Weltkrieg: A Youjo Senki Fic

Chapter 12 - Open the Curtains

A dark room, filled with countless tubes and tank, glowing in different hues. Red, blue, green, or simply pureness of water as numerous human and animal slept inside it.

Water is the perfect solution to life, human and lifeforms may come from the soil, as Abrahamic religion stated, but they grew inside the water like the first organism ever exists inside the safe atmosphere of the earth.

They're perfect to grow or create life. Playing god? God has been playing, toying, preying upon humanity for untold millennia spanning thousand and million realities, what right they have when we wanted to play on their turf.

If you asked the fundamental question, barring the philosophical senses, why human? Why is it, I wonder? I smirked. There are millions of species out there, be it in this world or outside the stars, and why the human was always chosen as the adversary of misery by multiple godly beings?

Are we special in some ways? none of us are that perfect. Did we have a chance to ascend to the realm of godhood, everything could do that. Then why?

It was once told, humans descended on earth after Adam ate the fruits of wisdom, the Eden apple. Every being was imprinted and created with emotion, but none have wisdom barred the human.

The very fruit that cast humans to the cold, and harsh climate of the earth. But we survived, we reach the state of sentience and make our towers of civilization stand tall, trying to perch its way to heaven.

Emotion and Wisdom were the greatest human resources. With wisdom you could outwit your opponent, you could grow strong with the knowledge you acc.u.mulated. Add emotion to the equation, you have the most ultimate weapon.

The Shounen manga you usually read? don't underestimate Nakama power, they're a strong weapon.

Yes, both of them are not some mere kind of concept beyond our imagination or recognition. They exist, they're within us.

Mind cube is one of its proof, as I held the glowing cube, bringing it closer to my fascination.

They're the crystallization of human wisdom, exploited by the siren, much to my irony.

Other than mind cube, there was also another superior or replacement form of this technology.

The wisdom cube, and Saint Quartz, but that's for a different time.

Mind cube, unlike wisdom cube its superior form, are imprinted, they're still impure.

Like a holy grail inside fairy tales, they could grant a wish, albeit very abysmally and astronomically limited. They only could grant something within the scope of human wisdom, and that is a broad definition I could exploit.

Unfortunately, mind cube needed to be imprinted with a wish upon making, if you wanted to use it as granting device.

The siren, the empress before gave me a box of mind cube with a sort of weapon imprinted inside it, as I scanned it with observation class formula.

Making my way upon numerous rows of the tank, spinning the lock on the door at the end of the darkroom, I opened it.

It was a secluded room, reserved for my experiment. A row of books leans inside the metal case on the wall, as papers neatly stacked on the desk at the elevated side left of the room.

I need to commend Albert later.

At far end in the middle of the room, there's another water tank made of steel and glass. Not for my hygiene, of course, I intend for it as…fish tank, yes, it's the fish tank, you hear it just alright.

Why? Aesthetic duh.

Though, I find a better way to make it useful, as I grab a ladder on the corner which filled with buckets and sorts of tools.

If you expect some sorts of demonic rituals with a questionable sigil, symbol, and offering on the floor, then you were terribly wrong.

To use the mind cube, all you need to do is to wish.

Pour your mind, and d.e.s.i.r.e inside it, as I held the cube on top of the tank.

Like cooking an egg, only all you need to do is wish.

Then my mind blanked off, before in thousand of kaleidoscopic colors brings me back to my past.

Inside the falling snow, between the hedges row of buildings as filthy smog covered the skies.

The snow is pure, driven by a gentle breeze, as I looked on her crystal eyes, casted by azure colors of the ocean.

My wish, my purpose, my colors.

You're always by my side, I smiled as I reached her face.

You share your fate with me, I let her growl as she kept tugging on my arms with her teeth.

Without your hope, I could never possibly found the door amongst the falling snow, stained by blood.

We've survived and stood here with thousands of their lives as the sacrifice, forever.

You're by my side, you share your fate with me, now I'll awake from my delusion.

Her grip loosening the strength, as I gently reached her cornflake hair, and ruffle it as I always do.

Then the dream split, again, as the cube stirred with a soft glow.

A pulse of light the cube radiated, then again, and again, in a weak interval.

I drop it on the water of vats, as it slowly floating in the middle of it.

Letting a sigh, now what I need was just to wait.
