What A Dream Wants

39 Steven And Friends Banter!

"Hey, Steven." The blonde greeted him.

"Hey, Lukas," Steven greeted him back.

The girl just pretended as if she didn't see Steven.

Steven stared.

Her face twitched.

"Hey Steven," She greeted him with a big cheeky smile plastered all over her face. "I didn't see you there."

"Really, Olivia?" Steven asked, mystified. "Do you need glasses? I can ask your parents to take you."

"No, no," Olivia said, her eyes twitching. "It's fine."

Steven clasped his hands.

"Well, everyone's here! Okay, let's head off, then-"

"Wait. Steven. Did you check how many students we needed to recruit?"

"Uh..."

Lukas took that as a no.

"I'm going to check with headquarters. Wait a minute." Lukas sighed, disappearing.

A few minutes later, he reappeared.

"There are no other requirements," Lukas stated.

"Okay, let's go!" Steven happily proclaimed.

. . .

Steven was about to fall from the sky again when a hand reached out and grabbed his shoulder.

"Hmph! You're really annoying, you know," Olivia huffed while pulling Steven onto her cloud.

Steven plopped onto the cloud, sitting down like a pretzel. He wondered why Olivia bothered to save him. It wasn't like he would die falling from the sky.

The cloud drifted down slowly, while Lukas floated onto the ground.

Olivia hopped off.

Steven hopped off.

His mood considerably increased when he thought about the fact that he didn't make another crater. Crater 1, 2, and 3 would have to be lonely for the time being.

"Okay! Time to set off!" Steven exclaimed cheerfully and started to take a step forward.

A hand grabbed him from behind, holding him in place.

Steven flailed his arm about, struggling to move. Eventually, he realized he had made no progress in his endeavor, so he turned around and looked at the person who grabbed him.

"You're gonna go like that?" Olivia asked wryly.

"Oh right," Steven's eyes lit up.

"Magical, magical, Puru-Puru Transformation!" Steven shouted, closing his eyes.

"..." Olivia said.

"..." Lukas said.

Steven opened his eyes.

"What are you guys looking at?" Steven asked dully, frowning.

"Should we tell him?" Olivia asked Lukas.

"I don't think it's a good idea..."

"It was pretty funny," Olivia whispered back.

Lukas tried to stifle his laughter. "No comment."

"Are you guys gonna continue gossiping?" Steven stared at them darkly, "Or are we gonna get a move on? Lukas, I thought you were a team leader, not a team gossiper."

"Guilty. Sorry, Steven." Lukas smiled nervously in response.

"Okay, then let's go." Steven turned around, walking ahead. Passing by the overgrowth of trees, the green leaves left splotches on his hair- sunlight reflected like morning grass... If grass had subtle tints of purple.

Lukas started following him.

"Olivia Flibbertigibbet, you too."

Olivia turned a shade of red, flustered. She didn't understand the word, but she knew if Steven used it, it must have been an insult.

"That IS Flibb-ing gibberish. It's not even my last name!" She stomped her feet, chasing after him.

"It's a real word though, which is more real than you'd ever be... even when you pretend to be nice." Steven snarkily didn't bother turning around.

"That's mean! Steven, you PooPoo Head!" Olivia stopped in her tracks and crossed her arms. "I tried being nice today."

Lukas walked between them, unsure how to mediate the situation. If only Steven was here, he could easily just bribe him with food. He sighed...

"I even pulled you up." Olivia pouted.

"Thank you," Steven said simply. "I actually appreciate that you're being amiable today. Don't take my words to heart."

Lukas couldn't believe the words coming out of Steven's mouth. He wondered if Steven was bipolar, his mood swings were just too frequent and too drastic.

Olivia was stunned, touched by Steven's words. A solitary tear slowly made it's way down to her cheek while she smiled. She started skipping and embracing the sunlight. Steven's words transformed the desolate world into something more vibrantly bright. She felt...

Happy.
