did Ian’s unknown wish turn Rosen into a witch?

No, as it says in the book, the great witch Walpurg never listens to a man’s wish. Rosen’s wish came true.

What did Ian shout when Rosen fell from the boat?

Leave it to your imagination!

Happy Q&A time!!

And thank you so much for reading all this time.

Q&A

* I may not answer questions about the part that I did not specifically set, or that I want to leave to the readers’ imagination. Please forgive me!! I read every single comment. *

〈Questions about publication/next work, etc.〉

Q Are the same anecdotes included in the published e-book/paper book?

Yeah! The same unpublished anecdotes are included in both the e-book and the paper book. The specific content and length has not been decided yet, but since there were many opinions that romance was lacking in the main story, I plan to focus more on romance. The main story is too heavy, so I will focus on happy side stories. Like the meeting between Ian, Emily, and Rosen…

Please post a notice on Joara when a paper book/e-book is published.

We will notify you of all of Joara’s work on my personal Twitter account (@jeonhoochi)!

Do you continue to work under the pen name Jeo-chi?

Yes, this is my real pen name and I plan to publish most of my works under the pen name Jeo-Chi. Of course, if I write a work with a distinctly different color (e.g. Hard 19 Gold, Moralis Blood, etc.), I won’t use a different pen name to avoid shocking you.

Will you continue to write?

Writing is what I will do for the rest of my life. I really love writing novels. It’s painful, but the sense of accomplishment is greater than that… I won’t sign a contract with a specific publisher and write exclusively.

I wonder if it is published in the same month on multiple platforms or selected on a specific platform.

I am still not very familiar with it. It seems that specific schedules and plans will come out only after proofreading!

If you are not active with Joara in the future, please let us know where you plan to be active.

The platform Joara will continue to be used! There are actually no places with as many readers as there… However, no matter what work I write, I don’t think I will finish it here in the future.

Is there any possibility of publishing a paper book of your previous work, We Call Peter Pan?

There is nothing planned at all. It will be published as an e-book when the exclusive period is over.

Can I tag you with fan art on Twitter?

It’s always an honor. Thank you very much.

〈Question about the content of the work〉

Do you have any thoughts on Twitter from time to time?

I’m not sure yet. After finishing a piece, I’m too tired to look at it again for a while… Maybe after some time?

Is the Emperor who briefly appeared female?

Yes! She is the last direct descendant of the Imperial family.

How did Layla enter the military academy?

She’s young, so she’s not a full cadet. She is a student in the officer’s academy. There is also the fact that the Reville family bloodline funded the military academy. The main reason is that her puberty came early and made her want to rebel against her uncle and grandfather.

Will Rosen and Ian live together?

Rosen will travel between Walpurgis Island and Primrose. They don’t live together completely, but it’s pretty much the same!

As for Rosen, will she live as she goes back and forth between Walpurgis Island and Primrose in the future? Ian won’t be able to enter Walpurgis Island, right?

Yes. Currently, Rosen is still learning from the witches, so she can only go out occasionally as if she were on vacation. This new witch is busy because all her seniors are mischievous. Ian will be upset for a while, but with a little more time, Rosen will be able to go out longer and more freely.

And Ian will never be allowed into Walpurgis Island. Unless he dies and reincarnates as a woman in his next life…

One of the things Ian Kerner does best is to wait patiently, so don’t worry too much. The two will get along well in the future.

Regarding the Rosen that Ian dreamed of, was that really Rosen?

Yes, lol. This will be solved further in a side story.

Emily was portrayed as loving Hindley more than Rosen. How did Emily change after Hindley died?

That may be how Rosen feels, but in fact, Emily has always loved Rosen more than Hindley. Even when Hindley died, she was worried about Rosen first. She wasn’t too sad. It’s just that Hindley gaslit her for so long that she didn’t have the strength to escape from him.

Whose blood did Emily use to become a witch at the age of 6? Did Emily kill someone too?

We haven’t talked about it in this story. It’s not that you missed it. No one necessarily has to be killed to establish the condition of blood… It’s established in a variety of ways. For your information, Emily’s “one man’s blood” is the blood of her biological father. I’ll leave that to your imagination!

How did Emily get the restraints off her neck?

Emily’s necklace was released after she reached Walpurgis Island with the help of the other witches.

Is there any background to the lives of the witches living on Walpurgis Island? Are Emily and Rosen happy in there?

The closer you get to the island, the greater the magical influence.

For your information, the people of Primrose are in favor of witches because the area around Walpurgis is home to witches, the area with the strongest magical influence in the Empire.

What’s certain is that Emily and Rosen are happily doing well in there!

What the hell is going on on Monte Island?

It’s the worst prison imaginable (like a prison camp) and an island of chaos and destruction where prisoners fight for their survival. But Maria is a far greater prisoner than she’s shown in the story, so she’ll probably rule the island in a few years.

A list of songs I listened to while writing

I listen to songs with lyrics or Korean songs while writing novels, so I’m not sure if I can recommend them. I don’t know much about pop songs. There are a lot of opinions that songs with lyrics or Korean songs don’t go well with Western-style songs… However, I will try to list the ones I enjoy.

Mulan OST – Short Hair/ReflectionLee So Ra – Track 9Goo Goo Dolls – All That You ArePark Bom – SpringCold Cherry – Growing Pains 2BTS – MikrokosmosAdam Levine – Lost Stars
