What A Dream Wants

1 Steven Goes To School

Orrr... it was just his stomach growling. He sheepishly grinned at his new classmates.

"I'm hungry," he explained and then sighed. 'Guess I have to resort to eating school lunches.'

His classmates gave him a funny look. Then went back to socializing among themselves. The wind blew softly, the chatter of the students grew more distinct. They were introducing themselves to each other. For most, it was a meeting in their lives signifying new friendships and relationships down the line.

"Alright, class. Settle down.", a female teacher enthusiastically called out as she walked in. Her chestnut brown hair was tied into a makeshift bun, with a few strands hanging loose. Her eyes, the same color as her hair, were vividly warm. She was pretty, to say the least, as if she wasn't just a teacher, but had a more significant job.

'Geeh, I already embarrassed myself in front of my classmates. Can't I be depressed in peace?', he silently mulled to himself. The answer apparently was no.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Ms. Happi. H-A-P-P-I. I don't know why everyone misspells my name all the time, but it's okay. If you want to call me Ms. Happy with a 'y', I'll understand."

'Uh....'

"Anyways, I'm here to take your attendance! So kindly raise your hand, and say 'here!' when you're called upon, but not too loudly or softly. Say it clearly." Her voice was nice, vibrantly clear, as if setting an example for the students.

She droned on with the mindless attendance, while Steven... while Steven lost connection to reality.

'Zzz...' Steven fell asleep.

. . .

"Starting off with... Alicia Augustus?" Ms. Happi said, looking for her.

"Here," Alicia said, elegantly raising her hand. She was a character straight out of a storybook. A princess, not made for this era. Her curly golden locks fell down her shoulders only emphasized that pristine image.

"Zephyr Augustus?"

"Here," a blonde haired boy with sky blue eyes said. He and Alicia appeared to be siblings. Basically a Prince Charming.

"Ember Burns?"

"Present" a guy with flaming red hair and burning red eyes uttered out- a walking representation of fire. Flames seemed to dance around him, merely a figment of his aura.

"Call Charles?"

"Here," he muttered. He looked normal. He had blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes.

"Samjo Crow?"

"Present," Samjo said. His hair was the color of midnight, his eyes were inky black. Yet, his glaze burned. Like the sun in the sky, ever so high.

"Zero Dreams?"

"Here." a soft-spoken boy muttered out.

"I think my... parents were drunk when naming me," Zero softly said.

This led out a few chuckles from the students.

"Aithein Ether?"

"Present," Aithein Ether called out. His hair was neither blue nor purple. Like murky water, it flickered in between. The only thing in the endless universe that could describe his looks, was the endless universe. Filled with different colors, perhaps he had trapped the stars in his hair.

"Floresca Earth?"

"Here," Floresca raised her hand. She had a few pink flowers braided into her mellow green hair. If plants could move, she could probably pass off as one.

"Wynter Frost?"

"Here..." Wynter replied. His complexion was snowy white, his hair was icy blue, and his eyes were startling cold. Looking at him was like walking into a blizzard not prepared.

"Curry Falafel?"

Steven woke up. He liked food.

"Here," Curry said.

'Oh... a person's name.' Steven thought to himself.

Steven fell asleep.

"Demi Godiva?"

Steven woke up.

"Here," Demi called out. Her mesmerizing black hair softly lay on her shoulders. She was human. Yet, she didn't seem to belong to this world.

'Oh, a girl, not the chocolate brand.' Steven sighed.

Steven fell asleep.

"Okay, then, Let's see.. next up is Aurous Hunter?"

"Here." He replied.

"Duke Incubus?"

"Here..." Duke said, blushing. He pulled his hoodie over his head.

"No hoodies in the class, Duke. Sorry, it's a school policy."

Slowly, Duke pulled off his hoodie. He looked pretty normal, but mostly the pretty part. Actually, just the pretty part. His dark hair glimmered in the sunlight. His eyes shimmered like a psychedelic kaleidoscope, changing through varying angles. His skin was pale, but fluffy blush crept up his neck. And so, he quickly hid underneath his arms.

"Jackal Jinx?"

The only thing audible in the classroom were crickets chirping.

"Um, Jackal Jinx?"

'Oh sorry, I'm here," Jack hurriedly said. He had dirty blond hair and his clothes were quite wrinkled.

"Neko Katakana?"

"Here," Neko said, embarrassed. Other than his kitty ears and tail, he was a normal student. Which, simply put, he wasn't.

"Lucus Lance?"

"Here," Lucus called out. He had blonde hair and golden eyes.

"Sage Magnus?"

"Here," Sage stated. His navy blue hair was almost black, complementing the eyes that were a captivating void. His glasses only enhanced his scholarly look.

"Melody Null?"

A quiet dark-haired girl raised her hand.

"Owen Owl?"

"Here." a brown-haired boy with glasses replied.

"Jin Park?"

"Here," Jin said. He also had brown hair.

'Jin... hm... where have I heard that name before?'

"Quinn Qilin?"

"Here." Quinn had white hair with sky blue streaks in between.

"Sad Ramen?"

"Here," he said.

"Tasnim Radha?"

"Here, " Radha replied. Presumedly an Indian grill-

Steven woke up, hearing the words grill and ramen. But it must have been his imagination, since who grills ramen? He went back to-

"S-"

"Here, Steven is fine." Steven quickly called out.

"How did you even know I was going to call your name?" Ms. Happi laughed, forgetting to reprimand Steven for calling out.

"I am probably psychic," he murmured. His newfound abilities were quite a shock to him, for originally, he was just an ordinary boy in an ordinary town attending an ordinary school.

"Really?" Ms. Happi's eyes opened wide.

"No," Steven replied. He went back to sleep.

"Oh okay." Her eyebrows drooped down, disappointed for a second, and then proceeded to do the attendance.

"Sinclair Serpent?"

"Here," Sinclair replied with a smile. His eyes and hair were turquoise. His eyes were suffocating, his smile... venomous.

"Usui Tanuki?"

"Here." He replied. His blond hair really contrasted with his name, Tanuki. His green eyes sparkled like dew on grass.

"Tyrone Tornado?"

"Here," Tyrone replied. Even though his skin was chocolate brown, he had captivating green hair and eyes. Like the sturdy bark of an oak tree with wind drifting through its leaves, he seemed unphased by trivial matters.

"Kitsune Udon?"

Steven woke up again, hearing the words udon.

"Present," Kitsune said. Her hair and eyes were a nice shade of brown, more so like caramel than chocolate.

Steven fell asleep again.

"Aphrosite Velvet?"

"Present," she remarked casually. Her hand ran down her hair, velvety tresses fell down from her shoulders. Rosy lips and translucent pink eyes were endowed upon her face. She wasn't trying to look pretty, but she just couldn't hide it.

"Dew Wata?"

"Here," Dew softly said. Her voice was clear, but also a bit soft like early morning rain. She was a tad bit tan, with ocean blue eyes. Her hair, like a waterfall, flowed behind her.

"Myosotis Xion?"

"Here."

"Myosotis?"

"Here," Myosotis said.

"Hmm... that's weird. It's the first day, and she's already absent." Ms. Happi muttered to herself. "I feel like I'm forgetting something."

"I'm here!" Myosotis cried out. "Just call me Mayo, if you can't pronounce my name..."

"Oh sorry," Ms. Happi quickly marked her down. "For some reason, you're just very forgettable. It's like talking for a second and then forgetting... wait, what was I saying? What was I doing?"

"The attendance." Mayo softly reminded her.

"Oh, that's right, lastly, we have Yang Yama?"
