He checked the message, "F*ck! Everything is messed up" Looking down at the little creature in his arms he shook his head in disappointment.

Before he could say anything to her, Xiu Mei tried to back kick him. He chuckled at his childish behavior, "Mei, these silly tricks won't work on me. Don't forget who taught you self-defense. No matter how good a student is, he cannot overtake his master."

Turning her face to the side she yelled at him, "Then leave me you damned! You are hurting me… Let go of me", she tried to wiggle break free from his strong arms.

"I'm not hurting you, you are hurting yourself. Stop struggling and it won't hurt anymore" he said it nonchalantly. Holding her up by her waist he dragged her back to the dining table. Putting her down he firmly said, "Mei, I want to talk to you. Without finishing this topic you are not allowed to leave from here, Ok?" she turned her face resentfully, refusing to give him any reply.

"Ok?" Xion asked pressing his voice while he tightens his grip on her.

"Ahhhhhhhhh....." Next second he automatically released his grip when Xiu Mei gave him an electric shock. Rubbing the right side of his waist he looked at her flabbergasted.

Xiu Mei flicked her hair back, giving him a smug look she mocked him, "A student can never beat his master, but if a student is like me, then tables will definitely be turned" she waved a mini electroshock weapon that she pulled out from her bag earlier. "Don't you dare do this again"

As expected of her, she will never back down. Xion smacked his fist angrily at the table causing both crystal vases to fall down, he cursed under his breath, "F*ck"

Taking a few deep breaths he tried to control his anger and pulled the microphone on his collar discreetly so that grandpa won't get emotionally affected listening to their conversation. After switching it off he shoves it inside his pocket.

They both stare at each other indignantly, Xion moved forward aggressively to scold her, "This time it's entirely your fault, you are being unreasonable. Without listening to me you tried to walk out on me." he was fuming red and blue staring at her.

"I know! I know you never accept gifts, but is there a need to behave like this? We could have easily talked this matter out, but no! You chose to provoke me unnecessarily!"

Xiu Mei pressed her lips tightly, refusing to give him an answer. She knows that this is her fault this time, but when she opened the gift box her mind went completely blank, her body reacted itself subconsciously, warning her to run away from here.

Biting her lips she thought about the night 7 years back when Feng Jianyu gave her the diamond, saying he trusted her. Although it was not a gift, it changed her life forever. That gold box containing diamond turned out to be the box full of darkness for her. She is afraid of accepting any materialistic thing after that night, thinking she might end up losing more precious things in her hands.

Once bitten twice shy, being fearful of her past, she got scared whenever someone gives her any gift. She felt herself terror-struck that history might repeat itself, causing her to suffer the same pain once more. The moment she opened the box to take a look at Xion's gift, instead of bracelet her mind showed her the image of that very same diamond in its place.

Tears started to form in her eyes, but she was adamant to not let them roll down her cheeks… she is no more that fragile Alice… She is Xiu Mei, headstrong, devoid of emotion, revengeful and everything that Alice was not. She is a better version of herself, She is Alice's better version.

When Xion noticed she is not paying any attention to him, her mind has drifted somewhere else, he moved forward and snapped his fingers at her to wake her up. "Wake up! I'm not barking at the air, answer me. I'm waiting for your answer… Tell me why did you behave like this? Why do you have to snap at people abruptly? Why the hell you exaggerated this matter to this point where we are fighting like enemies?"

This abrupt change of the subject disconcerted her. She looked at Xion determinedly, "I don't owe you any explanation. I chose to reject your gift, I chose to walk out from here and now I choose to not answer any of your questions."

Infuriated by her attitude, he rubbed his hand over his face. "Xiu Mei, is there a circuit in your brain that gets fused once in a while? Please tell me! I'll take you to a good doctor. This should be treated ASAP, coz sometimes it really gets annoying."

He opened the golden box to take the bracelet out, taking a step forward closer to her he held her hand tightly and put it on her palm. "Do whatever you feel like doing with it, it's of no use for me. Throw it, burn it, break it, I don't care! You are the only person in this world I can't control…" He stepped back from her and turned around refusing to look at her anymore.

Xion did not want to do this, all he was worried about was grandpa's feelings. He knows how hurt he must be after knowing that his granddaughter had rejected his gift unknowingly.

Xiu Mie looked at him feeling wronged, to put the end to this matter here only she holds the bracelet and tried to push it down to her wrists without taking a proper look that it had to be unlocked first. F.o.r.c.i.b.l.y she pushed it down.

She strode towards Xion and shows him her wrist by bringing her hand in front of his eyes. Upon finding that she is wearing the bracelet, he looked at her surprisingly… he felt delighted for grandpa and stole a glance at the window thinking how much he must be happy at the moment.

But the very next moment she shattered his happiness completely by taking it off from her wrist. Lifting Xion's hand, she returned it to him, "I'm not rejecting it, it's the most beautiful piece of jewelry a girl can wish for. But I'm sorry X, due to some personal reasons I can't keep it with me…"

Taking a deep breath she sighed, "Please try to understand my predicament… Don't force me to do something that I don't want to do... Out of respect, I wore it once, but don't expect anything more than this" she walked out of there leaving him alone.

Xion looked at her departing figure, glancing at the window he clenched the bracelet tightly in his hands.

Wu Zixin came running towards him panting heavily, "Boss, you ordered to seal all entry points… But Miss. Mei is....." he hesitated to complete his sentence.

"Let her go…" Xion ordered shortly. "Make sure she reaches home safely" before leaving to check on grandpa he stopped in his tracks to order further.

Wu Zixin bowed in respect, he takes out his communication device to inform the security station that order has been revoked.
