You Are Mine

"Madam, are you alright?'', the maid named Cecilia followed her and could hear the things being smashed inside. A loud thug hit the door and the maid involuntarily backed away from the door. She did not dare to go inside, scared that she might be hurt. She is very well aware that her madam is capable of hurting other people. She did it before with Christine and she could do it to her too.

She has been with the Arante's before Celine came into the Mansion. She was only 15 when she started working with them and after being with them for 30 years, she knows everything that happened.

Cecilia was cleaning the master's bedroom after Jackson and Celine went out for their usual Sunday routine. They would go to church for mass every Sunday and after that Jackson would usually hang out with the workers on the farm. He was respected by the workers due to his kind disposition compared to Celine. After cleaning the room, she went to the bathroom to clean it. After about 2 minutes inside the bathroom, she heard the door opened and she wondered who could it be. The couple should not be back after 2 hours or so. She decided to go out and take a look but before she could completely go out of the bathroom, she saw her Madam talking on the phone and she heard every word she said to someone on the phone. She silently closed the door of the bathroom but left a small opening so she can hear her.

"Make it look like an accident. See to it that Jolo won't notice it", she said to someone on the phone. She was silent for a few seconds, seemed that the person on the other line is hesitating.

"I am the matron of this hacienda and you should do what I say. I will pay the hospital bill of your wife and give you money enough to start a new life in another town", she assured the person on another line. Then another few seconds of silence before she continued to talk.

"I just want her out of my life and Joseph's life. Don't question my decision", she angrily said.

"I will take care of that. Noone will know about it, just do what I say", she said and hang up the phone.

Cecilia immediately closed the door of the bathroom when Celine was about to turn around facing her direction. After that, she heard the door opened and closed again after a few seconds. She sighed in relief and hurriedly finished cleaning the bathroom. She can't believe what she just heard. She knew from the start that Celine is not a good person but she never imagined that she can do something like this. She felt terrible and scared. Although she did not mention a name while talking on the phone, she is well aware that she is referring to Christine. She just doesn't understand why Celine hated the poor girl that much. Christine was a good girl aside from being beautiful. She shrugged her shoulder and immediately left the room.

Cecilia was torn between telling someone about it or not. She was pacing back and forth in her quarter. She is scared of Celine and she doesn't want to lose her job. She is already lucky to be working in the mansion because they are paid well and they have benefits compared to others. It is very hard to find another job in their area and she is already 40 years old, she is overaged to apply for another job. But she is also thinking about Christine whose life is in danger.

After about 15 minutes of thinking about it, she decided to warn Christine or Jolo. She can't bear to just be silent about it knowing that someone's life is in danger. She hurriedly went to Christine's room on the second floor and was almost running towards the end of the hallway where Christine's room is.

"knock, knock, knock", she knocked on the door for three times and slowly opened the door. It was open and she hurriedly went inside but no one is there. Christine must have gone to the stable already. Her heart thumped in anxiety, not knowing what to do. After like a minute, she came back to her senses and ran out of the room quickly. She ran in the hallway and down the stairs in the hope that Christine and Jolo have not gone horseback riding yet. She was panting when reached the stable.

"Where are they?" she asked Gary who was there cleaning the stable. She felt like losing her breath from running from her quarter going up to Christine's room and then to the stable.

"Who?... what happened to you?", Gary asked her, a little surprise of how she acted.

"Christine?", she said still panting.

"She and Young Master Jolo went on horseback riding", Gary said and continued what he was doing.

She felt like fainting from what Gary told her. She was trembling, her mouth open. She covered her mouth with both hands in shock. 'Oh my God, I hope nothing will happen to Christine', she prayed silently.

"What's wrong with you?" Gary said and waved her hands on her face. He was so confused with her reaction.

"Christine", was all she could say.

Gary felt weird and felt a slight thud in his heart. As if someone is calling for his help.

"What is going on?", Gary said.

Cecilia made up a story. "I heard that Sky was not feeling well since last night and I wonder if they used her for the horseback riding", she asked Gary.

"They did. Miss Christine was riding Sky", Gary said and his eyes wide open when the idea started to sink in.

"But I did not notice unusual with Sky earlier", Gary said.

"Lucas was here last night and I heard him say that", Cecilia said trying to convince Gary that something is wrong with Sky.

"I was not here last night so I did not check but if that is right, then Miss Christine is in danger!", Gary exclaimed.

"Who is in danger?', Joseph asked which made both of them turn in shock.
