Jian Songyi lets out a deep sigh. When he looked up, he realized that he had walked far too much than he initially planned and is now face to face with a convenience store.

Next to it was a man with a pack of cigarettes. He watches him come out, stood by the side of the road, and puff his cigar. He spits out a circle of clouds, looking very pleased with himself.

It seems that his worries were broken down by nicotine as the smoke slowly dissipates from view.

At the mercy of a ghost, Jian Songyi walked in with ease.

“I’d like the same brand as he does.”

Jian Songyi had never smoked before, but he suddenly wants to try to see if the legendary substance that can bring excitement will be able to shed light on his dying dull life. And maybe, just maybe, it will also ease the discomfort in his heart as well.

He is uncomfortable with himself.

It’s just that he can’t let anyone know.

He must be strong, calm, and optimistic in front of others so he could accept this, and hopefully, not worry the people who care about him.

He knew that it was the right thing to do.

But he was only 17 years old. How ill he be able to reconcile himself?

It’s not like he could not be reconciled. It’s just that for many years, he had been living this certain role, enforcing it to his habits and beliefs only for it to collapse just like that in front of his very eyes.

He has never seen an Omega be able to defeat an Alpha, and he doesn’t know if he can be the one to do it.

He should be able to do it. He should.

Jian Songyi smiles loosely to himself. He was suddenly feeling determined when a leaf staggered and fell unto his shoulder. He was about to take it off of it when someone had to beat him for it and picked it up.

When he turned around, he first saw the beautiful hand that was holding the petiole of the leaf. Once he turned his face to look up, he could not help but chuckle a little. “This leaf knows how to choose a place to go.”

Bai Huai’s face softens as his eyes fixated on Jian Songyi. “People are also good at choosing places.”

Jian Songyi relaxes a little and did not utter a word.

The place that they are in now is already a certain distance away from the convenience store. It’s very isolated, but luckily, there’s a bench to sit on. Nonetheless, Jian Songyi had no idea how Bai Huai found him.

Bai Huai sat next to him. His eyes fixated over Jian Songyi’s smoky lips for three seconds.

The cigarette butts are scarlet, but they have not even been dusted.

Bai Huai chuckled, “You’re carrying a fairy wand. It’s so sweet, it doesn’t make a sound.”

Jian Songyi: “…..”

Jian Songyi has no idea how to smoke, but he still pretends he is so used to smoking- even wanting to portray that he is somewhat addicted to it. But being poked on like this, he knew he would want to prove Bai Huai wrong.

“I can smoke.”

Having said that, he took a hard puff, but instead of spitting cloud circles like the man before, he only choked for sucking too hard. He eventually started turning red until he coughs it’s all out.

Bai Huai tried to bite back a smile. He took his hand and patted Jian Songyi on the back while his other hand took Jian Songyi’s cigarette from him. He placed it in between his lips and puffed it lightly. Afterwards, he threw everything on the nearby trashcan.

With a slight smirk, which might seem like he is in a playful mood, but his tone was a little bit stern than normal. “See? That’s what smoking is all about. It doesn’t even look good nor would make you look more handsome. Don’t touch it again.”

Bai Huai’s lips are very thin with a pinkish color on both sides. It looks like it will have such a sweet and frivolous taste. But it just contained a cigar recently, wouldn’t that taste a little bit sexier than some sweet candy?

Jian Songyi wanted to say that he actually look a little handsome with that cigarette, but then he realized that he had just smoked that very same cigarette that Bai Huai placed in his mouth.

He was not disgusted, but he felt a little uncomfortable.

Bai Huai’s movements were so natural that he was worried that he would be hypocritical if he said something that was clean or unfriendly to the Alpha-Omega relationship.

So the words only came on the tip of the tongue: “Have you smoked before?”

“Mm-hmm. I’ve tried smoking once before. “

“When you were in Beicheng?”

“Mm-hmm.”

Jian Songyi was rarely curious. “People like you actually have a rebellious bad teenager phase?”

Bai Huai leaned his elbow against the bench before replying with a light tone: “I was still young at that time. Whenever I see something new, I put myself into it. I couldn’t figure it out, so I pretend to be an adult and tried it once. Then I found out that it was meaningless and useless, so I didn’t touch it again.”

Jian Songyi thought of the incident in Bai Huai’s school with ease.

“Have you figured it out now?’

Bai Huai knew that he probably thought wrong.

He did not explain though, as he only smiled a little. “Figured it out.”

‘So I came back.’ He thought.

His first two years in Beicheing were really difficult. There were times that he could not even sleep a blink at all.

There is no one to talk to. The 14-15-year-old him was very confused. He feels uneasy and is struggling to figure anything out due to this ambiguous idea in his heart. He competes with himself. Not to mention strict. He was so strict with himself to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.

He thought that the time and distance would cool him off.

But when he turned to be a third-year student with all of his emotions reduced to nothingness, only the initial ignorance of the heart stands within. And from there, somehow, he understood.

Some people or some things set your heart ablaze. It creeps into your heart over and over again, even if you thought you have dimmed and closed it a long time ago.

Now that everything you believed of is over, then you might as well try.

Bai Huai inclined his head to look at Jian Songyi. The light of his eves was swept away from Jian Songyi’s line of vision, making it somewhat difficult to read his emotions from within.

The statement comes out gentle as the temperature ever so slowly becomes irrefutably high.

“So when you encounter anything you don’t understand or whether you feel unhappy in general, don’t hide it by yourself, let alone do stupid things like smoking and drinking. I’m no better than these things, but you can always come to me, okay?”
