17 – Princess

By nature, peace, no matter how short it is, is bound to feel boring. For me, who had already traveled all over the continent seeking stimulation, the same routine every day and every week was boring.

Last week, there was an event called Labyrinth Dappa, where Rain got paralyzed—perfect for talking about at a drinking party—and it was full of ups and downs, like showing Solar the area around her eyes that she had covered.

But this week there was really nothing. The repetition of just taking classes, bruising, and doing physical training.

Of course, it wasn’t without trivial things.

There were things like when Sola looked at me, she rolled her eyes and avoided me, or when she got into the habit again, Thorman almost caught me secretly putting on bandages and changing the red-stained bed sheets at dawn.

In particular, “Huh? Where are you going with that at dawn?” When Thorman asked, he was cold for the first time in a while.

I said I was in a wet dream, so I went overboard.

..what? isn’t that weird? Wet dreaming is a natural act, so there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Anyway, except for a few trivial things like that, everyday life flows, which is literally peace and tranquility itself.

Rain was also giving lectures normally, and the combat skills class was fun, but it was only one day a week. It wasn’t too much fun to spend the other 6 days idling around for that.

At the moment I was contemplating whether to drop out with the thought, ‘Should I take an adventure soon?’, a very interesting rumor circulated.

“Isn’t that right? I heard that the second princess of the Promius Empire is coming to Hidin?”

It is the Promius Empire. Hearing that reminds me of my time in the Empire again. When I was in the Empire a few months ago…

“Huh? Isn’t the 2nd princess a very famous person?”

“It’s famous. It’s smart, it has no magic talent, it says it saved the empire… it said it was really f*cking pretty.”

When some of the female cadets saw the male cadet emphasizing that they were pretty, they let out a pathetic sigh, but didn’t say anything.

Even though it was a completely different country, the rumor seemed to be widespread.

Since it appears in the newspapers a lot in the first place, it is even more strange not to know. There are many scenes where that look was actually filmed, so even saying ‘don’t judge that you’re really pretty just by hearing rumors’ doesn’t work.

What should I describe? It is difficult to express with my poor language skills. Because it has a beauty to the extent that it would be considered rude no matter what modifiers are attached to it.

Even I, who covered my vision with a bandage, was nervous about the dazzling aura.

In any case, the coming of the 2nd princess was quite… No, it was a very big event. While the other princes and princesses focused on external activities, the second princess was more engrossed in academic research. Just coming to another country like this was no different from an event that stirred up the continent.

The reason is almost clear. He probably heard the news that Sola came to Hidin’s academy run by the first hero as a faculty member.

It was an understandable move because the princess was interested in magic. He couldn’t stand the fact that he could directly see Solar’s face, which was stuck in the magic tower and didn’t come out.

“When are you coming?”

“Maybe today… soon…?”

As soon as the cadet finished his words, cheers were heard from the central garden. You can tell without looking. It seems the princess has arrived.

It seemed to be break time, so I went to the central garden, sandwiched between the running cadets.

There was a woman surrounded by cadets and faculty, both male and female, staring blankly at one place, and among them about 10 escorts.

The second princess of the Promius Empire, Myrcene Luminen Promius. The woman who appeared, exuding an overwhelming aura that had not changed from before, was heading towards the main building of the academy while gently waving to the people around her.

Mirsen walks slowly, as if not paying attention to the slow pace of the crowd.

We stayed in the empire for a while, got to know each other, and thanks to that, we had a luxurious experience staying at the royal palace for a few days, but time had passed.

As a princess, she has many things to do, so she probably doesn’t remember me.

I cheered and waved my hands among the crowd. Anyone could see that it was the first cadet who admired the princess’s procession and reception in person.

However, I still didn’t think that I would look strange with the bandages wrapped around me. It was a bandage that had become part of my life now, so I didn’t think much about it.

“..ah.”

A beautiful voice reminiscent of a clear lake calms the voices of the crowd.

A ripple arose among the crowd, which in an instant turned into a calm lake.

“Hero…”

No, it was too strong a wave to be called a ripple. Mirsen pushes back the escort and approaches. Among the crowds I’m struggling with.

“I’ll pass for a moment. Hang on.”

Politely cutting through people, she comes nearby. I tried to avoid it to the side like a door that opens by following the flow.

“Hero, we meet again.”

With a sweet tone like dripping honey, the warmth that I felt even though I was wearing gloves wrapped around my hand.

“Ugh?”

A title that doesn’t suit me at all and a lavender that seems to be bewitching.. is that right? Anyway, the scent of the flowers made me dizzy for a while. Did you wear a bandage too? I’m not a warrior

“I’m not a warrior…”

“For me, it’s the warrior.”

Myrcene spoke in one breath as if to listen. I removed my hands from the embarrassment I felt for the first time in a while…

..clean it up…

No, why is this lady so strong while she only studies in her room? He pulled his arm enough to make the veins stand out on his wrist, but he was unsteady.

Rather, I stopped exerting myself because my elbow was likely to dislocate.

I stood still, feeling the calm before such a violent storm. Not one in the crowd showed any intention of moving, as did the others.

At that moment, as if time had stopped, a person approached us.

“Hello. The dean of the academy, Rain Guardon, sees the imperial princess.”

“Ah, Lady Rain Guardon. Nice to meet you. I am Mirsen Luminen Promius, the 2nd Princess of the Promius Empire.”

Mirsen greeted Lane with a formal greeting-probably a formal greeting. As rumors about the first hero had spread throughout the continent, it seemed like Rain already knew it without introducing himself.

So will you let go of this hand? It’s a bit strange that the cadet is stuck between the princess and the first hero.

“Are you familiar with this cadet?”

“Yes. You are the warrior who saved the empire and me.”

Nope. Not a warrior.

That said, he has a sense of humor to the point of not saying it to his face. Seeing that I was still, Lane stayed still for a while, then took a step forward.

“Princess, I think it’d be best if you let go of your hands first. No matter how close the academy cadets and the princess are, if rumors spread, things might get annoying.”

“Whoops. Thank you for your concern. But it’s okay. I’m confident in hiding it. Maybe Rain Guardon-nim doesn’t know exactly how the Empire came out of crisis, right?”

“That’s right, but did you use your hand?”

“It’s a request from the warrior, so I’ll lend you a hand.”

Mirsen turned to me again and spoke very quietly.

“Hero, as you said, I covered it up. Everything including your actions. And, if you want, I can cover up all of this now too.”

“Ah. Please.”

“Please don’t react like that to draw the line. Please speak like you used to, like you.”

Even if you say that, in this situation in the first place, to the princess ‘Gren!’ I have no intention of saying that. I can already feel the cadets staring at me with interest, but I can’t act like that carelessly.

More than that, Mirsen was at her own pace just like back then. Just like the time when he hid his identity and stumbled among adventurers and received a request, saying ‘I’m going to test magic’.

“Cadet? Can you explain what this is about? It’s good news that a person belonging to our academy has a relationship with the Empire.

Maybe Lane laughed when he said that. After she finished her words, she chanted a little longer and cast space movement on Mirsen and herself.

As the unfamiliar sensation passed through my body, I was sitting on the sofa in the dean’s office before I knew it.

In the seat next to me, Mirsen was holding onto my arm as if she would not let go. As if I grew up eating only good things, a huge, soft lump that grew up rubs against my arm.

It’s not a bad feeling, but I’d like you to let go of putting your arm between the princess’s breasts because I’m afraid of repercussions no matter how much I do.

“So? What happened? No, may I ask what happened to the academy before that?”

“Yes. I heard that Al Sola is working as a faculty member here.”

“Then call her…”

“But when I got here, there were more important things than that.”

To dismiss meeting the best wizard on the continent as something like that. After all, this princess was not an ordinary person either.

“I didn’t know that the hero was enrolled here. ..Do you know that I kept repeating my journey with you, hero?”

I don’t have the talent to read people’s minds.

Just as I was about to say that, Lane prepared cookies and tea on the table with a clicking sound. Just by smelling it, I knew it was the cookie with my favorite flavor.

“Princess, could you explain to me what happened?”

“..Are you okay?”

There was no particular reason to hide it, so when I nodded, Myrsene removed her arm from me and spoke about what had happened in the past.

Like a dreaming girl, holding her hands together.
